Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
The great thing here is that Jeanie, being who and what she really is, could actually be in a position to give these guys some much needed guidance. “OK, boys, here’s what’s worked for me… No, I mean, what worked for me when I was a guy. No, seriously. I’m telling you, I cut a swath! The hot chicks simply cannot get enough alpha-male internet reviewer action, I’m telling you!”
OK, that last may be overstepping a bit. But I do have the impression that Jean has indeed gotten more action than Neil, and that Jeanie could actually get these guys what they really want without depending on her magic.
Yaay thanks for the update. I was dying over here. Anyway, poor Jeane, surrounded by cynical nerds arguing over what conjurations would specifically rate her as a real genie. I could see her summoning a bully to pound Melvin (? I already forgot his name) but they would probably argue that does not constitute contractual request obedience and therefore does not prove that she is a genie.
I figured this out (I had to go back half a dozen strips) but after several weeks with the new jeanie and neal in chains I had forgotten about the other storyline. I don’t remember these other boys at all. So I have a suggestion and an idea.
suggestion: put a header on top saying something like “meanwhile back in the high school…”
idea: What if she shows them she’s a genie by changing the two new boys into girls, then ‘forgets’ to change them back.
I did see the large volume of words in the first panel.
maybe shrinking or lowering the panel slightly to get a transition note in might work in the future. Or ID the two boys as the other master’s school friends in the last panel or two as a footnote?
In any case it was well worth the effort to figure it out! Thanks for the wonderful strip!
(Now, if you could get Barbara Eden to make a cameo appearance it would be an even more wonderful and perfect strip!!!!! Perhaps as a guest teacher for the new genies?)
I’m Afraid the only way I’d be including Barbara Eden is if I was asked by Mrs Eden herself, or the company who currently owns the copyrights on the TV show. I’m already treading close to the legal limits of what I can do without worrying about being sued.
Jeanie: Master, would you like to have girlfriends?
Melvin: Yeah! Sexy ones in cute outfits. [by ‘cute’ he means ‘skimpy’]
Jeanie: [POOF and Melvin’s friends find they’re sexy girls in ‘cute’ outfits.]
Melvin: Wow! [faints]
Friends: [realize they can go in the girls’ locker room and watch them changing clothes and taking showers – but they’re not interested – they just want Melvin… and each other. They faint.]
Jeanie: [crosses arms and looks VERY satisfied.]
It’s not hard to see Jean exasperatedly conjuring up a mutant squirrel with super powers and there’s Grace from EGS, blinking wondering how she got there.
Bunny Genie has brown hair, certainly, but she lacks Neil’s spare tire (or has had it shifted upstairs, yowsa) and the heavy bangs over his left eye. Also, her skin tone is different.

Weird Science – The Next Generation?

:-p
Mutant squirrel And Tedd and Nanase and Elliot and Susan…
Gadget from Disney’s Tailspin?
Slappy from Animaniacs?
Rocky?
There is no such character as ‘Gadget’ in TaleSpin. Maybe you meant Wildcat, the Higher for Hire’s mechanic?
You mean Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers, right?

I considered putting a caption like that… Problem is there is a lot of dialog in this comic. There’s no place to fit it…
Plus I figured the lockers in the background would have been a give away.

Please. Oh, pleeaazz!
I just noticed with this comic that Jean made herself the same age as the rest of the students earlier when she poofed out of the genie outfit lol…
Also — who is the bunny girl in the title image now supposed to be?
Bunny Girl looks like female-type Neil.
It’s not hard to see Jean exasperatedly conjuring up a mutant squirrel with super powers and there’s Grace from EGS, blinking wondering how she got there.

Seeing them standing by the lockers I was waiting to see if Jane and Daria walk by. LOL
wait an alien with superman’s powers would be superman because he was born on the planet Krypton before it blowed up.
I feel so much happier now I untndsraed all this. Thanks!
