Jeanie Bottle 524
Apologies for the late post, folks. I’m afraid it could not be avoided. At least we finally get confirmation of Lilly’s true nature, though! 🙂
Happy 4th of July to our American readers, btw! And happy 4th to everyone else, though I imagine it’s not quite so special a day for you international folks. 🙂
I mean isn’t it special to the rest of the world? It is the day that Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum saved the world from aliens after all.
Good point!
The day that an Apple computer finally found something it could interface with, it just wasn’t anything on this planet 🙂
Actually, that isn’t unreasonable. Because the first ship crashed near Roswell back in the 40’s, where do you think Jobs and Wozniak got the original program codes?
Julius Levinson: AAAHHH, don’t give me unprepared! You knew about this for years! What, with that spaceship you found in New Mexico! What was it called… Roswell, New Mexico! And that other place… uh… Area 51, Area 51! You knew then! And you did nothing!
mike: you’re more right than you probably know. There’s a deleted scene which explains that the tech revolution was kickstarted by the tech they found in that alien ship.
Ahh, yes, ID4… Where aliens in sixteen-mile-wide spacecraft arrive on Earth and blow up the White House… but later prove to be hostile.
lol
Why am I having flashbacks to a Little Shop and a Big Green Mother from Outer Space?
(You get a cookie for knowing the reference.)
I referenced Little Shop of Horrors a few pages ago, I want my cookie.
Also, does Blue really think no one will notice that Lilly is wearing a new outfit? I don’t think “distracted” is a strong enough word.
Both Rodge and Neil know that Jeanie is a Genie… however, she would have just revealed that fact to Lilly (which they don’t know is Blue’s construct). Really, unless Neil is totally dense (not improbable) he should realize that something’s wrong with this picture. Rodge would remain clueless because he seems to be smitten by Lilly.
I love that movie. Do you like the cut ending or the theatrical ending better? I kind of feel the cut ending is a bit more appropriate.
“So you’re distracted.” I have a feeling that this does not bode well for Blue.
“Feed me, Seymour!”
So he brought a plant to life to kill Nate and Rodge but has plans of her own maybe Jean is in there secretly and will save the day?
I like Lilly. What will happen to her if you feed her fertilizer?
Maybe she’ll get bustier? 🙂
Maybe she’ll turn into an Amazoness?
She will want snu-snu
I hope you had a happy Canada Day and have a safe 4th of July.
Ohhh, I had a good Canada Day last year! I was visiting CD at the time, and he showed me around Ottawa. That was fun.
Is the moronic friend moronic enough not to notice an outfit change?
Well, considering that Blue knows next to nothing about Neil and seems to be basing that “moronic” line on how Neil doesn’t act toward Jean as Blue expects him to act, I think the answer to your question is likely “No”.
Is she a Une or a mandrake?
From what I recall, the plants original form was similar to a Venus Fly Trap.

… a mimic trap from deepest rainforest.
How long has it been since Haji’s day started, and how much left until the day ends?
The establishing shot for the restaurant shows that it’s currently night. So Haji Day most likely lasts until midnight, but who knows how many hours away that might be.
Midnight in Baghdad
If the time limit was midnight in Baghdad, then it would be already over in Cocoa Beach, since Baghdad is GMT+3, while Eastern Daylight Time is GMT-4.

Brilliant!
Wait…something is missing here.
How on earth did the Plant meet Rodge in the first place? It was originally in Neil’s apartment when it made its first appearance.
And I don’t remember ever seeing Blue transporting it outside of the apartment, so unless the plant was capable of teleporting itself, it should have still been there even after transforming….
Maybe Lilly jumped out the window to look for yummy men to eat? We already know that she doesn’t really seen loyal to Blue, so she may have just up and immediately disobeyed orders as soon as she was mobile.
Wait, what happened to Lilly’s arm in the first two panels? Did Blue do that?
Don’t you see the “crack”? Of course she did.
I guess I meant the vine-thing coming out of her shoulder, is that a natural response to damage or not. Probably should have been more specific.
Both men will certainly notice Lyekka’s… uh, “Lily’s” dress upgrade.
They are men, Lily has been out of sight for more than 5 seconds, and they are hungrily waiting for dinner to be served. What miracle would cause them to notice?
The only thing that can distract men from food is sex.
So it IS that plant and just isn’t much loyal and has own plans. And big appetite.
It’s probably for good. Introducing another powerful element would make the story too complicated.
The plant has dinner plans involving Blue.
That isn’t good for Jeanie.
No one will notice her suddenly wearing a new outfit!
Also: August 28, 2018.
That’s almost a full year ago, but that’s where she started with this plant.
Yeah… but this is a comic time scale.
Thanks, Marscaleb. I would have gone nuts trying to find that.
Also, the time scale has passed comic and is now verging on cosmic.
Everyone’s sarcastically pointing out that “no one will notice Lilly’s new dress”, but failing to realize that Blue could easily explain the quick change away with “Her outfit was totally ruined, so I loaned her this dress.”
Rodge and Neil both know that Jeanie is magical, so they could infer that she magic’d up the dress without Lilly’s knowledge, then handed it to her to put on.
Or that it was simply a top that was ruined and the dress underneath was fine.
And given that they’re guys (and it is probably a dimly lit restaurant) they will probably not notice it is a slightly different shade of green.
“I created you to seduce his moronic friend.” That is, to seduce Neil.
But what if Neil is in fact faithful to Jeanie? (I’m keeping in mind, though, the counterexample of that time jeanie set him up with Belle, Jean’s girlfriend, an even I still find rather disturbing.)
Jeanie definitely has issues as far as Belle is concerned, a girlfriend she doesn’t trust enough to tell the truth to. And of course, there’s Jean’s male ego still rattling around in the background. Add to that, a genie is supposed to make their master/mistress happy. Perhaps that tryst was a side effect of all these motivations combining to dominate Jean/Jeanie’s subconscious needs as a genie.
Wait, is she *gasp* Poison Ivy?
I believe Poison Ivy has red hair. I like the comparison though.
Alas for any hope toward defeating Blue, I’m guessing Lilly’s agenda has nothing to do with him. I think her main goal remains to use his distraction to get more meat instead of having to share her order 4 ways.
