Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
Shula is an old genie! She probably could look as young as she wants to. From what can be seen of her body, she doesn’t look saggy at all. Just the face has wrinkles. Also yes, no shame.
Public bathing in lava implies genie society does not have much of a nudity taboo. Body modesty is probably pointless for them when their default outfits are literally coded into their appearance for lack of a better term.
I’m not leaving, but I agree with your statement. The only entertaining storyline that focused on the Genie Society was when the Blue Djinn got out and was causing havoc. And even then it was pretty ‘eh’ until near the end. I was hoping we’d actually spend more time on the boat for a bit.
These Genie characters are, as a whole, just not interesting and it just feels like we’re treading water.
Well, the whole genie society is supposed to be extremely conservative, almost to the point of cultural paralysis, so it probably shouldn’t come as a surprise that there’s not usually much excitement to be had there.
I guess that’s the price of extreme longevity plus phenomenal cosmic powers: no need to learn or progress like puny mortals do.
The manga “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” delves in how a society of short living humans can equal or even surpass the capacities of demons and elves simply with many generations investigating and coming up with new ideas.
The original Jeannie also wore the green and gold outfit in the show.
If she wanted to wear a harem outfit similar to her original one – the green and gold outfit would be a descent choice. If memory serves – Green is a symbol of nature, fertility, and a bountiful harvest in Muslim culture. And is typically worn as a symbol of respect in Muslim and Arabic cultures.
Whereas gold represents traditional wealth and status.
However, the combination of green and gold is meant to symbolize wealth, royalty, and that someone is either of important heritage. Or, in some circumstances, divine or (for lack of a better term) kingly / queenly.
CD Rudd already got it right with the original outfit Jeannie was introduced in this chapter. And going with a more resplendent version of the Jeannie Sister outfit would be fitting for Jeannie to wear in this chapter. She’s a princess now. And the colors would symbolize that.
Black might work as well. Though to my knowledge this is meant for people of authority and religion figures. Though my knowledge of this is, at best, surface level.
Edit: Honestly, I would be curious to hear CD’s opinion on this. Not on the outfit, but on the color combination.
They should probably go with something that has a commanding presence but is easier to move in than the previous “monstrosity”. Less “I am an elegant lady” and more “do NOT toy with your Queen”.
Question for the author that’s been bugging me for awhile now…
Jean/Jeanie, in the process of becoming a Genie, basically went through magical sex transition.
They’ve adapted a lot to their current life though, and I’m not sure at this point which would be considered the authentic them and which is just them trying to fit in.
I guess what I’m asking is…
Was Jeanie a trans girl egg who lucked out to be suddenly post-transition that still does some guy things out of habit (which would explain why she’s actually dropped a lot of those habits) and has the unique situation of trying to figure out her identity after an unexpected transition
Or
Is Jeanie now a pre-op trans guy and he used to be a cis guy but the dysphoria is tempered by “Hey, genie powers and long life and maybe was able to turn of dysphoria with genie powers”
Or
Is Jeanie genderfluid and it really doesn’t matter what sex they are?
Or
“Jeanie’s not even remotely human anymore, don’t assume genies have neuroendocrinology that’s equivalent to humans. Jeanie would have adapted just as well to being an eight-dimensional agender purple hippopotomus with belly wings, and everything we’re seeing is just magical genie-realm allagory and we can’t truly comprehend what’s happening here (see Star Trek’s Q for reference).”
I’m guessing not one of the latter two since Jeanie constantly turns Nate into a girl, implying either a desire for revenge or a subconscious desire to “share the love” so to speak (but just done in her normal antagonistic way of doing a lot of things).
Wow… that’s a lot of thought put into those scenarios.
There’s also the possibility, that Jean was a normal guy, turned into a genie with a female body and has spent a year looking like a female human; and therefore adopted some female tendencies.
Yea, I can’t help but think about it, lol. Both my parents are counselors and I assisted with DE&I at my last job, in addition to having been born intersex and then the doctors making the wrong decision on what to do with that which had to be corrected later in life. So, I’m kinda forced to think about it a lot.
