A junior engineer working for a small engineering firm in Cocoa Beach. The firm focuses mostly on NASA projects.
Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
Sorry Neil your not a genie today though that would be a cool chapter I dream of role reverse. Look on the bright side you have space engineering knowledge to share.
I think it might be cool that Neil would be forced to use Araceli magic to save Caley or have to grant a wish for her. It would be an interesting twist to the story, especially if there were unexpected consequences for Neil to have to use Araceli that later have to be straighten out. What consequences that would be or how the story could bend or twist along this pathway, I don’t know, but, there are possibilities here.
Araceli seems to be still inside her body, just sharing the corporeal space like roommates with Araceli on the lease and Neil isn’t. If something happened that required magic to rescue Caley, Araceli would do it.
I agree that the way it should go down and by all logic it would probably go down that way. I can see on possible crash and burn scenario where it would not go down that path. Caley has one of those little kid fantasy moments where she talking to herself and kind of wishes that Neil was her Genie instead of Araceli and Neil and Araceli over hear it. I am sure that there are other ways that this could out of control too.
That would appear to be so, but, we know that things don’t go according to the planed program of the people that make those plans. Things have a tendency to go haywire and cockeyed in the Jeanie Bottle world and weird things seam to happen that need to be straightened out.
And meanwhile, Neil’s body is at work without Neil’s mind. Now, whether or not anyone will notice is a mystery, but one or more of these things might happen:
1. Neil is unconscious, unresponsive, and rushed to a hospital.
2. Rodge tries to cover up for Neil, assuming his friend is passed out from some misadventure; Rodge makes such a mess of it trying to talk around the situation with their boss that they both get fired. I think this is very much in the tradition of the original series.
3. Agent Anderson is nosing around the visitor center and catches “Araceli” sounding suspiciously expert about rocket science for a child’s nanny–much like that “librarian” at the conference in Las Vegas.
I’m also wondering how Neil is going to tell Caley what’s happened. Now we know he doesn’t have genie powers, and if the Mean Lady in Charge hears her talking crazy… or if Agent Anderson hears her talking and thinks maybe it isn’t so crazy… or better/worse yet, both of these things happen…
And I’m wondering if Araceli has heard about her new aunt yet…
Alternative theory: Neil’s body vanished when his mind was transferred. He “doesn’t exist” until the field trip is over. He might not be at work in any capacity right now.
If Agent Anderson is around, it would be a good time for her to come out of one of those stall right now after hearing this one sided conversation with some crazy lady talking to a mirror and acting like it talking back to her. Because, he can’t hear Araceli talking only Neil can hear her.
Araceli put a lock on her power so Neil could not use them, which was definitely a good idea. I have one question can that lock on Araceli powers be overridden or circumvented by Caley making a wish? If that can happen and Caley does make a wish and it does overrule Araceli lock out, will there be consequences because of that wish that will need to be fix later on? There are some interesting possibilities here.
Aracelli didn’t lock her powers – she’s using them to talk to Neil in this strip. Aracelli prevented Neil from using them by assigning him just the “nanny” role. The question of what might happen if Caley makes another wish still stands.
As for Neil, why are you complaining? Quality time with Caley exploring your favorite subject sounds like a good deal to me.
You are the Master. If you want magic done, that’s what you have a genie for. Please start using that engineering brain of yours for something other than interplanetary robots.
Now, go out, and give Calley the tour she wants. You are uniquely qualified.
I was thinking of the series of set link disaster, better known as I Dream of Jeanie in a Bottle, and I just starting to think about Fantasy Island 1998-1999 “Estrogen.” Stan Rawlings (Stan Cahill) and his married friend Dave (Dave Sullivan) arrive on the Island to chase girls, and Stan asks Roarke (Malcolm McDowel) to help him learn the secrets of the female mystique. Stan gets transformed into a woman, “Brenda (Liz Vassy),” and Ariel (Mädchen Amick) provides “him” with tips.
Liz Vassey did a great job of being a wise cracking dame, however, the writers had no spark of Imagination and they came up with the standard, all men are pig plot. And I think to this day, how good she would have been in a better plot, something with humors, such as the Jeanie in a bottle.
I can easily see an unforeseen wish making Neil’s new “position ” as nanny a rather lengthy stay, for example, Caley excitingly says, “I wish everyday was like this” and presto chango, Neil’s predicament just got a lot more complicated.
Doesn’t that depend on how many wishes Caley already used? Besides, it would alter reality too much… a Groundhog day time loop as Caley’s tour bus arrives for a tour every day.
That the point that Jeffrey is trying to make Mike. After a blow out like this in either reality or a wayward wish that never should have been take effect, then there is the cleaning the mass up and back the way it was suppose to be afterward.
Caley wish could in fact, create a time loop where we see Caley’s tour bus arrives at the Cape Canaveral several times, before they figure out how to break the time loop and get out of it. Is definitely another possibility that we haven’t seen yet either.
So yes, there are several possibilities out there or nasty consequences to a wish that never should have been honored because of what will happen, because of that wish.
Sorry Neil your not a genie today though that would be a cool chapter I dream of role reverse. Look on the bright side you have space engineering knowledge to share.
And you get some time off from the office too. It’s a win win!
The only loophole that would allow Neil to use Araceli’s magic would be if Caley was in some kind of danger…
Hopefully that won’t happen though. But knowing Neil’s luck with this sort of thing, i’d say its 50/50 either way.
I think it might be cool that Neil would be forced to use Araceli magic to save Caley or have to grant a wish for her. Only till the tour is over then they seperat i bet thats the wish requirement.
I have a question but if Jean was a guy again for a day what would he do without his powers that he relies on so much?
Probably act more like a girl in a guys body and be a Genie girl at that without her powers. She more a girl inside than guy that inside her now.
That would be a fascinating idea for a storyline!
All Neil got from this was high heels, boobs, and babysitting duties.
That would appear to be so, but, we know that things don’t go according to the planed program of the people that make those plans. Things have a tendency to go haywire and cockeyed in the Jeanie Bottle world and weird things seam to happen that need to be straightened out.
The best way of describing I Dream of Jeanie in a Bottle, is a series of set links of disasters.

