The Blue Djinn is an evil genie who was apparently defeated by Lord Guano in the past. But now he's back, and he's angling to take down the Genie Lords... but how does Jeanie factor into his plans?
Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
I caused a bit of a stir at an Irish restaurant when I asked my dining companions for a “napkin.” I ended up learning that most of the British empire (retired) use nappy for diaper, and diaper seems to be an artistic term. There was another term I heard about, but don’t recall, in an attempt to stave off further embarrassment.
Well Fritch Ra. That reminds me of an old joke. This was an American (who happened to be homosexual). He had been sent to work in England for a few months. His coworkers seemed nice enough even if he didn’t always get them, but one day he overheard something truly disturbing. Two of his more crude coworkers were talking about going out back to smoke some fags
Well if Belle sees the baby don’t say these 2 line. This is Jeans daughter he had in in secret or This is my (Jean) and Nates secret child we had. Cause that will start even more problems whos gonna raise this baby? Hey will Jean get motherly insticts from this cause she a duplicate of himself making that sorta his daughter.
I dunno… big boom, human/genie bodyswap, and now Jeanie’s displaying honest to god character development by showing compassion to Blue? That’s a big deal, imo.
I guess. I think I was expecting more of an epic battle, rather than “Anne Nonymous Mary-Sues her way through the Villain, Part 2”. The character development was good, but this just seemed too easy for Blue’s reputation.
Not Mary-Sueish, in this case it would be deus ex machina because of the random object she was giving pretty much out of nowhere. Deus ex machina: an unexpected power or event saving a seemingly hopeless situation, especially as a contrived plot device in a play or novel.
Added this bit at the end since I didnt anwser the question below and then it said I had already posted this before?
Maybe Blue had pooped out all of the excess crap out of “her” system. That or shrinking Blue down had pushed a lot of bodily fluids all around quickly.
I did figured that Blue was going to have a bigger comeuppance for himself that this. A bit anti-climatic but poetically deserving for his karma. I wonder what this will do about all of Blue’s victims now?
Jeanie said that she was sending The Blue Djinn back to the beginning. I assume that the beginning means the beginning of everything that made the Blue Djinn the Blue Djinn. The Blue Djinn now a human girl was basically erased and started over again. That would include, Memories of the Blue Djinn, the Genie nature of the Blue or every being a guy even and that pesky slave mark too. Effectively, the Blue Djinn doesn’t exist anymore and now for all intense and purposes all we have left is a human baby girl that needs to grow up now.
That the way that I am reading Jeanie comment of the Blue Djinn starting over again.
Sorry, but this is one misuse of English which, for some strange reason, really yanks my chains.
for all intense and purposes
If you are not a native English speaker I can see where the mistake came from. If, however, you are a native speaker then you know that “intense” is the wrong word here, even if it does sound similar to the correct one Intents.
Now i’m going to go away and let you consider the vagaries of English spelling and pronounciation.
Hey Frith Ra!! I never claimed to be a good speller or nor do I always use the right tense of the word or even the right word even. Example: pray or prey.
And this is coming from a guy that complaining about asking for a napkin to pat his mouth while eating dinner in Ireland and being embarrassed about it. The Irish can call a napkin anything they want to call it, but, over here, we are still calling them napkins.
Still wondering what Lord Guano will do when he finds out that he is now married to either Jeanie or Baby Jeanie the human. And, then the screams will sound as Jeanie realizes that she may be married to the idiot. Then we have the worry of which one the crimes will be pinned on.
Those beads are missing on Jeanie body, so that must means that the Hubun Jadid must also have been nullified too after Jeanie retook her own body. Somebody has already commented that those beads represented the effects of the Hubun Jadid and the union of two Genie so that they can have children.
I don’t see Jeanie and Neil raising the girl, so that begs the question:
“Who going to raise the baby girl?”
How about Rouyaa?
Jeanie and Neil can pop back in time – say sometime in the 60’s, to drop baby Jeanie off with a younger Rouyaa
🙂
Go back to comic 562, panel 1 and you can see the red choker had already vanished before Jeanie hit Big Blue with the Quat Euzma, therefore, I would not put too much stock into it representing anything.
Also Big Blue’s top was white in comic 553, but the next time we see her in 561 it has turned back to blue. She still has the red choker at that time in panel 4, but it is gone in the very next panel which would be panel 1 of 562.
Don’t blame Blue. Getting turned into a baby would scare the shit out of anyone. 😉
Yay for Jean for once again choosing the least (or at least less) violent alternative, though I’m sure some people will complain anyway. Then again Jeanie spent the last night being tormented by Blue’s victims, and I sincerely doubt she wants another ghost in her head – especially Blue. Hopefully she can restore them. She won’t escape some (well-deserved) blame for Blue’s crimes but that would go a long way to smoothing things over.
Of course, knowing Jeanie (and CD) it’s possible that she’ll only be able to restore them as fellow bottle genies. A big change of life for some of them but better than the change from “living” to “dead”.
I’m not ready to read to much into the missing pearls, on the assumption that they may just been there just to indicate it was the morning after Blue and Guano consummated their marriage with the confines of a limited wardrobe. CD will no doubt surprise us, which is why I keep reading.
I’ll let myself out.
Also, I think the missing pearls are one of two things.
1. CD just forgot to draw them.
Or
2. The bond is broken because Jean didn’t make it and Blue is a baby.
I’m thinking that what Jean smells is Blue’s evil leaving the body of an innocent babe.
Also has Jean’s core now changed? She didn’t default to her usual look, her hair and dress have changed and being happy as a female with a blue harem outfit.
i tried to re read the last two strip. Is Jean the one in gray without powers and turn into a baby or the one in blue who talk about never feeling glad to be in harem outfit?
after Rouyaa is freed from her wine bottle they can give her Baby Blue to raise. Rouyaa then becomes her father’s mother making her- her own grandma. Tip of the hat to “Mark Twain.”
A thought just occurred to me regarding Big Blue’s changing wardrobe. Over the last twenty comics or so her outfit changes quite a number of times starting from when she pushed Jeanie out of her body
So now I’m wondering if this could represent Big Blue’s chaotic nature and the fact it didn’t change until Jeanie was kicked out means Jeanie was some kind of stabilizing force on BB during that time.
Robert or CD, is there truth to my thought, or am I just totally off base?
OK, lets see – The blue Djinn is now a baby,
Jean has all her powers back plus the blue Djinn’s powers.
The baby is going to be raised by Major Nelson in the 60’s
Lord Guano is now bound to a baby blue and married to Jean
meantime there are 2 mice being chased by an alley cat!
same bat time same bat channel
and I have a headache.
The promotion, of course, is to take Haji’s place when (if) he (?) retires. At least that’s what Lahab told Kazom, and what Guano told Asha.
It may be important to keep in mind that Haji has never been seen, only referred to, and that at the palace, all of his orders were relayed by Lahab, even to the council of genie lords.
Tom: My guess is that Haji will resemble Hadji from Johnny Quest (1964-65). Spelling is different, but since the word actually means someone who has successfully completed the Hajj to Mecca, the variation can be overlooked.
My guess is that Jeanie is going to find herself promoted to “Haji’s First”: the position that Lahab holds with the current Haji. It seems likely that Guano will have been promoted to Haji since we last saw him, and Blue already stated that she’s inherently be his “First”, due to their bond through the Hubun Jadid.
Ah, human puberty. I can’t think of any better punishment for the Blue Djinn.
That didn’t work out in the movie Sky High. At least not the first time.
But in this case, Blue is just a normal human being now, so even if he remember everything, there’s not much he can do.
Plus, he will have to deal with the whole genie-turned-human at a much worse level, because he will be forced to live as one, from a baby to old age.
He? I’m pretty sure Blue is a female baby.
Well I guess the only bad thing Blue is gonna do is dirty diapers now how are you gonna get out of this one from Guano and the genie council.
Over here in Australia we call d diapers nappys just letting you know
Based on the small amount of British media I’ve watched, I think they call them that over there, too.
@Frith Ra: Perchance that word was “closet”?
Well Fritch Ra. That reminds me of an old joke. This was an American (who happened to be homosexual). He had been sent to work in England for a few months. His coworkers seemed nice enough even if he didn’t always get them, but one day he overheard something truly disturbing. Sorry mean Neil not Nate watching a lot of Legends of Tomorrow lately.
Looks like a Honey child. Part Deaux
Looks like a real Honey child. Part Deaux
did not see this coming. Awesome
Me neither! CD’s great at throwing us curveballs.
I don’t think Niel will ever wear that shirt again.
This feels . . . anticlimactic.
I dunno… big boom, human/genie bodyswap, and now Jeanie’s displaying honest to god character development by showing compassion to Blue? That’s a big deal, imo.

