Ah there is a spring under the palace that’s interesting. And important for Mother-in-law time as well.
Still waiting for Jean to finally regrow her spine and do something about all this and all these freaking losers. Every storyline that is focused on the rest of the Genies I just hate because not a single one of them are likeable. Not even the waifu-bait character with the silver hair.
Jean needs to burn that entire society to the ground so they can put a sensible elder genie in charge. Like Kazom.
I know, right? How hard is it to say “I never wanted to be a genie in the first place, and also I used to be a man”? I’m pretty sure most of genie society thinks Jean wants this. You’d think with how vocal Jean is about her displeasure behind closed doors that she’d be louder about it in public. All those threats from the genie higher ups about giving her an “attitude adjustment” or whatever it was don’t really have much of a point if they come after Jean’s already made her case in front of the genie public.
Except, bottle genies are going to be random people who picked up an empty totem. So they will mostly be people who “never wanted to be a genie” and about 50% of them will have “used to be a man.”
Genie society Does. Not. Care.
Plus, it was already confirmed that at least one of the high muckity-mucks knows that Jean used to be a guy and that’s the entire reason they’re marrying them off to Guano in the first place.
That said, it’s not like Jean’s entirely undeserving of this sort of treatment; it’s the same kind of shit they put Neil through on the regular, just on a societal level.
And am I the only one nagged by Jean’s Fantasy Island with Natalie? Jean can’t make Nat love him, but he can make any genie within reach ACT like they love having sex with him.
Jeanie gets zero sympathy from me–and Natalie gets only a touch, because Neil simply cannot say NO!
You can’t hold Jeannie responsible for the actions of her counterpart in an alternate timeline.
Responsible? No. But as indicator of the underlying personality? Yeah, Jean and Jeanie are both self-centered borderline sociopaths. [” an outdated, informal term for someone who has antisocial personality disorder (ASPD)”].
It has been stated by lehab that a mortal becoming a genie is a rare event, and a gender change even rarer then that.

Presumably, a mortal only becomes a genie when they come across a vacant genie totem, and totems only become vacant when a genie dies or is rendered mortal. Considering that genies can potentially live four thousand years or more, and that geniekind are likely not putting the vacant totems out to deliberately “recruit” mortals as new genies (their prejudice against recruited genies implies that they do not care for such “immigrants”), this keeps the number relatively low. Jean and Alya being the newest at the time, despite it being several months after Jeanie became a genie, implies that there is typically not more than perhaps a dozen such recruited mortals per year, if not less—though Kazom’s mention that Disney’s Aladdin movie resulted in “a bunch” of new guys resembling the genie from that film does suggest several dozen new recruits since the film was released.
Once Disney’s genie (1992) became popular, that image could last forever. Just like we mostly all equate female genies with Barbara Eden (1965). Assuming less than a dozen per year since 1992 (call it 10 per) that could be about 34 cyanotic genies. Of course, at that same ratio there would be about 60 hot genie babes that resemble Barbara.
One would hope Jean can regrow a spine after that neck-snap.
~snicker~
Jeanie’s on her last nerves.
It seems like mom-in-law would be a great resource to have on your side. She’s pretty formidable, and Jeannie could do a lot worse than to suck up to her a little. She clearly dotes on having a daughter-in-law, and would happily assume the role of ‘mother bear’. That could be darned useful. Particularly since Jean doesn’t have many friends, let alone powerful ones.
Good point. I wonder if Jean will be smart enough to figure that out? lol
I, for one, doubt it.
And now crazy mother…
I miss Natalie so much…
Right now, Natalie is probably less thrilled with Jean than most of Geniekind is.
They don’t know her like we know her.
I do hope Jean can eventually stand up for herself against the other genies. But she’s not exactly bright, and the story seems to be inventing new ways to shut her up every time she tries lol
Turns out, her mother-in-law isn’t just a genie, she’s also a chiropractor!
LOL
Can anyone survive encounters with their in-laws?
Well, if the crowd of genies wasn’t bad enough, Jeanie now has to deal with her “Mother-in-Law”
She’s doomed. XD
Oh don’t worry Jeanie. Mumzie will make everything feel better. Or at least funnier. And do not grow to much spine. It could grow into a tail.
You say it as if having a tail would be a bad thing …
…and Jeanie woke up and realized it had all been a dream/nightmare.
Just to make sure more hijinks ensue: “At least it can’t get any worse.”
Too much pressure again? Man, that’s a tight dress.