I miss Agent Anderson… she does need an arc of her own.
Good one, Larry! I hadn’t thought of that. After all, Neil is in the women’s restroom–she was checking the signs before she went in.
There’s someone else who might be taking a potty break: the Mean Lady in Charge.
I miss Agent Anderson.
Although, It was nice for hachimitsu to throw an easter egg in his latest page!
Agent Anderson had better not get owned by that horney dude…
The work Niel was supposed to do might be so boring he will be able to finish it even without his mind :-).
Simple, the reason she is not responding, Araceli is in Niel’s body trying to do his job.
Araceli put a lock on her power so Neil could not use them, which was definitely a good idea. I have one question can that lock on Araceli powers be overridden or circumvented by Caley making a wish? Caley: “This was so much fun. I wish you could go on every field trip with me.”
Cheer up Neil. When Liam gets back you get some free coffee. Just remember to bend over a little in that top.
Honestly, Neil, it is for the best. We’ve all seen *exactly* how temporary being turned into a female genie is, after all…
When you have turn of events like this, I find myself wishing this was a TV show instead of just a comic.
PHENOMENAL COSMIC POWERS! Itty bitty living space. But without the phenomenal cosmic powers.
Darn the fine print in those contracts.
Neil is almost always just about getting the shaft. Strip joints horny Rogers/Nat story arc’s.
Now some other horn dog getting her/him coffee.
O-H M-A-N, what a bummer!
Neil, why would you think you’d get magic powers?
You are the Master. If you want magic done, that’s what you have a genie for. Please start using that engineering brain of yours for something other than interplanetary robots.

so unfair one wants the magic
is the kid’s name Cally, or Caley? either way, I think you guys might’ve mixed up either Panel 1.. or Panels 2 and 3.
Whoops, that’s my bad. Will fix.

So Neil is missing.
I can easily see an unforeseen wish making Neil’s new “position ” as nanny a rather lengthy stay, for example, Caley excitingly says, “I wish everyday was like this” and presto chango, Neil’s predicament just got a lot more complicated.

Well, it’s all tied in with the Mars Orbiter’s excessive fuel consumption. ?comic=jeanie-bottle-577
Blatantly obvious to the meanest intelligence.
Maybe its because Mars Needs Moms… and Jeanie is about to be one.

Arbitrariness can be SO unfair.
