Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
A junior engineer working for a small engineering firm in Cocoa Beach. The firm focuses mostly on NASA projects.
Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
It was because of silver vampire couldn’t be photographed. Modern tech works differently. It could be her magic energy overpowers the photoreceptor and appears as light.
I don’t see why Jeanie couldn’t use her magic to make a image on the device. Just like she could create some pictures using her magic, it just may be that she leaks so much energy that she leaves that bright spot on a camera.
OK, but now I’m really confused as to the time of the story, or how old Jean and Niel are? Prom with smartphones, but working at NASA a decade before SpaceX
Since when is it “a decade before SpaceX”? Not sure where you got that idea.
As for the time, this is taking place about 7-10 years ago, since Jean and Neil are in their mid 20s in the present. Jeanie Bottle runs on a sliding timescale, and the “present” in the comic is basically equivalent to the present IRL. So even though the comic started in 2009, and only a few months have past in-comic, the story is taking place in the early 2020s. Thus the references to COVID in the early part of this chapter.
My bad. I put the wrong character tag for Jean when uploading the comic.
Actually, I blame Robert! He was too busy watching sports during his evenings home, instead of posting the comics I sent him. If Neko wasn’t on leave, I’d have her doc his weekly peanut rations.
Sports are sacred! Instead of blaming me, you should change the JB schedule so it doesn’t go up on days when the Dodgers are playing games that I decide to watch with my dad. 🙂
Jean only remembers that it was a blond exchange student that went to the school prom with him and he doesn’t even remember her name even. That is also why Jeanie didn’t figure out that she was the blond exchange student that took her teen self out to the school prom either. That miss understanding went all the way up the line. Even Jean memory may have also been erased too.
The other thing that picture shows is how very much Neil and his date look alike; brother and sister or first cousins alike. And such a relationship would be obvious, I think, to anyone who looked; something else for Madeline to wonder about.
What? The beginning of this story referenced the COVID-19 pandemic, which puts that part of the story no earlier than 2020. Jeanie also said that in their current Prom Night time frame that they would not find the genie bottle for another five years, so that would put them 6-7 years in the past, i.e. no earlier than 2013, The iPhone 5 was released in September 2012, and the 5c in September 2013.
Jeanie’s gown is hot and beautiful but it also looks like an accident waiting to happen-I can only hope. Natalie’s green gown looks like it is mottled camo pattern in panel one. Nice redneck choice. Where is Bucktooth Willie when you need to spice up the punch?
This is off topic and I do appolise for it. I noticed in deviant art that Ranger Honey was shooting her energy weapon (pistol) with her left eye closed. I was always taught to keep both eyes open. There is an exception when you are right handed but left eyed. That tends to pull you weapon to the left off target. Is Honey right handed but left eyed? Doesn’t matter, we will still love our Pixie Ranger. Or is that really Ethen?
Honey (the actress) has myopia. People who have one eye that has poorer focus than the other will often close their “bad” eye in order to concentrate on the view from the “good” eye.
Near the end of the TV show during the Wedding, Jeannie was successfully photographed. But in the beginning she couldn’t be photographed. I’m not sure if that would be relevant in this comic.
Old genie rule from the show genies can’t be seen on camera or film for many obvious reasons.
like i said in the last page: Genies cannot be photographed. I’ve watched I Dream of Jeannie folks.
Does that also mean they don’t show up on security cameras?
that, I don’t know.
It was because of silver vampire couldn’t be photographed. Modern tech works differently. It could be her magic energy overpowers the photoreceptor and appears as light.

cause Jeanie probably doesnt know she has to
Love Natalie trying to look sexy in her gown. 🙂
Anyone else notice in this sequence that Madaline in flats is as tall as the boys and taller than the girls in their heels?
> Love Natalie trying to look sexy in her gown.
“Trying”? More like easily succeeding, but entirely by accident. 🙂
There’s that smile… makes all the difference.
I knew that jeenies can’t be photographed
Jeanies I mean
It would have been more interesting if just her dress showed up on camera, but not Jeanie herself.
That was how it worked in the TV series—the picture shows clothes being worn by an invisible person.
Huh. That’s a nice call-back to an IDOJ episode.
Also just realized you’re working with Lady Valiant. Cool
“Working with” is a stretch. It’s just an affiliation, which we try to maintain with other, similar comics.
OK, but now I’m really confused as to the time of the story, or how old Jean and Niel are? Prom with smartphones, but working at NASA a decade before SpaceX

Okay, sorry I did not realize SpaceX was founded so long before their first launch and then how long it’s been since the launch. I feel old `:(
What’s with the “only appearance” for Jean? Aren’t we forgetting Panel 1 of Jeanie Bottle 1 from February 18, 2009? Panels 2 and 3 from Jeanie Bottle 75?
Jeanie Bottle 161, Panel 3?
And in I Dream of a Big Ball of Wibbly Wobbly, Timey Wimey… Stuff:
Jeanie Bottle 627
Jeanie Bottle 628
Jeanie Bottle 630
Jeanie Bottle 631
Jeanie Bottle 632
Jeanie Bottle 635
Jeanie Bottle 636
Jeanie Bottle 637
Jeanie Bottle 648
Jeanie Bottle 649
Jeanie Bottle 650
Jeanie Bottle 651
Jeanie Bottle 655
Jeanie Bottle 656
Jeanie Bottle 657
Jeanie Bottle 658
This isn’t the first time that particular glitch has happened.

Well she were wearing a dress made of diamonds.
It really does look like that, doesn’t it? Jeanie is gorgeous in that.
I’m still not a fan of the color. Black with white sparkles would have been more… well, just more.
I just realized this is why Jean doesn’t remember who he took to the prom.
Because there’s no picture? Good point.
Jean only remembers that it was a blond exchange student that went to the school prom with him and he doesn’t even remember her name even. That is also why Jeanie didn’t figure out that she was the blond exchange student that took her teen self out to the school prom either. That miss understanding went all the way up the line. @Larry: Suppressed, maybe. Erased, no. Sometimes people remember what they believe or want to have happened rather than what actually did happen.
Somehow I thought Neil would be affected. Though she’s no genie.
Is this some kind of time travel paradox?
Stick around and find out if there is a time travel paradox here. If there is, then Jeanie will have to fix it.
Oh God! I hate saying that: Jeanie fixing some!
The other thing that picture shows is how very much Neil and his date look alike; brother and sister or first cousins alike. And such a relationship would be obvious, I think, to anyone who looked; something else for Madeline to wonder about.
Isn’t this phone, like, an anachronism?

Just what we need—Jeanie getting drunk on that and her magic going haywire again.
genies don’t appear on film almost forgot that from i dream of jeanie.
also like your prom dress Jeanue banner above
Can Jeanie, unlike vampires, see herself in a mirror?
Interesting question. I don’t think that was ever mentioned.
The reason I asked was that mirrors used to be backed with silver.
I thought that it was a ‘Back to the Future’ thing.
Taking pictures with a phone?
Just what year is this?
I mean, at the very least, just how long did it take Neil to get a notable position at NASA?

I forgot about those glasses’
Yeppp… that’s the reason… It’s no like I just drew her with an eye closed cause it made her look more dramatic… {looks around, and then runs away}

Just give the girl child a laser gunsight. Unless she is color blind she can follow the red dot and play with the kitten at the same time.
