A former Genie Lord, Kazom is a 3000+ year old Genie who exists in the form of a witch familiar while still serving as a genie to a teenage boy in California.
It doesn’t seem that way. The only time we’ve seen Andy “wish” for anything was this one time. I guess crossing Haji’s will even invalidates the 3-wish contract. Or maybe not…
@al_vin: Apparently not. After all, he was careful not to say “I wish”. She is, after all, allowed to do magic on her own, even without a wish in effect.
Indeed! It could explain a few things. But, since she was warned before about this, and since this isn’t her first offense, I am not sure how much pull she would have.
And since there IS an empty bottle in the near future, I am willing to bet she does not win her case!
Rouyaa does have some right to be upset. Unless Kazom’s going to show her or have proof that she DID broke the “no space-travel aid rule” somehow in the next comic page or three, this would be wrongful dismissal persecution on Kazom’s behalf.
Then again, social justice within genie culture is rather weak, if not a broken double-standard for what rights genies have while in servitude.
Remember, there are other kinds of wishes that cannot be granted, as well. She was well-intentioned, but should have thought ahead. She was warned, after all! And this wasn’t her first transgression…
Under that logic, Evee shouldn’t be blamed for Hitler’s actions. It sucks, yeah, but there’s precedent for Haji’s decrees overriding the Master/Genie relationship.
I brought this up before. She could have played Monkey’s Paw. She could have given NASA the money, but twisted the wish to make sure it didn’t benefit the space program.
She’s “going to take this right to Haji”, is she? It’ll be interesting to see how she manages that, given that she no longer has any powers. Maybe she can send Haji a telegram.
Now that she is no longer a Genie, if the bottle still around, I wonder what would happen if she rubs the bottle and if Jeanie the future owner of the bottle come out. It would be an interesting idea or not.
If she is now human and her bottle is the empty one Jean/Jeanie later grabs to turn into a genie, wouldn’t her grabbing the bottle turn her back into a genie?
Okay, so when exactly, if she did, granted Andy’s wish for more money in the budget? We didn’t actually get to see her do it. I mean, going to give Andy a birthday wish couldn’t have counted toward going against Haji’s word, could it?
What I mean is on what grounds and evidence does Kazom have to pass judgement on Rouyaa here? How does he know wherever or not that Rouyaa did use her magic for what she was told not to do? I don’t think even genie lords can charge their subordinates without just cause; I’m sure the Haji would like an explaination from Kazom about stripping the powers of one of his “wives”.
I get teh feeling that the geenie higher ups track wishes given that Guano knew Jeanie wasn’t granting Neil his. I figure they knew Ryouaa granted a wish she’d been specifically instructed not to grant and Kazom is just delivering the punishment.
Apparently Kazom’s extracurricular activities are somewhat public knowledge amongst genies. Which raises the question of what other dirt she might have on him.
Hm. I wonder if Kazom will ever wind up telling his side of the story to Melvin… ?
‘WITCH-LOVING ASS”?? There has GOT to be an interesting story behind THAT phrase!!
Well, apparently witches and genies usually mix as well as oil and water.
I’m a little surprised she didn’t call him something involving the illegitimate offspring of a camel.
More like metallic potassium and water.
It must be his relationship with Melvin’s Father. They are friends. So of course he will be given crap for that!
Did she cast all three of the required wishes yet?
It doesn’t seem that way. The only time we’ve seen Andy “wish” for anything was this one time. I guess crossing Haji’s will even invalidates the 3-wish contract. Or maybe not…
What about the time she stopped Sid’s unit going to war? Was that not a “wish” being granted?
@al_vin: Apparently not. After all, he was careful not to say “I wish”. She is, after all, allowed to do magic on her own, even without a wish in effect.
If Rouyaa does indeed still have any pull with Haji, then this might contribute to why Haji has Kazom replaced with Guano . . .
And possibly why he’s a cat

I don’t think being a cat is Haji’s fault (at least not directly) http://melvin.jeaniebottle.com/?comic=concentration-key-or-p-t-s-d
Well, now I know why rowdy genies are not tolerated. Suddenly Lord Guano makes a lot more sense.

Kazom probably has the authority as genie lord to be pass sentencing without a trial, like the Judge Magisters in Final Fantasy 12.
Odd. Andy *wished* for space-program related wish.
She shouldn’t even be able to disobey him. So how is she blamed?
The higher up placed granting that kinda wish on the ‘no’ list.

I think she just doesn’t have that kind of contrary nature. Very straightforward.

I am guessing she might have made the shuttle ‘Enterprise[ into the Star-ship “Enterprise’

I have a feeling that Kazom is here at Haji’s behest. He’s just the one bringing the bad news from the boss. So an appeal to Haji probably won’t fly.

What rights would the twenty-third concubine to Hajii’s harem have if she married someone else?
(By the way, it should be 23rd, “rd,” not 23th…)
I wonder – maybe genies consider marriages to mortals as mere dalliances.
I think we’re going to see The Wrath of Haji and it won’t be against Rouyaa…
HA! Serves her right…
Witch loving ass, NICE! I LOVE IT! XD

So when he took away everything that makes her a genie, did he take away her cute genie outfit, too?
I wonder if this is a blessing in disguise? She’s now human, so she’s free to settle down with Andy, raise a family, bake apple pie…
And, given that her physical form is now about 40 years younger than his, eventually become a young widow…
