Jeanie Bottle 111
What’s not to like about Math?
You may ask, why Melvin’s friends aren’t freaking out about magic being done in front of them. If you recall, both of them knew Melvin already has a genie, Kazom.
As well, Jean has proved her magical ability by making a half-girl-half-squirrel-super-power-being appear (aka, Grace from El Goonish Shive).
*poof*
Got that, at least, but I should have seen the math coming.
Interesting that none of these so called “geeks” isn’t freaking out at physics being totally shredded.
Sufficiently advanced magic is indistinguishable from technology.
yesyesyes.
But these protogeeks have, in that view, just had some very advanced tech demonstrated to them, tech indicating that a very large chunk of their worldview is either woefully inadequate or just flat wrong.
They’ve just seen something really cool, and didn’t blink.
But then, they’ve been seeing stranger stuff than that for awhile. And I wonder if SF and fantasy in general, to say nothing of real technology, haven’t trained us all to take magic for granted if we see it. “Oh yeah,” we handwave, ” it’s quantum. Or op amps. Nifty little bits of kit, op amps.”
Hm, have I mentioned Eliezer Yudkowsky’s “Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality” here? Looks at some of this stuff pretty directly, and is pretty funny when it does so.
You mean like how a physics professor could be brought to tears?
shouldn’t that be in reverse?
“Sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.”
I prefer the corollary: any technology that is distinguishable from magic is not sufficiently advanced. Doesn’t apply in the current situation, but…
– Rick Albertson
Yes…. I turned it around, but I think I’m still correct.
Teleportation is hundreds, maybe thousands of years in the future.
“Sufficiently analyzed magic is indistinguishable from technology.”
…not that they’re actually doing that.
lol this is funny i almost posted it on facebook!
agh how do you deleate comments

You want the Padawan Learner one removed?
ugh sorry it doesn’t matter it’s the star wars thing i don’t like my geak-ness
yes please sorry about that i hate my geaky-ness
Jean can’t understand the marvels and mirages of math world, I’m sorry for her/him/wtv, 😛
um wait pi is not symetrical
th enumber itself is 3.14 {that is if you round it the real one not to many people know}
Pi isn’t even algebraic. It’s the oldest transcendental. Any math geek would know this.
woops just re read and realised my comment is a moot point
any way i love this comic cd rudd keep bringing more jeanie
{also please ditch the whole marvin thing soon i want to see more of jeanies interactions with neal
Disagree. Stick Jean with Marvin and the talking cat; assign Blue Genie permanently to Neil. Everyone gets what (s)he deserves.
