Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
A junior engineer working for a small engineering firm in Cocoa Beach. The firm focuses mostly on NASA projects.
Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
I at least get the feeling that this is not the same night as the movie from the last time we saw the Natalie/Rodge storyline. Hopefully that means those two have had some exciting new experiences together. 🙂
It doesn’t have to have been unprotected sex. And I don’t know how long The Pill takes to start having an effect, but if it’s been long enough, she could possibly be on it, instead.
Kattgirl:> “Getting pregnant isn’t a slam-dunk”
Humans, in fact, are notably infertile. I’ve seen it hypothesized that this evolved along with women not going into heat and the rise of social sex (as opposed to reproductive sex).
IF Jean actually changed Natalie this time! C. D. states on the Information page that it is very difficult for one genie to undo another genie’s magic. I guess we’ll have to wait until next week to hear if Jean says something like “Wait, how are you Natalie now?”
How long will it take for Jeannie to wonder why Neil is now Natalie. Depending on if she really did change him or not!
I am pretty sure she will poof him back once she figures out why Natalie wants to be alone with Rodge! I kinda doubt Jeannie would want that for her old buddy!
I don’t think that Jeannie changed Neil into Natalie, because, she is just as confused and dis-oriented at Neil being Natalie as the rest of us are. Besides, Jeannie didn’t have a reason and nor was she thinking that far ahead to change Neil into Natalie. So that leave there probably several other possibilities like Jeannie doing it in her sleep, Blue Djinn doing through mind control or another Genie that look like Jeannie did it.
I am going for one of the other possibilities of another Genie changing Neil into Natalie. It that case, Jeannie going to have a problem changing Natalie back into Neil and reversing the mind control over Natalie to think like a girl and act like a girl that belongs to Rodge.
Oh, I have been away for a few weeks! My computer crashed! So I had to setup another computer so I could get back on line. It took awhile to locate everything.
Honestly? I think Jean’s magic is responsible, even if Jean herself didn’t consciously will the change. Having it be another genie responsible begs the question of which genie, why they bothered with this particular gender swap, why the change ended up turning Neil into Natalie, and probably other questions as well.
The current plan is to format a new one terabit hard drive and transfer the data of the other drive over to it. That way I will have window 7 unit and a window 8 computer. I am currently using a window 8 computer. I also have a window 10 computer that I picked up not too long ago too. So I have three separate computers. I was also thinking about putting together a Linux computer, just for kicks.
I was also thinking about playing around with cartooning, but, it been a long time since done anything like that. Then I haven’t done very much of it or did I get very proficient at it either.
Natalie is not under mind control, she is just under hormones. We never choose who we are attacked to. All the genie in question had to do, was to make her a heterosexual women.
The reason that everybody is thinking that Natalie is under mind control, is, because, Natalie is no longer acting like the mind of Neil inside her head. She acting like Neil is no longer home or inside her head and it just Natalie that inside that head of her, that thinking about it. It more than just hormones too, that is if Neil still inside Natalie head, which he not or has been deactivated or something like that. Natalie is acting more like a women that a man that in a women and that the problem.
Jeannie has had maybe 6 months to get use to being a girl and it starting to wear it way into her spirit and become part of who she is. Natalie is only been a few hour to maybe a day or two. It too much too fast and completely out of character for who Natalie is. That why there is probably an outside force that working on her.
It can’t have been too long- based on the idea of how long one can operate without proving ID in today’s world.. no more then a few days? Unless Rodge has been taking care of her in which case weeks… I wonder how far their relationship progressed 🙂
You really think Jean’s universe doesn’t have an MIB/X-files organization? Actually that seemed pretty explicit in Melvin. Anderson may not know she’s part of it yet, but the Top Men clearly have seen things like this before.
@Tom: Agreed. The only logical explanation for why Agent Anderson’s transformation was handled so casually is that the government spooks weren’t surprised, even though Anderson was ignorant.
I expect that it’s only been a day or at most two, and Natalie could have simply called in sick.
In most companies, you build up sick days over time. It’s been at least a few months since then, I assume, so he’d have a couple more sick days banked by now.
OH OH i know, LONG enough to see the Festivities of Excitement to happen. That or the spell is a Mixolydian of disaster O_O!