Don’t forget about the situation with Guano. All Jeanie did was get out of the frying pan and into the fire.
You know this is probably the first time we have seen Jeanie in her harem outfit without her trademark hat/fez on.
Its definitely a better look for her all in all.
She looks adorable in panel 1, doesn’t she?
Though I doubt she’ll keep the blue coloring. It does look better, but pink is her signature color.
Fun’s fun but there’s still a lot of work to undo.
You’re definitely right! It’ll be interesting to see how this all bears out.
I wonder if sending Blue back to infancy took away that pesky slave mark.
Also, I think CD missed an opportunity in the last panel. The POOF in the third panel should have been complemented by a POOP in the fourth.
Jeanie said that she was sending The Blue Djinn back to the beginning. I assume that the beginning means the beginning of everything that made the Blue Djinn the Blue Djinn. The Blue Djinn now a human girl was basically erased and started over again. So Big Blue literally shat him/herself at the site of his own power being used against him. Funny.
Side note – am I the only one to notice Jean’s outfit became… plainer, like it’s missing detail.
Looks like he either forgot to draw the pearls on her waist, or Jeanie subconsciously got rid of them.
Or maybe they were just an illusion…
Or they were blown away by the explosion.
The beads were there in panel 1 of 563 and gone in panel 1 of 564, so it wasn’t the explosion.
Still wondering what Lord Guano will do when he finds out that he is now married to either Jeanie or Baby Jeanie the human. And, then the screams will sound as Jeanie realizes that she may be married to the idiot. Then we have the worry of which one the crimes will be pinned on.
Or maybe even Lord Guano thinks baby jeanieis his child with jeanie

