Asha is a genie who lives in LA, masquerading as a human Pop Star. Since her last master died before asking for his final wish, and being buried with Asha's Bottle. Haji has granted Asha the ability to stay in the human world without returning to her bottle.
The Blue Djinn is an evil genie who was apparently defeated by Lord Guano in the past. But now he's back, and he's angling to take down the Genie Lords... but how does Jeanie factor into his plans?
Bum, Bum, Bumbada, donta, donada, Who going to call? Dog Buster. Dinta Dinada Dog Busters. We aint afraid of no Dogs. Yell. Yell, tink, tink, tinada, boom.
Asha warned Jeannie if she decided to play goody two shoes, then Asha would take Guano’s place, and then she would make her life a hell, and told her to keep causing trouble so Guano couldn’t retire.
Say what you want, but in the end, Jeannie continued to cause trouble and now Blue is out free as a bird, and Asha is going to pay the price!
Plus, she didn’t care earlier about there being a murderous renegade on the loose that could have his way with her. Well she’s going to care now being trapped in his clutches.
Is the comic ending? I feel like ever since SailorSun ended this story arc has taken a turn and now feels like it is ramping up towards a finale. I really hope it isn’t, since this is my favorite webcomic right now. It’s not afraid to actually do TFs that have consequences and actual irredeemable villains that are not just one off kill fodder.
CD have gotten this question a lot recently XD But no, CD has no plans of ending the comic just yet, and in fact in a recent stream he just confirm us that he is already planning the next two storylines after the current one, of which at least one have already being teased in previous chapters, so don’t worry!
This storyline is just a Wham Line for future story lines, but don’t worry, there is still more JB in the future ๐
Mr. Domino, Carlos is right, this just a cliff hanger of what going to happen next, before the Blue Djinn get excised from Jeanie body and we go to the next ace. It just means the end of this Arc is about over, but, it doesn’t mean that the Jeanie Bottle series is over. There at least two or more Arc’s of Jeanie bottle coming yet and probably a few more that that.
I am sure we are coming fairly close to the end of this Arc, but, it going to be interesting as to what happens and who discovers the Blue Djinn and can do something to stop him and free Jeanie so she can go back to being her same old stuck up self.
@mnmega I think that having a murderous Genie, with the power to enslave humans to his will, taking over all the other Genies, and maybe the world, maaaaaay still be of Neil’s and Jean’s concern even if they find a way to turn mind broken, human Jeanie into a guy again.
I admit, I don’t care to see Jeanie becomes Jean again any time soon. Rudd hasn’t done much with the sex-change aspect of this story; we have little evidence that it even bothers her that much anymore. Jeanie is at least more fun to look at that Jean was. And I’m still hoping for the Master/Genie dynamic between Neil and Jeanie to be explored. I think that would be more difficult for Jeanie and Neil if both were male.
@50srefugee I don’t think any of us actually want to see Jeanie going back to plain old Jain, is just a plot thread we like to bring up just to see what kind of problems Jeanie could get into in the future. And it’s true the gender bending aspect doesn’t seem to be that important to her, she actually seems to enjoy being a sexy, seemingly bisexual woman, and her biggest concern is the lost of contact with the people she use to know, namely her family (her relationship with Belle is a mystery to me, both of them seems to be eager to get new partners, yet they refuse the break up).
The thing with the Master/Genie dynamics though, is that each Genie seems to have their own idea as to how that works. Araceli, and I assume Alya as well, seem to be the more traditional, you wish is my comand type of Genie. Then we have Kazom who seemingly makes anything on his power to NOT act as regular genie, even though he has been demoted as one, and Asha here who found a loophole to free herself of any genie duties, or even Rouya, a traditional genie with traditional values, who actually become a wife to her master, but according to Andy’s dialogue, she was always the one in charge of that relationship. And now, to make things more interesting, we know Genies use to be the masters of the mortals, with seals to enslave them in the times of Blue. So I don’t think that Jeanie fully is at fault here on the way she handles “most” of her relationship with Neil, yes she exceeds herself a lot, but in theory, her duties as her genie ended a long time ago, and they are still together in base of a mutual agreement, according to genie law itself.
Jeanie wants to stay, and Neils allows it, that’s the agreement, and that’s the rule, and according to the information page, any genie who is under that agreement with their masters, is no longer forced to serve them.