This is fun ^ ^! and I am enjoying your comic more and more, Plus had a bad day and injured my hand. I willwork on some more but made some progress on jean’s appearance!
I’m betting that it hasn’t been long, a day or two at most.
I won’t be surprised if Rodge himself will be shocked at his reception.
“Jeanie! Thank God you’re here! I don’t know what’s wrong with her! She can’t keep her hands off–No, I swear! I haven’t done anythin–No, really! She’s scaring me!”
@50srefugee – yes, that actually sounds like Rodge. Now that he’s aware of the Neal/Natalie situation, and seems a little gun-shy when she’s in the mood, he’s probably freaking out right now.
That just gave me an idea that I absolutely love! If Rodge shows up before Jean turns Natalie back into Neil, maybe she’ll solve the whole “weird attraction” thing by turning Rodge into a woman!
That’s something we have still yet to see, and I’d find it very amusing in this context. 🙂
I think Jean transformed Neil into Natalie in order to hide his/her master from the Blue Djinn because it has been established that Guano couldn’t recognize Neil when he was transformed into Natalie. As for why that transformation went further than normal, my best guesses are that it could be the result of a cumulative effect of repeated changes, Jean being half asleep, or an accidental wish by a more-than-half-asleep Rodge back when he and Jean were in New York.
One possibility is that while in New York, a sleeping Rodger’s hand made enough contact with the bottle to summon a sleeping Jean. Consider the possibilities if Rodger were talking in his sleep at the time.
I’d still call that dark. Not that there’s anything wrong with being gay, but this is something wrong with having your sexual orientation changed without your consent.
Oh boy. Just when you think things couldn’t be any more…… exciting. Here we have Neil telling Jean to leave him, I mean, her, I mean……… AAAAAHHHHHHHH! THIS IS SO AMUSING.
Okay, look at panel one. Natalie checking herself out, meaning the female personality is in control. She has the look of wanting Rodge bad and needs to get laid. Look out Rodge.
There might be a rule to magic that if a male turned into a female has sex they get stuck female. Or turning them back to their original sex is more difficult.
Hmm, this might just be me over-reading, but could this particular Natalie-change be from the blue djinn instead? Jeanie has never done a mental change like that.
I think it’s true that Jeanie has never done a mental change on her own. That fishing boat captain made a wish that Jeanie twisted into turning HIM into a wife, instead of herself. It seems like that the “mind to mush” effect is part of the magic trying to make her get married, but in a way that doesn’t explicitly take away her free will (since genies can’t do that).
That seems unlikely, because it’s quite clear that Natalie was going whole hog on the seduction at the theater. Unless Rodge successfully held her off after that, which isn’t impossible, but seems unlikely, they would have gone back to Natalie’s place together. So it’s unlikely that Natalie would be waiting for Rodge to arrive unless she’s anticipating a second (or subsequent) date.
It’s worth noting that, at first, ‘Neil’ reasserted himself the moment that Rodge left. Now it’s pretty clear that things have progressed to the point where Natalie’s desires are running the show all the time now.
Ok I have a criticism, please don’t take too hard (I love the comic and it won’t make stop reading.) You have refined your look for the comic and characters, you have the faces and bodies down pat but your hands really need to be refined. I know hands are the worst to draw but you really need to practice doing them. My best suggestion is to look online for tutorials, I’m sure there are some.
You have come a long way in the look of your comics, if you look at the beginning you really see a difference and its all for the good. Keep at it and I’m sure this and your new projects will look totally awesome.
I’ve concluded that the hands reflect not a lack of ability, but rather a stylistic choice. If you look at the earliest comics, many of the hands were mere blobs, without fingers. They’ve gradually evolved, and frankly, I don’t see any real issue there. Hell, if Picasso can put both eyes on one side of the nose, who cares about minor details like finger proportions?
I think the complaint comes down to hands and feet being a very common “failing” among artists. A lot of them don’t bother getting good at drawing digits, because it’s “too hard”, or something.
I don’t think this is what CD does, though, because his hands are quite consistent. He’s developed a style for them and stuck with it for a long time. They don’t look “realistic”, but realism is clearly not what CD goes for in his comic art.
