Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
In her role as Haji's First, Lahab leads Haji's Harem. She is a Jann genie, one of the few elementals left in the world. She and Kazom are "old friends".
I think it means head matriarch. She’s going to be taking over Lahab’s job as Guano’s first wife, overseer of the harem, and, to quote the “Cast” information, “den mother” to the other djinn.
Did something happen to Jeanie’s powers so she couldn’t magic herself back on her feet? Does that dress limit them, and, if so, why? To keep here there, maybe?
Will a still young Jeanie finally pop back in fifty years to find an elderly Natalie, married to Rodge and the mother — and grandmother — of a horde of kids? These would be real people, but if Jeanie fixes things, they all cease to have ever existed.
1. It’s a mundane dress, and Jeanie isn’t used to using her magic to solve mundane problems.
2. She’s afraid that ruining this dress will piss of the genies that she doesn’t know she’s much more powerful than.
And it’s a Happy-Hubba-Hubba Banner New Year!
I must say, her lace balloons are quite festive, yes?

So, Jeanie’s going to be free of her over-bearing master and his relentless unreasonable demands, eh? That’ll teac–what? Oh, right, sorry. So Neil’s going to be free of his relentlessly overbearing genie, eh? About ti–WHAT?
OK, fine:
So Natalie’s going to be free to marry Roger and live happily ever after, eh?
thanks for the correction. We don’t see whatsisname often enough for me to remember.

Ever since Arcali moved in I figured this was going to have Jean stuck in the genie realm forever. Now she either needs to find some reason she can stay in the human realm, or hope that Neil can rescue her.
My assumption for how this ends is that Jean is going to find some way to go home, but since she’s the matriarch Neil can’t be her master anymore, so Arcali will move in with them.
And – just conjecturing here – once Jeanie gets her bearings, she’s going to realize she is the one with power – Guano has shown himself to be week and indecisive – Jeanie can easily be the power behind the throne (As so many woman have been before her…).
I hope it’s required based on power level, or required by some archaic law or tradition, or part of someone in authority’s evil/amoral plan, or confirmed to be the result of incompetence in a decision maker, or a way to to keep Jeanie under watch/control. (Or something I haven’t thought of that makes it make sense.) Because otherwise it does seem like an odd choice.
Still, CD has pulled of a lot of surprising twists and initially confusing plots that ended up working.
Jeanie is Guano’s “wife” due to the Blue Djinn’s evil meddling, and Guano is apparently now being raised to the role of Haji. Otherwise they wouldn’t be doing this.
If Jeanie wasn’t the stubborn type… she’d realize that a life of power and luxury and being right around the top of the pecking order is a major upgrade… she’s a hedonist and self-centered and willing to brute things with her magic if things don’t go her way… She’ll fit right in.
Being separated from her friends would first mean she had some.
As much as I would love to see a rehabilitated Rita return to the comic (in fanfiction, she and Jeanie are huge friends–and CD is unlikely to include that relationship), there’d be no explanation in canon as to why either Rita or Danny to be in Florida.
I really just cannot stand any of the other Genie characters, so I’m really hoping that there’s some chaos that gets to happen and most of them get some freaking comeuppance as Jeanie shoves their entire awful society up their own butts. Like every time the other genies show up, I get really irritated with them.
Frnakly, yes. I want her to thrash the Genies around and frankly do something that either brings down their crappy society or causes it to change so she can go back to Earth and be left alone by all of those losers.
So… why, exactly, is Jeannie about to become matriarchal head? In https://jeaniebottle.com/?comic=jeanie-bottle-601, Lahab told her that there was no rush; that she could go one for hundreds of years, etc.
My guess is because Guano just got raised to the position of Haji, and since Jeanie is his “First”, that makes her the equivalent of “Queen” in genie society.
What Lahab told her is that it can be hundreds of years before she’s expected to bear Guano a child. Not the same thing as being the matriarch. My guess is that the previous Haji was still in power at the time, but he’s now stepped down and Guano has taken his place, so as his wife Jeanie now has to take her place by his side.
Like that dress your world came falling down and at least they found a can opener.
So a few thousand years than?
Jeanie: ARE YOU OUTTA YOUR FREAKIN’ NUT?!?!?!
what do they mean by head of Martiarchal
ps 1st