@Carlos: I agree that Jeanie would not tolerate a Your Wish Is My Command style relationship with Neil. But I do feel she wishes–almost without knowing it–that Neil would be just a bit more assertive. I remember back when he needed to make one more wish so she could fulfill her obligation. She was disgusted when all he think of was a ham sandwich. I think part of becoming a genie is that she NEEDS a master, someone who can give her INTERESTING things to do. Part of the reason she gets into trouble is that she’s bored. Finding the right balance of power, and Neil finding things for Jeanie to do, would be a dynamite story.
======
BTW, Kazom, I think, was not a bottle genie, ever, yet still worked in partnership with a human wizard. Asha didn’t “find a loophole”, her master DIED and was buried with her bottle, with one wish left to grant. I think part of her deal is that she doesn’t seek power as a genie. She’s got a more-or-less legitimate career as an entertainer, made her fortune out of that, and that’s enough for her.
Curious you mention it, Kazom does have a Totem, and it even looks like a bottle (a weird one, I must say) which you can see on the character page! All genies seem to be displayed alongside their Totem on the character page… which also raise some questions about Lahab. By all accounts, after losing his tittle of Genie Lord, Kazom in theory answer to the same rules that any other Genie, it’s even proven he has to answer to Guano himself now, his previous student! And it’s also confirmed that Mevin is in fact Kazom’s master, just as Neil is to Jean, and Caley to Araceli.
And Asha did found a loophole, in the sense that not granting all the wishes doesn’t mean you are eternally bound to a master. Masters can loss their genies prematurely (Boss Hogg for example, only got one wish), and thanks to Araceli, we know a Genie can get trapped underground/sea for centuries, and nobody baits an eye, yet a Lord has the power to not only bring a genie out of their totem, but also move the Totem themselves if they so want to (Brining Araceli’s example again, after getting loss in the mail, Guano himself poof her to Cocoa Beach), so, if Asha is as close to Haji, and as respected among genies as she seems to be, she could have asked for a new master, or a place on Haji’s palace. Instead she came with the excuse that her deceased master didn’t get his last wish, yet he keep the bottle, and convinced Haji to let her stay among the mortals instead, in control of her own life.
It seems the dynamic master genie has changed immensely through generations, which makes sense now that we know genies use to be in charge. The oldest ones seems to look at their duties as a bother, while the younger ones accept them as their life style, and something the are not only expect to respect, but even seem to appreciate their roles as servants to both, Human Masters and the Genie Lords. And the genies born of Mortals are a mystery here, they inherit some of those genie instincts, like Jean’s new found liking to serve with a motherly nature, but they still retain their mortal desires, which makes them a wild card.
This plot is way out there. Melvin, BJ and Red show up (cameo) and Red punches out the Blue Dinjnn thinking it’s Jeanie. Blue will cast magic on Red and since a genie cannot mess with another genie magic (Jeannie) the spell will backfire on him and Melvin will accidentally imprison him.
Ghost Busters considering CD’s artwork it will probably be Ghost Bustiers.
Costume ideas would be Nate as Frankenstien. Jean as a Witch. Rodge as a Vampire. And Arcielia as a mummy or a werewolf what is your pick in your opion?
Asha sounds as dumb here as the “witness” in Red Dead Redemption https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ra0-SDmtX4k
“Hey thou art not my friend, thou art that megalomaniacal maniac that plots against Haji, I am going to tell thee this, so I know thou know I know”
Seriously, there is nothing worse than using the idiot ball to advance the plot: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/IdiotBall
Quick call the ghost busters for those dogs! And some one who can keep their mouth shut in front of the blue Djiin
Bum, Bum, Bumbada, donta, donada, Who going to call? Dog Buster. Dinta Dinada Dog Busters. We aint afraid of no Dogs. Yell. Yell, tink, tink, tinada, boom.
You could call his karma or irony.

I mess up my own references. I wanted to say Wham episode, not line XD

I was wondering the same thing since CD said heโd start working on it when sailor sun ended.

No, idea’s here. Basically anything can happen.
Was hoping to see her rampage a it more zapping stuff. Oh well.
Never tell the bad guy you’re on to him, and are going to inform the authorities. That trick never works.
Also, I think this is strong support, if not total confirmation, that the naked girl is the current receptacle for Our Jeanie.
I am deeply disturbed by the idea of a powerless human finding herself the slave and plaything of a being like the Blue Djinn.
Yeah, that’s a good point. This clearly *is* Blue. Which is very not-good for Jeanie.
If only they could switch Jeanie’s gender back in that human body, then they can just say “eff it” to all the magic mumbo-jumbo.

Asha has given a possible loop hole here… but I wont say anything more. Hope is certainly not lost just.. yet .
Halloween back round is it coming soon or Halloween costumes for the cast?
That’d be nice. I know Carlos is doing a Halloween thing for the Melvin Chronicles cast. Don’t know if CD has any plans for JB.

Ah, that dangerous point between recognizing a dangerous situation and knowing you need to not talk about it.