What the last panel tells us is that Jean is surprised that Natalie wants to sleep with Rodge, which does suggest Jean didn’t intend for that to happen, even if she did change Neil into Natalie. I don’t think its an accident that C.D. didn’t actually show Jean turning Neil into Natalie this time. Look back at #436.. In the fourth panel, we see Jean, or a genie that looks like Jean but whose face is obscured. Neil’s sleeping face is not obscured. In the last panel, Jean or whoever has poofed out in a familiar pink nimbus–and Neil is unchanged. We don’t see Natalie until the next day when Rodge comes over, five comics later. This is why I expect Jean will reveal she doesn’t remember turning Neil into Natalie in the next comic.
Good call, Tom. One other point; in the very next comic, #437, Jeanie awakes in Haji’s palace with no knowledge of how she got there. Either she was sleep-walking (and sleep-poofing) or else her body (or one just like it) was under someone else’s control. I’m betting on the latter. And the Blue Djinn is high on the suspect list.
Well, we know that a genie can be summoned by another genie because Guano pulled Araceli to the apartment despite her being bottled up under the sea, so Jean could have been pulled to the harem while she was asleep, which would explain her confusion upon waking. And looking closely at #436, you can see a slight change in the composition of the last two panels. In addition to showing more of the sleeping Anton’s hair, the last panel also shows more of the bookshelf. More significantly (maybe, anyhow, it could just be that CD didn’t copy/paste the background) Neil (or Natalie) does not block as much of the books’s spines in the final panel, possibly indicating his/her body is smaller than in panel three.
Yes! Natalie is back!
Judging from Natalie’s expression in the mirror and her trying to get jean to leave, I am assuming that she has been gone a long while….
Now we just need a flashback to tell us how far they have gone together. ^^
I at least get the feeling that this is not the same night as the movie from the last time we saw the Natalie/Rodge storyline. Hopefully that means those two have had some exciting new experiences together. 🙂
Natalie isn’t wearing a ring, so Jean hasn’t been gone long enough for them to be engaged yet at least.
Though my guess is they have gotten together in the sack at least once or twice, especially if the look on Natalie’s face is any indication.
I wonder if all her old clothes have been replaced with brand new women’s clothes yet?
“Hopefully that means those two have had some exciting new experiences together.”
What, that we got no slightest glimpse of? Bite your tong–er, sprain your forefing–um, kinda harsh–Tear a hangnail!
maybe…
the end of weeks of sex
If that’s the case, then wouldn’t Natalie be pregnant by now?
It doesn’t have to have been unprotected sex. And I don’t know how long The Pill takes to start having an effect, but if it’s been long enough, she could possibly be on it, instead.
@Robert:
The pill takes weeks to build up enough of a hormone level. It’s not an instant on-off switch.
@SageM:
Not necessarily. Getting pregnant isn’t a slam-dunk; it can take many tries. In some cases, never.
@SageM – depends on position and . . . location (tried to say it in a non-gross way).
Kattgirl:> “Getting pregnant isn’t a slam-dunk”
Humans, in fact, are notably infertile. I’ve seen it hypothesized that this evolved along with women not going into heat and the rise of social sex (as opposed to reproductive sex).
I wonder if Neil still has a job.
That was my thought as well, I suspect that it has not been longer than a few days, but with a job like Neil’s that could lead to some real problems.
Jean better not change Natalie back. Natalie forever!
IF Jean actually changed Natalie this time! C. D. states on the Information page that it is very difficult for one genie to undo another genie’s magic. I guess we’ll have to wait until next week to hear if Jean says something like “Wait, how are you Natalie now?”

I am pretty sure she will poof him back once she figures out why Natalie wants to be alone with Rodge! I kinda doubt Jeannie would want that for her old buddy!
But with the poof back will it then be Neil that has the hots for Rodge?
I don’t think that Jeannie changed Neil into Natalie, because, she is just as confused and dis-oriented at Neil being Natalie as the rest of us are. Sorry to head about your computer crashing! That always sucks. I hope you had backups, so you didn’t lose any important data.