Now, normally you wouldn’t make these kinds of guesses on a real life person (with trans-ness, a kind of “Prime Directive” exists, especially if there’s some nuance you miss, like they’re not a binary trans but genderfluid, for example). Unless you’re a skilled counselor, generally you just let the person figure it out on there own as there’s problems otherwise, BUT fictional characters are perfect for open speculation (and in fact encouraged so people can talk about the stuff without pressure, and onlookers who may be under the trans umbrella can consider things without pressure).
So, “Jean was a normal guy, turned into a genie with a female body and has spent a year looking like a female human; and therefore adopted some female tendencies” would fall under the gender-fluid umbrella.
Probably either pure genderfluid or demi-male.
But they’ve adapted way too easily to being a woman to originally be a typical cis-male if this was a realistic presentation. (For example, most trans people are used to it, but a cis person who suddenly fully transitioned against their will would be hit by gender dysphoria without the years of numbing to it as a baby. Trans people can feel it lightly again if they transition and then their transition meds are taken away. It feels like fire ants are crawling around inside your veins, not great.) For a cis-male suddenly female, the pain would be unbearable as their entire nervous system would be rejecting their entire body without build-up numbing.
And the all of a sudden excitement with the opportunity to play ‘dress-up’ when Jean first became Jeanie is like the most stereotypical trans girl thing ever. Like, nearly every trans girl I’ve known (regardless if MTF or ITF), the first step once they’ve accepted it is a rush into a wardrobe makeover to try out a bunch of different looks. (Playing dress-up with yourself is very much not stereotypical male behavior.)
“For example, most trans people are used to it, but a cis person who suddenly fully transitioned against their will would be hit by gender dysphoria without the years of numbing to it as a baby.”
Unless magic is involved. Phenomenal Cosmic Powers and all that.
Exactly. Magic is a cheat code. How it affects game mechanics may be unpredictable. Hence my fourth option: “we can’t truly comprehend what’s happening here”
I still think that magic takes its time changing the brain/mind from male to female. The body, instantaneously. The mind, ( https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DTfmS6nHOyA ).
There are cognitive differences between male and female brains that affect everything from spatial-visualization to comprehension and writing ability. (Stanford Medicine)
Assuming an instantaneous physical change from a male to a female brain structure, and the sudden change in hormone balance (less testosterone, more estrogen), it might be plausible to assume a rapid acclimation to that person’s new identity. Wham! Physiological changes followed rapidly by emotional acceptance.
It’s been a year since Jean transformed. Jeanie has had sex twice and the only real freakout has been about not wanting to get pregnant.
I know you asked this question of the CD Rudd, but I’m going to echo his sentiment that yeah, Jean was just a ‘normal’ guy that has been trapped in a VERY attractive female body and has simply adapted to being a woman now, despite the fact that Jean very much clearly stills considers himself male in many respects (even if he has made peace with being a she and accepting that aspect of her life now). Occam’s Razor: The simplest solution is often the correct one.
And the comic you linked, if you had the power to become any fictional female character at the drop of a hat, wouldn’t you be taking some private time to indulge yourself? I know I’d be getting some time in as Lara Croft.
I mean this is the nicest way possible, but it feels like you might be projecting a bit onto Jean. I’ve seen nothing that suggests Jean was and is anything other than a normal guy doing his best to adapt to a extremely weird situation.
Time WILL always tell, but again, Occam’s Razor and no evidence that there’s anything else happening here.
@gary: Are you kidding? People still listen to Mozart, and he’s been dead for over two centuries. I was in a revival of “Hair” in college; good music transcends the passage of time.
She’s a Twi’Lek. Togruta have large, vertival head growths that always terminate in points and a third mass of flesh that hangs off the back of their skulls. Twi-Leks are the original ‘sexy’ alien from Star Wars, and before the big lore change with the Clone Wars Twi-Lek females were basically slave fodder and were constantly being bought and sold.