A form of social organization in which a woman is the head. Oh great Jean going to be in charge!!!!
damn it let’s get back to natalie this thing sucks
No need to be rude. Not least because it’ll just make CD *not* want to acquiesce.
Time for her to start flexing those Blue Djinn powers on these weaker morons.
She may have raw power but no idea what to do with it. Lahab, meanwhile …
I think I can hear the gears in Jeanie’s head creaking to a speedy halt. XD

Will a still young Jeanie finally pop back in fifty years to find an elderly Natalie, married to Rodge and the mother — and grandmother — of a horde of kids? These would be real people, but if Jeanie fixes things, they all cease to have ever existed.
My guess is two-fold:
1. It’s a mundane dress, and Jeanie isn’t used to using her magic to solve mundane problems.
2. She’s afraid that ruining this dress will piss of the genies that she doesn’t know she’s much more powerful than.

Hah, works for me!
Though his name is Rodge. I’ve seen you used “Roger” in recent comments.

My assumption for how this ends is that Jean is going to find some way to go home, but since she’s the matriarch Neil can’t be her master anymore, so Arcali will move in with them.
That certainly seems to be the likely reason that Araceli assumes Neil is now available to be her master.
I don’t think Neil is very likely to be OK with this.
Panel 4: “More THEN an hour?” should be “…THAN…”
Fixed.
Huh. Is Guano running the show now?
I honestly thought the very first thing he’d do was work out how to get rid of her. Doesn’t he, uh, despise her?
Lahab’s talk with Jeanie, some years ago, seemed to indicate that *neither* of them have that option, due to the Hubun Jadid.
And – just conjecturing here – once Jeanie gets her bearings, she’s going to realize she is the one with power – Guano has shown himself to be week and indecisive – Jeanie can easily be the power behind the throne (As so many woman have been before her…).
How in their right mind would make Jeanie head of ANYTHING Genie related?!
Well, thanks to Blue’s meddling Jeanie happens to be:
a) a very powerful genie.
b) bond to Guano and expecting his child.
So the marriage was Lahab playing politics and trying to do some damage control. After all she had to make the same sacrifice as Jeanie long ago.

Dagor’s suggestion could work, too.
Jeanie is Guano’s “wife” due to the Blue Djinn’s evil meddling, and Guano is apparently now being raised to the role of Haji. Otherwise they wouldn’t be doing this.
Standing I like Jeanie’s dress better. Apart from green not being her colour (in comic).
I have to agree, it looks better when she’s standing up. Maybe Lahab poofed some breathing room into it when she helped Jeanis get up.
That explains why Araceli was so happy in 765. Also Alya needs to read the room.
And Jean just moved into a new house in the human world, too…
She can still commute, right? The human world is basically just her bedroom suite anyway at this point.
I don’t think it works that way. Becoming Guano’s first means cutting ties with the human world entirely, and to focus on the genie side.
Jean’s hair looks good that way. The dress looks great as well, but it may need a slit down one leg to allow for greater mobility.
Use the can opener.
If Jeanie has to live in the palace does that mean her bottle will be empty, poof it back to the house and Natalie gets to be the new bottle genie?
I assume that if Jeanie has to stay in the palace the bottle will be safely locked in the vault.
Back to the boat. A very nice couple to round out the guest list for the cruise would be Danny and Rita.
As much as I would love to see a rehabilitated Rita return to the comic (in fanfiction, she and Jeanie are huge friends–and CD is unlikely to include that relationship), there’d be no explanation in canon as to why either Rita or Danny to be in Florida.
Artistic license. If it is funny it is possible

Sooo, you expect Jeanie will just mary-sue her way out of this? She may be powerful, but just power won’t allow her to win against all genies.
Frnakly, yes. I want her to thrash the Genies around and frankly do something that either brings down their crappy society or causes it to change so she can go back to Earth and be left alone by all of those losers.
Well, don’t worry too much. Things like this are never permanent in the comic universe.
So… why, exactly, is Jeannie about to become matriarchal head? In https://jeaniebottle.com/?comic=jeanie-bottle-601, Lahab told her that there was no rush; that she could go one for hundreds of years, etc.

Well, that’s going to be a “smooth” transition for everyone involved.
That dress does have a lot of bling on it.
