Chapter: Story 12: I Dream of a Promotion
Characters: Blue Djinn, Lord Guano
Oh my… betrayal. Who woulda thunk it?
Oh my… betrayal. Who woulda thunk it?
He is planning to get pregnant from Guano or that ritual that creates a genie from two genies.
I’m not so sure “he” still applies with this plan :-). Also, the ritual might’ve already happened …
(Panels 2 and 4)”He” certainly seems to be getting comfortable in”her” female skin!
Guano secretly liked the kiss. That’s why he poofed away so quickly so nobody can see his face….
That doesn’t seem right, The wife of a Haji who kills a previous Haji becomes Haji?
DELETED STUPID POLITICS COMMENT
– Robert
Almost…
It would be REALLY nice if people didn’t drag politics into these comments
Agreed.
Nice Ash’s Shoulder Devil avatar, by the way.
She (Big Blue) would probably be something like a “caretaker” while their kid grows up. There is a word/term for it but I can’t think of it at the moment. History is replete with situations similar to this. For example, in a modern context if the Queen of England, Prince Charles, and Prince William were to be killed in, say, a plane crash, One of the other family members would temporarily assume the throne until Prince Charles comes of age. A likely candidate to do so would be Princess Kate as she is Charles’ mother even though she is not of noble blood. Another possibility would be Prince Harry even though he has publicly said he doesn’t want to be king. A third possibility is Prince Andrew, although he is in the doghouse right now due to his connection with Jeffery Epstein and the public would likely frown on him doing it.
“Regent” is the word you are looking for, although in lots of fiction (and probably some actual history), the regent will kill off the youngster after a few months/ years, when they have control, and assume the throne.
Since Jean’s spirit was completely evicted during the ceremony, would she still be married to Guano if Blue is stopped, or would Guano be a widower? (Ala Jack Chalker’s “Charon” book(book 3 of the lords of the diamond), where some jobs were tied to bodies, and others were tied to spirits inhabiting the body)
oh, as a postscript, the “next comic” button has been broken since episode 551)
I would guess it depends on HOW will Blue be stopped … and if lord Guano survives so long.
I’m not sure how you missed this, but Blue made it clear that she’s going to frame Guano for the murder. Meaning no one but her and Guano will know that Guano wasn’t the real killer. Then Blue just plays the “grieving widow” card, and says she’ll gallantly take over as leader until her and Guano’s heir comes of age.
But after framing Guano, she won’t be a widow unless they kill Guano. Would he really be killed, Robert? After all, they never killed BLUE, for all his/her crimes- or is killing the Hajii the one crime a genii gets the death penalty for.
Regicide usually also counts as High Treason, and nearly all societies that have a death penalty at all place High Treason as a potential capital offense.
Let see if I understand what going on here.
1. The Blue Djinn going to get pregnant.
2. Going to get Guano named the new Haji to replace the Haji that retiring.
3. Going to kill the old Haji and Guano as the killer of Haji.
4. As the first wife and being pregnant with a male Genie, The Blue Djinn will have to act as the stand in Haji until the Male Genie Baby grow up to take over as the new Haji.
The Blue Djinn got it all figured out as how he or she is going to do everything when it comes to taking over and running the Genie Realm.
But, we know this can’t happen, because, our favorite Genie, Jeanie has to back before that happens.
“But, we know this can’t happen, because, our favorite Genie, Jeanie has to back before that happens.”
It will probably happen at some point after step 1.
Step 1 may have already happened. Back on page 445 Lahab says “… the Hubun Jadids. Each represents a new genie life. A pure genie.” That statement implies that the Hubun Jadid “IS” the new genie, not a wedding vow… and it vanished. Shall we guess where it went?
> But, we know this can’t happen, because, our favorite Genie, Jeanie has to back before that happens.
I mean… do we know that? Sure, it isn’t likely that Jeanie could return to her powers without Blue being defeated. But Blue taking over the genie world doesn’t necessarily have to affect the plot of I Dream of a Jeanie Bottle.
