Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
A junior engineer working for a small engineering firm in Cocoa Beach. The firm focuses mostly on NASA projects.
Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
He’s already been a woman permanently in two different timelines (and in one of those two she even had a daughter despite it being a non-canon storyline). So its a safe bet that Jeanie isn’t joking, though I think the story would be better with Natalie for 98-99 percent of the time.
Much as I prefer Natalie’s character to Neil’s passive victimhood, let’s face it; at this point, Neil is officially Jeanie’s hostage. Run away, Neil. Or Natalie.
Genuine question since ive lost track, is this the “same” Neil that with the memory of living as a girl for years while waiting for Jeanie to come back to those alternate timeline futures after prom? Or was that version (or versions) erased when Jeanie corrected the timeline?
I’ve been taken with the notion that these happentracks all exist simultaneously together, and whatever action someone has taken to move from one to the other is irrelevant.
It’s not necessarily being female that has Nat worried–it’s spending time with Rog while confined on a boat.
But of course Natalie’s Neilishness can’t figure out that she needs to put it that way.
Actually, Neil/Natalie doesn’t HAVE to go on the boat with Rog. Heck, she can spend the weekend doing anything she wants; Roger has no power over her. If she bugs out and spends the weekend at the spa or whatever, Rog has no real recourse. (Thank goodness for that.)
While Jean can’t interfere with Neil’s free will about not wanting to go on the boat with Rog, the poof was for “Nat” to be there. So no matter what she does she could just get poofed onto the boat (in a bikini [and possibly a smaller bikini each time she tries to leave]).
I got it figured out. Jeanie is mad at Neil because he cheated on her with her in the space shuttle. Does that make any sence? But Natalie in a bikini-I am not complaining.
When did this become an abuser comic? There really needs to be a character here who can slap Jeanie down when she gets like this because there nothing fun about watching an abuser abuse their victim. NOTHING FUN AT ALL.
It’s not the creating them that takes so mich power—Rouyaa said that maintaining them beyond a few weeks would be a constant energy drain. I think that CD came out saying that this would take a noticeable bite out of Jeanie’s strength, while still leaving her stronger than just about any genie who hadn’t absorbed somebody else’s magic.
He’s not, though. Not since Jeanie granted his last wish. She *chose* to remain with him rather than returning to the lamp.
We’ve seen multiple times that Jeanie can refuse Neil’s direct orders, so there doesn’t appear to be any sort of magically enforced master/genie relationship.
So reading through the comments, it seems as though Neil is no longer Jeanie’s master; that she can do pretty much whatever she wants because she has a surplus of power; and of course Rog is a horndog and Neil does not want to be stuck on a boat with him as a pretty girl.
Remind me why Neil stays with Jean? It seems almost inevitable that he will eventually be Natalie (or some other girl) full time if he does. I realize that with her powers he can’t just take off, that he would have to find a diplomatic way to let her know he’s leaving.
Maybe that’s not possible, and Jeanie will not let him go. If so that means Neil is almost as trapped as he was in the other timeline where he was Jean’s genie.
I know I’m overthinking this, I just want to have fun watching Jeanie’s antics. It’s hard to ignore just how unbalanced this relationship is though. In theory they are friends but I don’t see any sign of Jean actually liking Neil which is a big part of the problem.
Yes, it’s a very unbalanced relationship. Jeanie does things without any thought for the consequences and leaves a trail of transformed victim of her impulsive behavior behind (I believe we’re up to 5 in canon). On the flip side, when she does consider Neil once in a while, hence the lottery ticket and the new home.
You’re right, unless she does decide to leave, Neil is more or less a prisoner because Jeanie seems to need him around. She doesn’t have any other friends.
I believe that Jeanie not having any other friends goes all the way back to High School otherwise it doesn’t explain why Jean moved all the way to Cocoa Beach after Neil got the job at Jupiter Two Engineering, there was nothing and no one there for him anymore.
Neil is still Jeanie’s master. However, since he was granted his three wishes, it’s no longer as formal.
Once Jeanie granted the third wish (ham sandwich) Guano was going to put Jeanie into her bottle to wait for a new master (instead of for 100 years as punishment), but Jeanie said she didn’t want a *new* master (emph mine), and in #78, Guano agreed that she could serve Neil for the rest of his life. Bottle Genies must serve masters (except for all the exceptions that prove the rule… but they’re older and more powerful). 🙂
Why would it serve Neil right to be Natalie for an indefinite period? Neil did not give Jean that bottle and force him to open it.
Neil has only been a friend to Jean/Jeanie this entire time and has demanded nothing significant in return (I doubt a ham sandwich counts). In fact, I kind of agree with Chelsea and Dagor (above), Neil is very much a victim of Jean’s narcissistic personality. In fact, Jean/Jeanie is a lonely coward. He couldn’t endure remaining in Cincinnati without his best friend and she couldn’t leave him when she was offered a new life after being reborn as a genie. Even Jeanie’s generosity is self-centered. The lottery ticket and new house were a result of her disastrous decisions to grant three wishes to the three roommates, and the need to escape responsibility.
It’s my belief that Jeanie is expressing anger to hide the upset she’s feeling over the fact she really, really enjoyed having Neils manhood repeatedly shoved into her nethers. I also think she’s upset because it reminded her she secretly enjoyed it when she had to sleep with her younger male self.
she is just mad. She had sex with Neil in the space schutle and Neil doesn’t remember it. She feels scorned. What is the old, old saying–Hell has no fury like a woman scorned. I have to ask. did the security guard find the missing pink bra in the Atlantis when it returned?
So Neil/Natalie learned not to complain to someone who can’t turn back into a guy while you still can.
He’s already been a woman permanently in two different timelines (and in one of those two she even had a daughter despite it being a non-canon storyline). So its a safe bet that Jeanie isn’t joking, though I think the story would be better with Natalie for 98-99 percent of the time.
I don’t recall the daughter, what timeline was that in?
It happened here- https://jeaniebottle.com/?comic=fan-takeover-i-dream-of-natalie-finale

