Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
A former Genie Lord, Kazom is a 3000+ year old Genie who exists in the form of a witch familiar while still serving as a genie to a teenage boy in California.
A junior engineer working for a small engineering firm in Cocoa Beach. The firm focuses mostly on NASA projects.
Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
Looking over the Rouyaa and Andy strips, one thing is not clear to me. When they were living together, were they in the apartment that Andy ended up having (Jean’s future apartment) when they had forgotten each other and were neighbors? If they were, then Jeanie with Rouyaa’s memories can get very close to where Rouyaa is now—unless, of course, she’s been moved, which could easily be the case, given the elapsed time.
Here’s the story of Rouyaa and Andy (For about the next 30 strips or so.). Rouyaa reappears later, at the end of the Blue Djinn story, but that’s much shorter, and not directly connected.
An example of where they lived together in Coco Beach (which Jeanie with Rouyaa’s memories should remember; however, it’s nor clear to me if it is where Rouyaa as Ms. Eden lives in the comic’s present): https://jeaniebottle.com/archives/comic/jeanie-bottle-387
An example of Rouyaa with memories erased living next to her former Master, Andy in the apartment she would continue to live in when Jean and Neil became here neighbors—but it’s unclear if Jeanie with Rouyaa’s removed memories would know to go there: https://jeaniebottle.com/archives/comic/jeanie-bottle-396
I apologize for being so late in seeing the question and getting back to you.
C’mon, if someone else is going to be occupying your body for awhile, leaving an explanatory note is the least you can do. Something like “The year is 2023. The cat is Kazom. You’ll only be here for a few hours but it’s very important you write down the location of the McGuffin in that time. Have lunch or watch TV, but please don’t use magic if at all possible. Thank you.”
Genies, even ones with 3000 years of experience, aren’t terribly smart.
She didn’t mess with genie laws, she inadvertently disobeyed Haji’s law (which may or may not be considered the same thing). Kazom said she was “well regarded” and “a trusted member of Lahab’s harem” (page 731). She was also “loyal” (page 732). All of that was before Haji snatched her memories and power. I wonder if those traits still apply.
What could go wrong? Jeanie lets Rouyaa know she will get her memory eresed if she messes with the NASA budgetmand she now owns Rouyaa’s bottle. Rouyaa doesn’t mess with the budget ans so Jeanie is a genie without a bottle? Then what happens. Does she get a new bottle or just Rouyaa’s old wine bottle?
It was established very early on that wishes cannot prevent previous wishes from being granted. It would logically follow that a genie with time-travel powers cannot prevent themselves from having become a genie, as it would have thus been impossible for them to go back in time to prevent their genie-fication.
This is likely why Jeanie remained a genie despite changing the past such that Jean never picked up the bottle, and Neil became a genie in his place.
All of us who thought less of Neil for falling asleep, including myself, owe him an apology. He didn’t “fall asleep”, he’s been anesthetized. So have Kazom and Jeanie herself.
I have a theory on how that earlier cameo came about… Rouyaa/Jeanie realizes that she’s late for Andy’s birthday and teleports home, only to end up in the past. Andy/Neil gets dragged along because of the memory dump.
Body swap her mind in Jean present body.
Ms. Eden /Rouyaa swapped her past mind to Jeans present day body.
Let’s hope Kazom has woken up or things might not go as he planned.
Oh, come on, false memories and a time-traveling genie; what could possibly go wrong?
You’re right, everything will be fine, and I will just go hide behind these big bags of sand with my fingers in my ears.
They never do LOL
And so the chaos begins anew….

Could you post a pointer to those strips, please?

Double colored speech bubbles?
Look at the last two panels. It’s a subtle effect, but it is there.
partially color blind, what colors do you see?
Jeanie’s speech bubbles in the last two panels have a red border, with a black border around that.
The bubble’s outlines are red and black, slightly offset. The text inside is normal.
I’d never have noticed if it hadn’t been pointed out.

I suspect that something went wrong and Kazom got possessed as well, which he didn’t expected.
Everybody’s asleep. No witnesses?
I dunno… you could be descibing Congress.
Rouymaa last day as a genie before she messed with genie laws.

Let’s not replay the argument about what happens if you change the past.
Oh, I agree but with Jeanie’s history I believe that is a given.
It was established very early on that wishes cannot prevent previous wishes from being granted. It would logically follow that a genie with time-travel powers cannot prevent themselves from having become a genie, as it would have thus been impossible for them to go back in time to prevent their genie-fication.

Robert, can you check my comments? One says “Waiting for moderation”.
Done.
welcome to 21st century

Why do I feel Kazom is possesed by Andy?
I have a theory on how that earlier cameo came about… Rouyaa/Jeanie realizes that she’s late for Andy’s birthday and teleports home, only to end up in the past. Andy/Neil gets dragged along because of the memory dump.
Possibly time-travelling to not be late?
And who am I?
