The triumphant (and sexy!) return of Agent Anderson!

Agent Anderson arc, whooo! Also, sending them through time?! I would think that would require quite a bit of power (1.21 Gigawatts or the magic equivalent). Anderson is trying to keep covered in that one piece, must still be self conscious in that body.
Yeah, wow. And With Jeanie’s habit of “magicking and forgetting”…I’m actually hoping she gets in trouble for this.
On the art side, nice non-traditional use of panel borders in the beginning of todays comic. CD’s really starting to stretch his artistic muscles!!
Guano might be busy with the other Genie Lords.
I doubt it, the genies have larger concerns.
I think CD might be gently hinting that Guano is in the last panel of the previous comic. So I guess it looks like Guano is going to be guarding the palace for awhile.
However, the grey-haired one’s plan has two parts, and the other part is bringing the young genies to the palace. Jean certainly is one of the young genies, so maybe one of the female genie lords will be paying her a visit.
Or maybe Araceli. She seems young, but if she actually knew the real Aladdin and the Forty Thieves, she has to be over a thousand years old.
Personally I’d like to hear more about Araceli’s history; former masters, exactly how long she was stuck in that bottle, etc.
Jeanie is now guilty of murder, how disappointing.
Naw, she’s just guilty of child endangerment. She put a couple of immature asses in harms way, somebody else will do the killing.
I’d much rather be on that beach than a normal beach. Granted I wouldn’t want to be there in swimming trunks, but still.
Also this comic has definitely taken a turn for the dark the last couple panels…
I approve.
The guys on the beach kind of look like the guys that caught Jeanie and Natalie way back in Jeanie Bottle 56, except the white guy didn’t have red hair then. Dye job? Hairpiece?
When Jeanie gets zapped into Haji’s palace I wonder if Agent Anderson will be accidentally scooped up as well.
Now that would be interesting, especially if Jeanie trying to get out of doing the belly dance and try to pass it off to Agent Anderson. Now that might be funny.
Wait… wasn’t there a genie who was aligned with the nazis during WW2? … WELP I’m just gonna go over there, in that corner, in that room, in that house, in that neighborhood, in that city, in that country, on that continent, on that world, in that star system, in that galaxy, in that galaxy cluster in that universe over there. But don’t worry! I’ll have my pillow to protect me like a shield.
Rouyaa’s half sister, Eevi (aka Eva) was the Genie that Hitler had. Ref Comics Jeanie Bottle 164 and Jeanie Bottle 378
Lord Kazom’s visit happened before D-Day. The radio news was of strong German defenses in southern Italy. So it has to be the winter of 1943-1944. Rome was taken on June 4, 1944, two days before D-Day, and fighting moved on to northern Italy. So shouldn’t Eevi have lost her powers before D-Day?
If those two were the main characters in a comic strip, everyone would assume they would get out of this situation in some comic fashion in the next strip. I’m willing to believe that.
But you know, they’ve landed in the middle of the naval bombardment which will go on for another ten minutes. There’s no German on the other end of that MG, they are all hiding in the bunkers under the gun emplacements until the world stops going BOOM. It’s another 15 minutes before the doors on the LCs open and the slaughter begins.
If Agent Anderson gets caught up and gets taken to Haji’s palace it would be cool if she gets transformed into a genie.
Well, the only way we know how to do that of according to Kazom is by using an vacant totem (they don’t have to be bottles.)
However…
The original Jeannie was a human who was transformed into a genie by…
The Blue Djinn!!!!
So, genies are allowed to kill or is this a loophole?
Well, obviously Eevi was able to drive quite a lot through that loophole.
The only real limitation on genie magic in the canon of this strip (again, according to Kazom) is that they cannot change human will. The facts that Rouyaa and Eevi were punished is because they could and did break the rules as set by Haji, and they had to use their magic to break those rules.
As Nanase Kitsune in El Goonish Shive described the laws of physics in her universe as “more like polite suggestions,” so does the rule about obeying the human master. The obvious example is Jean, of course, but there is another in Eevi: She didn’t have to follow his orders, especially the ones she had to know were evil. Which is kind of appropriate to the war we’re talking about now when so many of the participants pleaded after the war that they were “only following orders.”
Meh, who cares about death and carnage on a beach?
The real problem with this strip is that in frame one, Jeanie has somehow acquired Karl Malden’s nose. More time travel hijinks?
Uhh… I really hope you plan on doing some sort of re-writing with this.
At this point you are effectively either going to murder them (way uncalled for) or disrespect the very real struggle of soldiers by depicting two hapless and clueless guys managing to escape a death that most of the trained soldiers could not.
I’m hoping you decide to retcon this to reveal that they were sent to some sort of fantasy simulation or the like, just to scare them without putting them in real danger.
I have to be honest and say I hold similar concerns. Hitler having a genie was pushing it but… acceptable as it was interesting to explore and wonder with. I’m not too sure what the joke will be but it’s got to be played to the end before judged. To give some American perspective it’s the equivalent of putting somone at pearl harbour, or even at ground zero of 9/11. I wonder why Jeanie just didn’t teleport them in front of a bus… would have the same effect and be somewhat kinder. (Except to the driver)
Also because I can’t help it, I like to consider what the reaction would be if genders were reversed. Hmm. Jeannie is not a nice human and at this point not a Jeanie but a demon. Those Greek fishermen were 100% right.