That version, along with the genie version of Natalie, was erased when Jeanie corrected the timeline.
I’ve been taken with the notion that these happentracks all exist simultaneously together, and whatever action someone has taken to move from one to the other is irrelevant.
Robert says that they were erased but my theory is that they are alternate realities sprung from the events of prom night.
It’s not necessarily being female that has Nat worried–it’s spending time with Rog while confined on a boat.
But of course Natalie’s Neilishness can’t figure out that she needs to put it that way.
Because of the implication
I love that scene, it singlehandedly confirmed the “Dennis is a psychopath” theory.

I know the strip is meant to be comedic, but this scene looks disturbingly like an example of domestic abuse.
Has it only been a year? Seems much longer…
We’ve been seeing it at the rate of 3-to-5 comic strips covering each elapsed day of comic-time. So yeah, it unrolls slowly.
I got it figured out. Jeanie is mad at Neil because he cheated on her with her in the space shuttle. Does that make any sence? But Natalie in a bikini-I am not complaining.
So MANY things that Jeannie does don’t make sense…
When did this become an abuser comic? There really needs to be a character here who can slap Jeanie down when she gets like this because there nothing fun about watching an abuser abuse their victim. NOTHING FUN AT ALL.
Her “husband” Guano has the authority to do so, though he may not have the raw power to brute-force her to stop.
Me may have the authority but Jeanie had more raw power, at least until she splurged on creating bodies for Ray and Andy.
I don’t think creating bodies for Ray and Andy was THAT hard, IMHO she still has more raw power.
However, Guano has more training using the power. He may still have upper hand.
I agree!
Maybe Jeanie is pregnant and having mood swings. When my partner was Pregnant she acted similar to this because of her hormones being out of whack.
Well, maybe Hubun Jadid DOES have this effect on her despite Robert insisting it doesn’t count as pregnancy yet …
Do you think neil knows that he is actually Jean’s master and its not the reverse
Apparently, it only actually works that way single day in year and he’s bad at bluffing.
Somebody is not in a good mood.
Hm. Still a better friendship then any I’ve had.
Ouch!
Sorry to hear that.
Bold Nat. Bold of you to try an reason with Jean
Natalie should’ve sat on Jeanie (while she’s on the couch) and smothered her with her boobs.
Jean really doesn’t need air, but the boobs might work.
PMS???
Pre-Magic Syndrome?

>> “She doesn’t have any other friends.”
With the way Jean behaves, who would want to be her friend? Although right now, she’s bitchier than usual.
I agree that it’s a wonder Neil sticks around. Maybe he’s secretly a masochist.
I believe that Jeanie not having any other friends goes all the way back to High School otherwise it doesn’t explain why Jean moved all the way to Cocoa Beach after Neil got the job at Jupiter Two Engineering, there was nothing and no one there for him anymore.

Getting bended against your will is so not cool and very abusive. Jeanie’s a jerk and a asshat..
only a little over a year for Jean thought it was longer. might serve him right if he was as Natillie for an indefinate period

Jennie seems a little grouchy this month?

Agent Anderson will have to be on the yacht. We have seen her in a one piece but has she ever been given time in a bikini?
I don’t think she’s been seen in a bikini in canon. But there’s definitely some fanart of her in one on the Discord, hehe.
the banner in one word–WOW
Damn! I’d forgotten that she can be vindictive.