We’ve never even met Haji, so what would really need to change if Haji were actually the Blue Djinn in “disguise”?
Robert, if we follow that logic. Then we would have to say that both the Blue Djinn and Haji are in fact the same person. Each side is following what they think in ignorance is a different powerful Genie Master, but, is the same person. I have a serious problem with that logic. For this story to go in a direction like this, it would really have to get whacked out and go in an irrational and illogical direction even for Jeanie Bottle do that.
CD Rudd like go on side trail like with an arc, like with witches like Bewitched and Duke of Hazard, but, then it back to the main theme of the Jeanie Bottle. Which is fine, it keep the Jeanie Bottle series interesting and all and it still has a general direction that it going in. Most of the Cartoonist out there do good work, but, they seem to go in one or two direction with it. Either getting sexually explosive with there comic or they get silly and totally irrational with it. CD Rudd doesn’t do either one of those things and has comic kind of sort of a plot line in that you can follow and more like Jeanie is an actual person even though we know she isn’t. CD Rudd is putting out some really good quality work. If it were one of those Japanese Anime, it would be one of there better ones. About half to three forth of those Japanese Anime’s out there, the plot line suck and aren’t interesting to watch.
Intense! Turn the crank another notch, CD. 🙂
I think Guano is gonna survive this, though at the moment, I have no clue how Jean is going to be instrumental in bringing down our Blue Meanie. It occurs to me that Blue’s plan depends on Haji actually retiring, so maybe Jean can prevent that? How?
If his heirs bite the big one too, people are going to put two and two together.
The genie soul that Blue took a while back make powerful genies what if he is creating a genie so powerful could become his new body he waited thousands of years already a couple of decades or centuries wouldn’t matter to him.
There is no guareentee that Blue’s child will be male. Could be a girl.
Happy Boxing day. Take the day off and watch a soccer game.
Neil is still (theoretically) Jeanie’s master – can he order her back to Haji, or her totem?
Fun fact, every time a character in a work of fiction have a plan, and we don’t hear the plan, it will work, but every time we do hear the plan, it will fail.
If Neil’s place has internet smart tech (he is a NASA engineer) the Blue Jinn’s speaking her plans out loud could of been recorded on Neil’s home security video cameras. Jean warned him to not go to the apartment, Neil could spy on the Blue Jinn with his smartphone in complete safety. The problem is finding a way to contact Kazom or any other Jinn to show them the audio and video record.
Alexa – Enact Cunning Plan
“Okay I will execute cunning plan for you”
Neil isn’t a NASA engineer, But, Neil is an Engineer for a company that does contract work for NASA, which basically would be almost the same thing of having a NASA engineer. So, besides the smart phone, Neil may have other security measures in place because, of where he works and for security reasons also.
The recording would be audio only–Genies do not show up on video or film.
Ah, of course. The old “throw them under the bus to be dissociated with him” technique. (to circumvent the shared fate thing)
Guano is a wimp and will spill his guts to Haji as soon as he sees him. Haji has probably noticed that Asha is down, Araceli is missing and Jean is weirder than usual. I see a trap. If Blue is banished to his lamp then Jeans bottle will be empty and can turn her back into a Genie unless Rouyaa wants it.
I hate being right all the time, I think I’m getting to smart to enjoy cool stories without guessing where the next step might be heading…
Hmm, so, if Blue succeeds in getting Guano made the new Haji, and then frames Guano for the old Haji’s murder, what happens to “If I go down, you go down”? Or was that not necessarily true?
So only said “If I go down, you go down with me.” She didn’t say it applies in reverse.
Guano could just be “bottled up” for the crime while Blue as his first wife would have to bare the next heir by right of succession. If Guano’s history of being a past student of Blue is commonly known, given that Blue’s magic somehow allows him to kill and is transferable to others like his students, then that’s a plausible motive that Blue can exploit to frame Guano with, I imagine.
