Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
In her role as Haji's First, Lahab leads Haji's Harem. She is a Jann genie, one of the few elementals left in the world. She and Kazom are "old friends".
Well Guanos mom reason is fair enough cause she may go evil crazy if she didn’t meet Jean now how do you stop her about the baby you tell me? Hey what are Guano parents name already?
Judging by everyone’s expression in frame 2, Lahab’s request to “walk with me” seems to be an unexpected mark of favor.
Jeanie, be polite and respectful. I won’t say you have an ally here, but you are at least being given a neutral hearing by someone very wise in the ways of geniehood. Lahab is not one to act impulsively.
And, “I like her,” strikes me as something said by someone of painfully low status who wants to make it clear that she’s not going to make any waves; she can’t afford to.
Looks like Lahab has decided that this is an ideal time to deliver an uncomfortable personal growth lesson to Jean. Funny how a small act of kindness like removing Jean’s shackles can break through someone’s defenses after weeks of fear and uncertainty. Compare Jean’s bewildered-but-thankful expression and body language in panel 1 with her lost and frightened expression as she whined “Oh what did I do now?” in comic 591. Jean’s defenses are down and she might actually listen for once. I do get the impression that Jean either respects Lahab or respects Lahab’s “none of your crap, young genie” attitude.
I am of the opinion that Lahab was waiting for this moment. She let everybody spend there dimes and throw there pennies while she was waiting for just the right moment to intervene and extract Jeanie from a bad situation to bewildered and confusing situation that Jeanie is glade to leave. I think that Labab is being very slick here and is executing plan to get Jeanie to either hear her or yield on some level.
@Larry: i don’t know that Lahab has been waiting for this moment, but she has certainly handled Jeanie in a way far more likely to gain Jeanie’s cooperation than anybody else has tried–including Neil.
Everyone seems to be assuming that genie procreation involves pregnancy. I don’t see any reason why it should. Genies are beings of magic, not biology.
If Jeanie is pregnant, I vote for having Jeanie waddle around with a baby bump for a little while. When she does that Genie smoke out of bottle number that Genie do, she has an eight month old baby bump on her and she says, Yes, Master, you get three wishes!
Besides the prospect of her being strong, which she very well may be, she could be very tricky too. Being a very experienced Genie means if there are loop hold or ways to skirt rule or get around those nasty rule that get in her way, she would probably know how to do it.
What I hope comes out of of this little walking meeting:
Jeanie:
1. Summarizes her story–including that she was originally male.
2. Confesses her bewilderment at being a genie.
3. Explains that her Master, Neil, has made almost no demands on her-his most selfish wish was for a ham sandwich.
4. Expresses her adamant disgust at any joining with Guano, including his high-handed treatment of her on first meeting.
Labar:
1. Listens sympathetically.
2. Explains Jeanie’s options, if any beyond “Obey or be imprisoned in your bottle forever.” Includes how her behavior affects likelihood of being granted her preferred option, and what her duties under each option will be.
3. Main options: Be Neil’s Genie, be Guano’s consort, or return to bottle and await discovery by next Master.
3. Offers to bitch slap Neil to make him understand that being a Master comes with responsibilities, and he’s dropping the ball.
Honestly, I hadn’t considered that possibility; i thought being Guano’s wife would mean remaining in the genie realm. i guess that’s one of the things we should find out for sure.
@mike: “Perhaps Lahab will also show Jeanie how to walk around with her palms together,”
But….the raw elemental power that would confer…No, Jeanie is not yet ready. First she must at least demonstrate the ability to deliver a tasty ham sandwich to her Master without dumping it on his head. An impossibly high standard, I know, but the safety of the universe is at stake.
Since the sandwich came from above, I think that qualifies as “high.” But you’re right, Jeanie has a lot of catching up to do. Which begs the question, are ALL newborn, human-to-genie conversions this naïve? I would expect that with their long lifespan a true-born genie would have decades of training behind them (unless they pop out of the Hubun Jadid fully formed and all powerful). (Please note I used naïve instead of a stronger term on purpose.)
“married now”
That’s one of things that Lahab needs to straighten out with Jeanie.By current Western standards, “marriage” involves at least the pretense of consent. Jeanie is not likely to consider herself bound by anything like that, since she hasn’t given her consent, much less her vow. As things now stand, she’s simply a slave–acceptable under the traditions of the middle-Eastern culture from which the genie legends sprang.
Didn’t Jeanie accept Neil as her Master, past the original three wishes introduction, in order to avoid getting another, unknown Master?
If so, maybe she can avoid “marriage” to Guano by marrying Neil. She has at least demonstrated some fondness for Neil a couple of times, and was his friend even as Jean.
But as has been suggested a few times in this storyline, we don’t yet know exactly what’s involved in genie reproduction, much less “marriage”.
Well Guanos mom reason is fair enough cause she may go evil crazy if she didn’t meet Jean now how do you stop her about the baby you tell me? Hey what are Guano parents name already?
Hmmm, shoot. I think CD told me, but I can’t remember.
Atawin and Mom.
I suspect that Guano was born of Cloaca.
I’m not sure we can trust Lahab. Wonder how she’s related to bahaL ?

Genies who don’t make waves don’t tend to be imprisoned in their bottles.

I don’t think telling Guano how she escaped her bottle is in her best interest. But, I would say that is a very powerful ability for a genie to have.
“After a lot of dithering and concern, I decided to swallow my pride and walk around the ‘No Exit’ sign.”
“… but… but that’s against the rules!”
Her explanation is airtight, though. “Had to meet my daughter in law”. Wow, there’s no prison in the multiverse that could stand against that.
I can picture Guano’s mother replying, “Silly boy, if I told you, I’d have to find a different way to escape from my bottle next time.”
I can understand why Guano’s mom likes Jeanie. They are both chaotic, though not both evil.
There is no indication that Guano’s mother is evil… she just seems to have a low tolerance for disrespect. My grandmother had a wooden spoon…
Hmm? The color returned to Lord Guano’s clothes, but not to his mother’s?
Her husband, Atawin, is still present, so it remains white.
Correct. The color change is triggered by proximity to one’s spouse.
your right missed that or CD just screwing with us LOL
After seeing the picture of Tiffani by Hollum Dusk in about her eighth month I couldn’t help but wonder what our Jeanie will look like in month eight.
Link?
Hollum_Dusk deviant Art. Has some awesome Melvin artwork.

I notice that Hollum has a thing for girls standing on tiptoe while kissing and stuff. So do I.

Putting Jeanie through labor would be a lot funnier than just poofing out a baby.

hope to have more with this mother in law
Well, so do I, but that doesn’t mean she should marry Lord Guano and bear his children.
Ah, so she was just being sealed to be polite.
Kinda how like Jeanie is just being cuffed to be polite.
Wonder how strong his mom is then?

Note these are my wishes, not predictions.
Anyone have other suggestions?
I don’t think being Guano’s wife has any effect on being a master’s Genie. Now, bitch slapping Neil would be a welcome sight.
Honestly, I hadn’t considered that possibility; i thought being Guano’s wife would mean remaining in the genie realm. i guess that’s one of the things we should find out for sure.
Perhaps Lahab will also show Jeanie how to walk around with her palms together, fingers down as befitting the Haji’s First Wife.

And now that she is pregnant there is no reason she can’t go all the way with Neil. Wait, she is married now.

Hey, is the green of his vest meaningful?
