Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
Jean was also a boy in J.H. so dressing like a slob was probably ok in his eyes. That hat is going to get him all types of crap from the other girls. If he was a smart person he would just turn invisible to everyone but the shrimp he has to listen to for the day.
I see it in the cartoons, but… really?
Aren’t there dress codes in schools?
HEY! Is Melvin saying what he’d LIKE the girls to wear?
Was that a previous wish? “No Fatties”?
He never said they HAVE to wear them. Unless… OF COURSE!!!!!! Melvin has been stated to have had other genies! So with one of the other genies, he wished that all girls always wore those kind of clothes. Now, because of his uber-sexism, he is a test for new genies to see how they can deal with a master as horrible as HIM!
In summary, Melvin IS sexist and even genie masters like Guano can see it.
Which brings up a good point: This is supposed to be a training exercise, and yet Jeanie still hasn’t been told anything. “Dealing with demanding masters,” yeah yeah yeah, but exactly within what rules?
The Department of Genie Labor is profoundly incompetent. Long past due for a shake-up.
I had an odd thought. Maybe Jean was Melvin ten years ago. Maybe the jinn give some kid an apprentice Jennie. If they abuse their authority over the apprentice they forget they ever had a genie and nine or ten years later they become a new apprentice, repeating the cycle.
You know … I wonder if Jean might not get in trouble / fail her ‘test’ for being too nice to Melvin. While she’s being careful not to use her powers to get back at the annoyances he’s causing her, she’s being scrupulous about giving what he wants.
Now, granted I’m not familiar with the source for this, not being a television-watcher – but almost every genie/djinni story I’ve read/heard about/etc has the wishes being corrupted or twisted because the genie can.
So, if Jean fails the test/training by being too nice…?
Yeah, that’s my problem here. She’s never been told what, exactly, it is she’s supposed to do, other than the list of genie rules Neil put together for her. But that was really aimed at masters, not the genies themselves.
Considering I work 12 hours a day (min), 7 days a week, and am on call when I’m not working. Plus vwhen I go back to work I’m not going to have another day off for 6 months… I figured it’s ok to take a vacation when I can.
Jeanie is learning the hard way how to dress like a girl, and shes not happy 🙂
Well, what the kid thinks girls should, so not really the same. Girls do wear baggy clothes and don’t show off their mid driff in real life.

Jean’s not smart though. I must admit, she should get rid of that hat.
If you think about it what Jeanie was wearing was not that much different from what Marten is wearing.

PS: Shorter = Younger?
There’s a couple signs of youth, but since I’ve never tried to draw a character turned 12 – 15 years old, I’m still practicing.
Other then Height, The younger generation also has larger ears and small bust size (for the girls)
“Midriff”.
Trust me, my mid is drifting.
“clothes”
The kid comes of as a bit sexist. Girls do wear clothes like that.
Any, can’t wait to see what happens next.
“The kid comes of as a bit sexist.”
Ahem. He comes off as a young male. I think that pretty well sums it up.
Males that age desiring to see attractive girls of that age wearing as revealing a costume as possible isn’t sexist, it’s biology.
And in fact, I’ll say that expecting anything else of them is itself sexist.
“I’m seventeen. Linoleum makes me think of sex.”
Actually, it is sexist.
Wanting to see attractive girls to wear isn’t sexist in it self, but saying they have to wear revealing outfits is.
Girls don’t have to and there were plenty in my high school that didn’t.
The kid is saying girls have to wear revealing outfits, that is sexist because they don’t have to.
He never said they HAVE to wear them. Unless… OF COURSE!!!!!! Melvin has been stated to have had other genies! “[T]heir midriff showing” — is this a shoutout to the original TV show, and Barbara Eden’s trendsetting costume?
She should have worn the Sailor Moon outfit
The irony here is that Jean still looks pretty even in baggy clothes. It’s just a different sort of cuteness than in more feminine garb.
Also, too many more of those “girls do this, girls do that” comments, and Melvin is likely to find himself testing his ideas in person.
Then again, if Jean tries she could wind up on double secret probation so she’d probably avoid doing anything…unusual…to Melvin.
Not that it wouldn’t be fitting…

Why do I get the feeling Melvin is one of those gamer geeks with a less-than-charming personality regarding the subject of women?
That is exactly what i was thinking.
Doesn’t matter what Jean wears; as soon as her mind wanders or she falls asleep it’s back to the harem outfit…
As far as training goes, it appears that the purpose of Jean being a genie is suffering and humiliation.
Meanwhile, what’s happening with Neil and his new genie?
> Meanwhile, what’s happening with Neil and his new genie?
Hopefully they’re boinking like bunnies. Neil deserves some good times at last.
Hear hear!
I agree plus if she was locked up in the lamp for a long time she probably needs some exercize .
bottle kinda out of it here.
It sure has been a while since CD updated … I really hope he’s ok? I have not seen any notice, unless I missed one?
On Vacation in Thailand… HAPPY YEAR OF THE RABBIT everyone!
You’re on vacation? AGAIN? How many of those are you going to take?
Have a great time, we will be waiting 🙂
I like vacations.
Considering I work 12 hours a day (min), 7 days a week, and am on call when I’m not working. Plus vwhen I go back to work I’m not going to have another day off for 6 months… I figured it’s ok to take a vacation when I can.
Well when you put it like that, then that’s okay with me.