Yes I also noticed the red neck choker missing as well as the beads and it only appeared on blue’s neck after Lord Guano pledge the oath?

Boo, that opening joke was shit.
Get it?
I’ll let myself out.
Also, I think the missing pearls are one of two things.
1. CD just forgot to draw them.
Or
2. The bond is broken because Jean didn’t make it and Blue is a baby.
I’ll be honist. It’s option 1 (Red Choker as well).
I’ll my the corrections first chance I get.
I’m thinking that what Jean smells is Blue’s evil leaving the body of an innocent babe.
Also has Jean’s core now changed? She didn’t default to her usual look, her hair and dress have changed and being happy as a female with a blue harem outfit.
I like the blue outfit a lot but my hopes of it staying are low….sigh….maybe we can have a poll
i tried to re read the last two strip. Is Jean the one in gray without powers and turn into a baby or the one in blue who talk about never feeling glad to be in harem outfit?
The latter.
after Rouyaa is freed from her wine bottle they can give her Baby Blue to raise. Rouyaa then becomes her father’s mother making her- her own grandma. Tip of the hat to “Mark Twain.”
Jeanie looks super cute with her happy face and loose hair in the first vignette
She totally does!
I get the feeling there will be a big misunderstanding in the near future with Guano thinking this is really the Blue Djinn and the baby is Jeanie.
A thought just occurred to me regarding Big Blue’s changing wardrobe. Over the last twenty comics or so her outfit changes quite a number of times starting from when she pushed Jeanie out of her body

I would say a little of both.
It that a little bit of BB’s chaotic nature and a little stability from Jean, or I’m a little bit right and I’m a little bit off base?
Big Blue had a lot of crap in him.
OK, lets see – The blue Djinn is now a baby,
Jean has all her powers back plus the blue Djinn’s powers.

Wait, is this the “promotion” the chapter title was talking about?
The promotion, of course, is to take Haji’s place when (if) he (?) retires. At least that’s what Lahab told Kazom, and what Guano told Asha.