Pessimist version: “May the worse be with you.”
Cowboy version; “May the horse be with you.”
Brooklyn version: “May yourse be wit you.”
Back to the island. Many people can sense a change in the barometric pressure and predict rain. Araceli’s headache could mean THE storm is about to hit.
Time for a fashion show!
for the luva.. SHULA, Poof your clothes back on!!!
lol she’s an old lady. No shame.

Public bathing in lava implies genie society does not have much of a nudity taboo. Body modesty is probably pointless for them when their default outfits are literally coded into their appearance for lack of a better term.
Also, there’s no menfolk around to gawk at them, thus less need to cover up.
*pokes Jean*
C’mon Jeannie…Do something. Destroy this stupid society of genies and cast them aside for the remainder of the comic.
I think I’m going to leave this comic for a while. I’m bored with this society of genies, nothing interesting happens.
I’m not leaving, but I agree with your statement. The only entertaining storyline that focused on the Genie Society was when the Blue Djinn got out and was causing havoc. And even then it was pretty ‘eh’ until near the end. I was hoping we’d actually spend more time on the boat for a bit.

Maybe Jeannie can stir things up a bit.
As if anything interesting would be likely to happen on the boat.
Just a wild guess but how about Rodge emerging from the cabin in the morning with a black eye because he was drunk and grabby.
That would actually be fun to see. Particularly if Rodge was limping.
He’s really become a jerk, of late.
He’s as bad as pre-TG’ed Jean. Here’s a thought; how ’bout an alternate reality where Rodge was Jean’s best friend in high school instead of Neil.
Sorry you aren’t enjoying the story.
Come on Jeannie’s sisters green and gold outfit. Come on Jeannie’s sisters green and gold outfit.
Those are Nell’s colors, too. (See the fanfiction files.)

I know I am, though!
I think it’s interesting.
Me too.
Genie Rarity is going to need her fainting coach.
Yeah, Jean should go back to the Star Trek uniforms.

Or the “ex-man” one (Rogue).
Always love the “ex-man” TG pun! 🙂
What was the date of that Patreon post? Thanks!
March 19th.
To further clarify, it’s post titled “Genie Group Wallpaper” from March 17th, which requires a patron to join the Bay tier to be able to see.
Thanks for confirming that Robert. I am one tier shy so that explains it!
Shula’s outfit is the one that never goes out of style.
New outfit maybe Jeanie’s next banner? MothMom to be outfit?
A new look for Jean, yay new banner time woooooooooo
Maybe there will be a new banner…. May be forth coming.
Stop teasing us.
and I still want to hear Araceli HAVE to call her “Aunt Jeanie.”
Worse… “My Lady.”
They should probably go with something that has a commanding presence but is easier to move in than the previous “monstrosity”. Less “I am an elegant lady” and more “do NOT toy with your Queen”.
lol I like Shula. She’s quickly becoming one of my favorite characters.
Yeah, she’s fun. And she doesn’t take any BS from anyone.

I always understood that the transformation changed her core being to a female genie – didn’t Kazom tell her so?
I know you asked this question of the CD Rudd, but I’m going to echo his sentiment that yeah, Jean was just a ‘normal’ guy that has been trapped in a VERY attractive female body and has simply adapted to being a woman now, despite the fact that Jean very much clearly stills considers himself male in many respects (even if he has made peace with being a she and accepting that aspect of her life now). Sometimes it’s so hard to resist violating the trans prime directive….
Okay, now I REALLY want to see the eight-dimensional purple hippo Jean.
You would need the ability to see eight dimensions instead of just four.
Maybe we can. I’ve never encountered an eight-dimensional object, so I don’t know what it looks like.
How would you know if you encountered an eight-dimensional object?
Check the manufacturer’s label?
So far humans can only get to five dimensions, width, depth, height, time and then the fifth dimension=”Aquarious.”
@gary: HAHAHAHAHA!
Love it.
I was afraid I would be the only one old enough to remember them.
@gary: Are you kidding? People still listen to Mozart, and he’s been dead for over two centuries. I was in a revival of “Hair” in college; good music transcends the passage of time.
Who is the header-Jeannie supposed to be? I don’t recognize the outfit.
I think it is Togruta from Star Wars
https://twinsunsoutpost.com/blog/tag/Star+Wars+Aliens
She’s a Twi’Lek. Togruta have large, vertival head growths that always terminate in points and a third mass of flesh that hangs off the back of their skulls. Today, May 6, is ANTI-Star Wars Day; Revenge of the Sixth.
LOL!
😉
😉
Run, Jeanie! A naked old woman is “ho ho ho”-ing, and that’s never a good sign.
Given how old and how powerful she is… there are but a few who’d dare tell her NOT to go around naked.
Back to the island. Many people can sense a change in the barometric pressure and predict rain. Araceli’s headache could mean THE storm is about to hit.
I love the May the 4th Header!
Jeanie makes a pretty cute Twi’lek, don’t she?
Oops. Well, at least she’ll be consulted now.
