Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
A junior engineer working for a small engineering firm in Cocoa Beach. The firm focuses mostly on NASA projects.
Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
Well, Boss Hogg isn’t exactly known for his great intelligence.
But I honestly don’t know what happens next. This is the last comic in the buffer that CD made before leaving on his course. He just got back, and will be making the next comic this weekend.
Well, I wouldn’t reveal the deception this soon; he could try to make a grab for the bottle. I’d not reveal the trick until after the bottle is safely away from Boss Hogg. OR I’d have fun and grant/twist his next three wishes on his new ‘genie’.
I’m rather curious if “selling” a genie for a genie will as others have said make Bo a genie. It is after a legally binding exchange and the genie rules are . . . not kind to humans shall we say. Not kind to new genies either for that matter.
Probably not Senko; I was hoping that Boss Hogg was going to use his last wish without thinking resulting in Bo becomming a genie but it doesn’t look like that is going to happen.
For that to happen, he would have to wish that he had the other Genie instead of this Genie so he could reverse the curse to get the Bore Nest back. I don’t see that happening. But, if that were to happen, there would be no way to de-Geniefy Bo and all sale are final and there a no return and no exchange policy here. Then they would have to get Bo back too.
Boss now knows that Jeannie can’t undo another genie’s magic, but he could try wishing that he owned all three genies. That would give him the three bottles and COULD very likely change Bo and Luke into genies.
Since neither Bo or Luke aren’t real Genie’s that might work. But, if they were real Genie’s with there own totem, that would not work, because, one Genie can’t take another Genie bottle or totem like that and give it to someone else. Jeanie doesn’t have that power if they were real Genie. Boss Hogg would have to get hold of those Genie Bottle or totems himself and take possession of them, like he took possession of Jeanie bottle. Even if he steal it, he has to get possession of them and not the currently holder of them.
Then it also doubtful that Jeanie has that kind of power or authority to do that too.
I suppose the incentive would be that they each get (supposedly) THREE MORE wishes–as they both have used up one wish already with their current genie.
Yes, it really is too easy how they baited and are reeling Boss Hogg in. I don’t doubt that they will eventually reel him in, but, I think there going to have trouble doing it before they finally finish with him.
Well, Lord Guano could provide a long list of Jeannie’s “defects” from a Djinn perspective. Since this Hazzard County arc seems to be in its own bubble universe, I’m guessing Guano or Araceli won’t be showing up, but it would be sort of funny to see Guano and Hogg, the 2 blustering fools, interacting.
The Genie is evidently defective. The Genie is not honouring the Genie Code to work by stealth, although I am not familiar with the universe so that may not be an issue there. The Genie is also using magic like crazy. The Genie is capable of picking up the bottle. The Genie appears to have a fixation with gender swapping; authorised Genies should not do this. The Genie appears to have an inclination – which surfaces in times of stress – to honour the Genie Keeper sexually; this is fine by the Genie Code although the Code requires this always to be consensual – black mark there. In the Genie’s defence, the Genie was not magically taught through energy-transmutation the Genie Code, which should have been automatic on graduating to Genie Level. The recruitment of Genies in this Universe appears to be against the Genie Code. Genies are given isolation torture and their bottles are not recirculated; they also appear to be bound to the bottle under Conjurations of Abjuration. The isolation torture is against all known Genie Codes to me, Conjurations of Abjuration while not against all Codes are against my Code and most Codes.
The presence of Genie Poisons is a particular problem, particularly those capable of uncontrolled magic-forcing. This can actually have limited use medically, but such substances should be considered contraband and strictly controlled.
Additionally, this Genie has used magic in control games against her Master. This is against all Genie Codes except for Trainee Genies, and then only in strictly controlled environments overseen by Higher Genies. These Higher Genies may not always be present in *appearance* but should always be there in *resonance*. I *think* the Genie Code has been broken there, but cannot prove it.
It should be noticed that Araceli is involved in intra-Genie control games that at least appear to invoke permanent imprisonment, Master theft, and complete internal hard binding to the Totem. This is against *all* Genie Codes. A Genie who is imprisoned and fails to serve in that degree should be dimensionally shifted and given a new home, with less power, or returned to a parallel timeline of different aspect. This does require significant power.
Lord Guano has broken the Genie Code in power over others games consistently, and in my view should be retrained immediately.
Jeannie *has* twisted wishes *maliciously*. This is against the Genie Code.
There have been so many breaches here. GenieCorp is considering legal action.
I’m guessing that once she is back in Neil’s possession Jeanie will be able to change them back. Right now she’s obligated to her current master (Boss) but once she’s not obligated she can probably undo it.
Jeanie didn’t try to wish them back to being boy again. When they complained to her, she told them there were other choices that she could have decided to turn them into or state of mind, like oblivion. Basic attitude was be happy that you were only turned into girls.
Yes, once Neil get Jeanie back into his possession, he can make a new wish to turn Bo and Luke back into boy’s. That is once Neil has Jeanie’s bottle and is officially her master again. Until then, they are stuck as girl and there nothing that either Neil or Jeanie can do about it.
page 355, Jeanie say “I already tried to change them back”, so yes, she did try. But I re-read the wish on 354, and she claims she can’t undo it while Boss Hogg holds her bottle. Whether she’s guessing, or its something Neil would know from the manual….
So, Hogg had bitten at the bait. Let’s see if they can reel him in.
He’s been reeled in. They just need to make sure they know how to keep him in the boat. I don’t think they will.
Now all they need is a good blow-off like the end of the Wire. (The Wire is the long con that they run on the boss in The Sting.)
Maybe I’m wrong, but this seems too easy.

Not a good plan!

I wonder what Boss Hogg’s reaction will be when he learns those aren’t actual genies but the two people he been trying to catch forever?

Even though she knows they are acting, Jennie still is offended at being called ” defective”.
If I know Jean well enough by now, “he’ll” make some payback with Neil and Boss Hogg later.
Maybe Boss Hogg can be his “own” genie? 😉
Gack. Boss Hogg poledancing in a strip club.
@Frith Ra: Maybe Boss Hogg can be his “own” genie?
I dunno – he’s shaped more like the bottle.
Jeannie seems… jealous?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
A) Called it!
B) Defective how? Limited range? Duration? No wish safety?

This would make an AWESOME filler arc.

Straight up?
They still have to get Boss Hogg to wish the Duke Boys back, don’t they? Because Jean already tried to reverse that wish, and couldn’t….
