Jeanie Bottle Christmas Special – Page 1
You didn’t think we’d skip the annual Jeanie Bottle Christmas Week of Updates just because CD is packed away in an undisclosed location, did you? 😉
In fact, this one starts a little early, because it’s is a self-contained Christmas Special that is 10 pages long! And just like previous years, new pages will come out EVERY DAY. So be sure to come back tomorrow, and each day until New Years Eve, for a new page. 🙂
All of us here at Rudd Productions wish everyone a Happy Holidays and a Merry Christmas. We hope you enjoy this little side story.
Last year you asked about doing a holiday comic filler is this the same story that you planned out?
Possibly…:/
I do wish there was a way for Jean to visit his family, especially since he is stuck like that seemingly forever. Like maybe someone can wish for them to just accept it.
Or maybe he can just tell them the truth. I mean, it worked with Red from Melvin Chronicles. Though his parents are jerks.
Alternatively, just turn Neil into a copy of Male Jean again.
Actually, Rodge made a better male-Jean than Neil did. Then Neil could come along too, which would both help ‘sell’ the act and also provide someone to keep an eye on Rodge-as-Jean.
That’s a far better idea. They probably know Neil after all.
I don’t think that would work. Jeanie showing up as Rodges girlfriend while Rodge is masquerading as Jean. The only problem that I see is that there are things that Jean knows and his behavior too that Rodge doesn’t know and that could be a problem. Also remember Rodge may look like Jean, but, he not act like Jean and somebody that really know Jean will probably know that Rodge isn’t Jean, like his mother or father. Mother seem to know there children, so that going to be a tough sell item.
@Larry:
Jeanie doesn’t have to be Rodge/Jean’s “girlfriend” – she could just be a friend invited along from Florida for Xmas. And if anyone suspects “Jean” of anything, having two other people there to vouch for him would probably cover anything. After all, he’s been gone long enough, everyone would just be glad to see him back, and wouldn’t be likely to sit down and grill him too much, especially with all the other stuff going on around the holidays, and the fact that he’s only back for a few days.
I also hope Agent Anderson can go home for the holidays. His wife already knows about the change in his case.
Maybe he could be introduced to his son as “Aunt Anne”. Depending on how old the kid is, it might fly.
Maybe Anne will get there by parcel post?
Really, Tom? FedEx is so much classier of a way to travel. 😉
I don’t care that Jean is often a jerk, but it is clear that Jean does care about her family and never being able to associate with them again unless she is able to tell them what happened to her and they believe it. That is sad.
I honestly hope this story ends with Jean being able to see his family again through the magic of Christmas or something.
Jacqui, don’t forget that apparently Santa is a genie, too, so it’s entirely possible that that sort of Christmas wish might just work.
One thing they can do is change reality so that her parents and other family members remember Jean as Jeanie a female and they can keep the Genie part secrete and not let them know about that part of Jeanie. But, that would cause other problems, because, now you have people having two sets of memories of what happened in the past.
@Larry:
That might qualify as interfering with free will. Apparently Haji can get away with that, but I doubt that Jeanie could, particularly with Guano eyeballing her.
Honestly, is not that complicated, the part of proving to be a genie is easy, but asuming she wants to keep that as a secret, and asuming Jean finally acepts to be a girl for the rest of her very long life, she only needs to “come out” to her family and pretend she find herself since the last time they saw each other. They have been working out with worst lies so far after all.
I wonder how this story will turn on??? I think that there will be something more interesting and spicy.
Has she never called her mom?
Probably, but I’ll bet she can change her voice far easier than all of her appearance.
And for that matter, you can buy (or just poof up) a voice-shifting machine easily enough.
Whoa. This art style looks familiar.
I know, right? Almost like this guy’s had pictures on here before.
Remember that Jean is the one with the money; he was able to lease Andy’s old apartment, much larger and more expensive than Neil’s. Neil isn’t planning on going home here; he’s going to the community center. Why is he going to the community center?
Well, one type things that happen at community centers are charity events, like reaching out to homeless people, old people, old homeless people, toys-for-tots, etc. Hey, those fit right into a heartwarming Christmas story with a Moral Lesson, don’t they?
Doesn’t make Jean not being able to see his family any less sad.
The only things keeping Jean from seeing her family are Jean and Mr. Rudd, who may not want to complicate things by bringing in characters new to the story. It could be that the climax of this story will be Jean finally facing her family, who wouldn’t be likely to blab about her secret.
Yes, Tom, but Jeanie got her apartment at a huge discount because Andy had died in it. (Many people are superstitious about such things.)
And there could be a lot of reasons Neil isn’t headed home – he might not be on good terms with his family, they might be impractically far away, the parents could be divorced and not talking, He might not be able to get away from work long enough, et cetera, etc.
But as Jacqui noted a few posts above, with Rodge’s help, some ingenuity and a little magic, Jean should be able to at least see her family without having to reveal any secrets.
IIRC, Neil and Jean’s families live in Cleveland.
@ijuikun:
We don’t actually know where Neil’s family lives. He seems to have known Jean from Cincinnati, but where he originally grew up is still unknown.
@Kattgirl – I believe Neil knew Jean from Middle/High School (Jean mentions getting Neil a date to the prom in I Dream of A Nerd), so I suspect that, even if Neil wasn’t born in Cincinnati, he was raised there for a decent chunk of his childhood.
…Can you explain your predicament by using magic?
Just “poof” them all to understand?
The closest she can do to something like that is mess with their brains like she did with Natalie, and we all know how that ends. Seriously, forcing someone to “understand” with magic is not that different to trying to force Not Holly to date Melvin back in the day. Is against the rules.
But using magic would prove Jean’s claims
@Jacqui:
Yeah, but it wouldn’t reduce the shock of Jean’s parents realizing that their son now sports double-D’s.
Aw man, I missed CD’s pages so much! It’s good to see the duo back as well.
These pages were made a while ago, just for the Xmas Week. so enjoy. 🙂
Hey, CD – Question: is there some significance to the way Jeanie is holding up the bunch of holly in the header? (I know it’s holly, because it has spiky leaves and red berries – mistletoe has oval leaves and white berries.)
Just wondering. Maybe she’s trying to attract Holly from the MC?
Man, I never thought I’d empathize with Jean. And yet here we are. It’s a Festivus miracle!
