Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
A junior engineer working for a small engineering firm in Cocoa Beach. The firm focuses mostly on NASA projects.
Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
Neil deserved getting frogged, for exactly the reason Jeanie says: he failed his duty as a Master to protect his genie’s totem.
And yet her first response was a big happy smile. She’s glad to see him, and I think not just because he can rescue her.
Neal, Jeanie’s not Jean. You no longer have a male roomate. You have a hot girl who wants and needs you to take her in hand, to protect her, and to let her serve you.
I agree. Jean’s reactions: smile first, then hit and complain, do seem girlish.
And Bo — or is it Luke — in the last two panels, looks nervous at the prospect that Jean, who looks and acts like a tempermental good-old-girl is her only hope for getting her manhood — and the General Lee — back.
No hug Jeanie? mmm i guess there is still some boy in there. But she is more and more girl all the time.
I think Jean is starting to understand she needs Neil to protect her.
Their dynamic is a two way on street. He protects her and she serves him.
They both are a pair of boneheads. They both need to wise up, they need to except their roles and things will be much smoother for them.
I hope CD gets Neil a love interest in a future story Arc so Neil and Jeanies dynamic can be explored some more. I liked the Neil, Bell and Jeanie arc, lots to explore there but it was cut short.
I don’t think that if both Neil and Jean were to just do what everyone stereotypically expects them to behave like due to their roles, it would mean less problems for themselves. I find them more interesting for them being what they are naturally, even if I don’t agree with all of their choices.
People need to be true to themselves despite social opinions and rules contradicting. Rules are not absolute and set in stone by nature; they are an invention of exercising control over people’s behaviours, thus they can be changed with good reason as people can when necessary. Jean is understanding that with the recent changes in his life that he might need to change some of his ways but that doesn’t mean needing to give up his individuality. No amount of rules can do that.
Well said! It is their individuality’s and personalities (and let’s not forget Jean’s temper) that adds such appeal and flavor to this comic in the first place.
Actually, I see Jeanie acting like a girl, because, she is a girl and that something she going to have to get use to. But, I see Jeanie acting like a female copy of Jean, because, she is a female copy of Jean. In other word, Jeanie is still going to pull some of the same crap the Jean would pull, because, there still the same person inside, but, in a different situation. But, being in a new situation, should modify her behavior a little bit and that is what make for the interesting story of happens in the future.
Girl act differently than Guys do and Jeanie should too in the future, because she a girl now.
I wonder if Neil could trick Jean to submit to a DNA test. Have her swab the inside of her cheek with a cotton swab from a DNA test kit, he can just say’s its for an experiment. With his science connections he could get a detailed DNA test done discretely.
Get a print out of the sex chromosomes, XY for males, XX for females. I suspect it will show that Jean has two XX chromosomes. Neil could show it to Jean to prove and convince HER that she is TOTALLY FEMALE and just accept it.
I’m not suggesting going so far as a full medical checkup, MRI scan and a visit to a gynecologist. Well… a gynecological exam might be going too far, angry genie situation. Plus green corpuscles might show up and questions come up.
Jean’s well aware she’s biologically female– pretty sure she’s felt around in her pants by now– but gender is a separate thing… so that really wouldn’t prove anything.
Also, your perceptions of DNA tests are cute. It doesn’t take any “connections.” I’ve done DNA tests in a class at community college. Literally anybody could have such a test done for under $100.
I just got a vision! Eventually, Boss Hogg will Catch Bo, Luke and Neil trying to get Jeanie back and order her to do something “bad” to them–She will have no choice–except to somehow trick him or “twist” his wish
Well, she’s already done so once. Hogg wished that the “Duke biys” and their car couldn’t get in the way. And Jeanie did just that, on her own terms. No more general, no more duke boys, but now he’s got a pair of duke girls to contend with.
Not the best way to reunite with your buddy/ex-master but you can’t blame Jean for being upset with Neil in this case.
I wouldn’t want to work for Boss Hogg either.
Well, Jeanie still has her attitude! Now for the introduction to the boys or should I say the girls?
All four of them?
No upper arm strength anymore, huh?
If she really wanted to hurt him…
Time to turn him into Natalie Jean. He’s out with two girls after he lost your bottle. You know what you have to do:-)
Hah, that would be such a great turn of events. Jeanie getting jealous over Neil would be hilarious.
Nope Boss is going to tell her to get rid of Neil then poof the Lovely Nat will appear.

Stop being a nice guy nerd.

Long Blonde Hair, two ample breasts, Mood swings… (plus she was trying to ‘sleep with’ Neil in the last storyline).
I’m pretty sure we don’t need a DNA test to prove Jean’s a female.

3 Duke Girls, don’t forget Daisy.
I’m still waiting for them to find the “modified” general – a little pink VW.
Daisy drove a Jeep CJ. I’m sure her feminized cousins would tend toward something similar, not foofy “girl car.”
That’s the point though they don’t get a choice