You know most of Jean actions in the past could be defended (to a degree at least) by his short sightedness, but this one comes across as just plain evil, and frankly, out of character. There had better be a good explanation for this.
@Marscaleb, @Ben, and numerous others:
It’s a beach. They’re just hanging out, showing off their muscles. Anderson approached them, not the other way round. They are, in Jeanie’s words, very much minding their own business.
As annoying as these guys are, the fact is that Anderson approached them, and despite the shirt, she’s wearing an attractive, low-cut one-piece. Even if, as others have suggested, she’s doing this to “fit in”, the fact is, she’s not to be taken seriously. Sorry, ladies, but that’s the way most men will respond. (If not quite with so much stereotypical obnoxiousness.)
I chalk this up to Anderson’s lack of experience as a girl.
Dollars to half-melted snowcones, these guys have been approached before, and they are responding in ways that have worked for them before. Not very often, perhaps, but enough to encourage them.
Jeanie’s response is way, way, overboard. Again, dollars to solid gold Cadillacs, this is exactly how Jean behaved before he got himself bottled.
And Jeanie march into women hood continues! Even with all the ranting and raving that Jeanie has done or will do in the future about being a man, she is continuing moving to seeing herself as a women and not a man. She is increasing seeing thing the way a women see things and is increasing offended at the way many if not the way that most guys treat girls and increasingly she is even starting to reject the way she treated girls in the past, because now she on the receiving end of this business.
I am also thinking that these guys, probably tried to pick of Jeanie a few times too, by the way that Jeanie acting, because that pretty harsh even for Jeanie to send two boy to the front lines in the Normandy just before D-day before the shooting started. Jeanie see them trying there magic and Jeanie flips out and jump off the deep end and uses her magic. End of story.
My sister would probably have shot these guys.
Okay, Agent Anderson hates being female – Agent Anderson has been trying to find the person who changed her so she can change back – why in the WORLD is she dressed like that? lol I mean, Jean is a man-woman-whore who thinks all women dress like he/she dresses 😛 but Anderson seems a bit… off
Camouflage.
Plus if she went with just trunks like the two guys she would attract a lot more attention :-).
His swimsuit is rather conservative though.
Lol, that reminds me of this old comic:

Assuming the next comic will be coming out tomorrow, it will be the 73rd anniversary of D-Day. Possibly the timing won’t be a coincidence. We may be seeing more of our time travelers.
And if this is going to be another crossover to an old TV series, the most obvious one would be Hogan’s Heroes which started its original run the same week as I Dream of Jeanie. It would fit the whole dreaming of escape thing, since the series was set in a POW camp and the premise was that Hogan and his crew stayed in the camp (mostly) to help other POWs escape.
The big question is how can Mr. Rudd involve Jean in this? If she thinks about it, she can just pop them back. However, considering Jeanie hasn’t remembered to change the Scarlet Avenger back to the boy she used to be, this isn’t at all that likely. And also not nearly as much fun.
From the title, I would think that the “escape” involves Jeanie escaping from Haji’s Palace, or from the Blue Djinn, or both. But neither of those possibilities seem to have any connection with those two guys stranded on the beach in 1944.
Unless…
What if Lord Shona didn’t complete the mission Kazom told Rouyah about? What if the previous comic actually took place at about the same time Kazom was talking about what Haji had decided to do about Eevi? On June 3 I posited that Eevi should have lost her powers well before D-Day, but maybe she didn’t. Maybe she not only still has her powers, but the “help” of the Blue Djinn.
How to get Jeanie back to 1944? Maybe being summoned by either Eevi or the Blue Djinn, possibly mistaking her for Rouyah. It would be a natural mistake if they summoned the bottle.
Maybe just another amazing crackpot pot theory, but if any of it turns out to be true, I get bragging rights.
Getting Jeanie back in 1944 is no big deal at all. All CD Rudd has to do to get Jeanie back there, is for Jeanie to have some personal for go back 1944 like maybe her grandfather before her father was born and there fore Jeanie can’t be born she has to repair time line. But, you would have to have Jeanie out side the time line so that Jeanie doesn’t disappear die before she has a chance to fix the time line so that Jeanie will be in it.
Jeanie don’t generally do things like that, but, if you have a fight between Haji and the Blue Djinn, it might be necessary, because other there fight with each other. One of a Genie fight and blowing things away magically.
As if we needed further proof that Jean is more than a little psychotic.
In response to the many comments about how cruel it is to time shift two characters to Omaha Beach just before the balloon goes up, I feel obligated to point out this is a fictional cartoon. As such the author has complete control over the fate of said characters and the danger they are in is totally up to him. I say this in order to remind people we are dealing with a story in which plot elements do not HAVE to be absolutely random nor faithful to historical probability. If this were true much of what is humorous in art and literature would not be permitable.
So before we get too worked up over the fate of our errant beach boys let us see what the plot has in store for them. Normandy Beach on June 6th may be an extreme overkill for punishment, but so is getting hit by a falling safe, so let’s just let this story play out. (By the way, June 6 is my birthday and many of my friends are convinced it’s in some way Germany’s method of getting revenge on us.)
May very well be one of those Timerider,The Final Countdown “the time line is as it should be because these guys were supposed to go back in time” events. The two poor souls infused with a little magical survival skills. There’s going to be plenty of spare uniforms, weapons and gear on that beach very shortly and getting off that beach and a long slog across Europe is a definite attitude adjuster.
Well… that’s effectively a double-murder.
Kind of over the top there, Jean.