The current plan is to format a new one terabit hard drive and transfer the data of the other drive over to it. That way I will have window 7 unit and a window 8 computer. I am currently using a window 8 computer. I also have a window 10 computer that I picked up not too long ago too. So I have three separate computers. Well, Rodge and Natalie haven’t moved in together yet…
@GuardingDark: I don’t know – I go for weeks without pulling out ID. A credit card, yes, but not ID.
Good point but surly she still has to work? Anderson somehow got away with it though..
@Kattgirl: Didn’t Neil use up all his sick days waiting for Jean to change him back after the Las Vegas trip?
In most companies, you build up sick days over time. It’s been at least a few months since then, I assume, so he’d have a couple more sick days banked by now.
OH OH i know, LONG enough to see the Festivities of Excitement to happen. That or the spell is a Mixolydian of disaster O_O!

Sorry to hear about your hand. Though I’m happy to hear that you are enjoying the comic! 🙂
I’m surprised Natalie is not in a sexy night gown.
And I wonder what new appliances she has in the house.
Rodge is planning to come over, so that’s probably why is in the robe instead.
She just got out of the shower. Give her time.
Well, it now seems fairly certain that Jeannie isn’t behind Natalie’s hormone surge. At least not deliberately.
My guess is that it was either Jehane, or more likely, Jeannie-look-alike #3, that turned Neil into Natalie this time.
I can’t wait to hear how Natalie answers Jeanie’s question.
That sounds pretty likely. I’m thinking the movie was last night.
Yes, we are long overdue for Rodge to get a taste of girlification.
“solve the whole “weird attraction” thing by turning Rodge into a woman!”
Who knows, perhaps Rodge will be up for some girl-on-girl action.
@Fearless Ferret: I have a feeling that Rodge would be far more interested in watching something like that if HE wasn’t one of the “girls”.
Give her money for a movie and a box of popcorn—better make it enough for two movies and two boxes…
I think Jean transformed Neil into Natalie in order to hide his/her master from the Blue Djinn because it has been established that Guano couldn’t recognize Neil when he was transformed into Natalie. As for why that transformation went further than normal, my best guesses are that it could be the result of a cumulative effect of repeated changes, Jean being half asleep, or an accidental wish by a more-than-half-asleep Rodge back when he and Jean were in New York.
sounds very plausible, good thinking
An intriguing hypothesis. Though I’m not sure why Jean would have to perform a wish made by Rodge. He’s not her master, Kaylee (Rodge’s niece) is.
Robert… I’m a little confused – are you perhaps mixing up Jean and Araceli?
One possibility is that while in New York, a sleeping Rodger’s hand made enough contact with the bottle to summon a sleeping Jean. Consider the possibilities if Rodger were talking in his sleep at the time.
@Kattgirl: Ugh, yes, I totally am. How the hell did I do that? lol
If Jean did turn her back… what if her feelings remained? That would be pretty dark .
You mean gay. The word you’re looking for is gay, not dark. If Natalie turned back into Neil and he still wanted Rodge’s boner, that would be gay.

I know, right?! I love that panel!!
OH NO here comes the trainwreak.
whats under the robe
There might be a rule to magic that if a male turned into a female has sex they get stuck female. Or turning them back to their original sex is more difficult.
Hmm, this might just be me over-reading, but could this particular Natalie-change be from the blue djinn instead? Jeanie has never done a mental change like that.
Actually, Jean has. The captain of the fishing boat became a “woman whose mind goes to mush every time she meets a new man” in strip 315.
We really don’t know how long it has been, Natalie could still just be trying to ‘seduce’ Rodge in the first place.
The problem with your idea is: Neil not home, Natalie is!
That seems unlikely, because it’s quite clear that Natalie was going whole hog on the seduction at the theater. Unless Rodge successfully held her off after that, which isn’t impossible, but seems unlikely, they would have gone back to Natalie’s place together. It’s worth noting that, at first, ‘Neil’ reasserted himself the moment that Rodge left. Now it’s pretty clear that things have progressed to the point where Natalie’s desires are running the show all the time now.
Natalie’s expression, on the last panel, suggests, ” What the hell am I doing!!?”
panel one is what we used to call bedroom eyes.
Ok I have a criticism, please don’t take too hard (I love the comic and it won’t make stop reading.)
