Jeanie Bottle 276
Looks like Belle is too happy to see her “boyfriend” to care about Jeanie’s poorly fabricated story. But what emotion is Jeanie feeling in the last panel? Stay tuned for this Thursday’s comic to find out! It may not be what you’d expect.
Wow.
Suddenly, I feel incredibly sorry for Belle… to this point, I had pictured her just putting up with Jean’s BS out of something like habit, but wow. She was actually in love with the doof.
This is gonna hurt.
Wasn’t she snogging a bunch of men while he was gone? Sounds like she doesn’t care about him so much after all.
Well in all honesty Jean is to “blame” for, leaving out of no where one day with very little contact between him and Belle
Actually she was shown going to a movie with one guy to my knowledge and he could have been a brother/cousin/friend or rebound attempt to deal with the guy she loved just up and leaving without a word.
Jean-ie looks like she is going to blow and Bell has not kissed Neil/Jean yet.
Yes, Jeanie has finally realized the huge flaw in his plan.
The important question is not whether she’s jelous but who she’s jelous of.
The green-eyed monster emerges. Maybe this romance-by-imitation will be interrupted by turning someone into a green-eyed monster.
Looks like a combination of envy and relief. It was a good plan Jean, until it backfired.
As far as we know, Jeanie has seen Belle kissing one other guy at the mall and she did not seem as upset then, though certainly a little upset.
So, Jeanie looks annoyed, but is she annoyed because Belle is all over Neil-Jean, or is she annoyed because Neil-Jean isn’t playing the part well enough. Notice he’s not returning her hug. Jean/Jeanie wants to keep Belle interested in him as a boyfriend, so Neil needs to at least keep her interested. On the other hand, Jeanie may get jealous if Neil plays the part *too* well. Neil is screwed either way . . . so he may as well just go for it with Belle. He won’t, of course, but he should.
Or is she jealous because Belle is hugging Neil, or that Neil is getting hugged by Belle?
My money’s on Brandi. Neil-Jean may not be playing his part very well, but that looks like real fear in his eyes–he’s not looking at Belle, he’s looking at a furious Jean, who is looking very much like she did just before Neil’s two previous trips to the strip club…
Especially since the original I Dream of Jeannie was a romantic comedy, where Jeannie ultimately fell in love with and married her master. It’s not surprising that Jean would start to do the same despite originally being a guy, since it’s his expectations of what it means to be a genie that put him in that form to begin with.
Fun point and especially entertaining to me as I just read a one shot manga where the guy got turned into the female lead of an adult dating game because the god he prayed too wasn’t up to date with human stuff and assumed when he asked to be the protagonist he was reffering to the picture of the girl on the cover. Rambling aside if one is turned into a being that has certain roles built in as it were do those roles take over and change your own reactions in time?
Huh, that’s a tad bit strange, the word Jeanie is italicized in the description. Why the need for emphasis, might be fun to find out.
I italicized “Jeanie” as emphasis for her different emotional state. To paraphrase:
“Belle is happy, but how is *Jeanie* feeling?”
Jelous
Remember, there’s different uses of Jean’s name in this comic.
Jean (Jean’s Original name and short form for Jeannie)
Jeanie (sounds like Jeannie, but is used by people who KNOW who Jean use to be)
Jeannie (The proper spelling, used by people who don’t know Jean was actually Jean before, Like Belle)
Oh trust me I remember… somehow. My memory isn’t so great on certain terms, like instructions for a school project.
You know, you have that poll in the sidebar asking if we think Belle be told the truth or not. I’ve been thinking, and I kind of want to rescind my answer.
Yeah, I kind of want her to know the truth, but really, it comes down to how funny the story is. Maybe if she’s kept in the dark there are more funny stories that can be told, more awkward situations, and then some.
So really, whether she knows or not, I just want something funny to happen. Everything else is secondary.
