Fan Takeover: The Ultimate Corruption of Jean Nessman
This one’s a good bit darker than the other fics that Shadowrnnr has written. Which is unsurprising, given that it tells the backstory of how Genie Natalie came to be alt-Jean’s harem slave.
Please enjoy The Ultimate Corruption of Jean Nessman!
Like spiderman Uncle Ben use to say Power is a poison that corrupts you.
Some would say power merely shows who you actually are, by enabling your actual morals.
Canon Neil was in the same position as Jean, yet he remains the same.
Because Neil didn’t want any of that power, so he wasn’t corruptible.
at least Nell got her revenge on her EX Friend.
A brassiere and a brazier are not at all similar.
Fixed. Darn autocorrect.
Please! AutoCORRUPT, tyvm. (You still do better than LOTS of Kindle Unlimited offerings )
‘Survival needs’ would that include intellectual stimuli? Sure Jean is too much of a hedonist to think of that, but it’s shown the human brain needs stimuli to continue to properly function.
Those stimuli don’t need to be THAT much intelectual.
This Jean meeting his fate was perhaps inevitable. He wasn’t very bright, he relied totally on the smarts of others, he had no real cunning or guile, and he was always one word away from his doom the entire time, instead of making a wish that would render the danger moot since he already had all he desired anyway. But he WASN’T smart, and his situation left him increasingly lazy and complacent, the slip of the tongue that would destroy him was fated from the start. And it turns out the other genies were just waiting to strike anyway. He made the classic mistake of grabbing for everything, getting greedy, wanting even more, and ending up with nothing. And sentenced to a slow horrific death. I assume wishes can’t affect a genie directly, or he could have simply wished for Nell to love him and be as pervy as him. Then again, that was the real key to his downfall, he didn’t even comprehend love, it was all about pleasure. He screwed himself over from the beginning.
This also went a lot darker than the comic did. I suppose that was the point. Or maybe it just ‘showed’ things that the comic couldn’t.
Nell has her freedom though now, that’s what matters.
Well at least Niel got free but Gurno is still an idiot. I wonder what Jean would have wished for if he was a bit smarter.
Hope she and melivan get together, he seems nice.
It seems Nell prefers Neil anyway. Weird, but given her experiences nobody can judge her.
As Araceli pointed out during the “I Dream of a Promotion” arc, a genie’s mind works differently than a human’s mind. Nell is aware of what she was before being bottled, and shares Neil’s intellect. She probably knows that Neil isn’t going to take advantage of the situation like Jean did. She won’t skip out of training like Jeanie did and has millennia to find her place in the world.
This is a absolutely AWESOME story. And while it may not BE canon it matches the canon stuff as near as I can remember. Thank you so much for writing this. Is there any place I can go to to see other Jeanie Bottle fan fiction stories?
Go to the top of this page and click on the link to “Filler Arc 2: Fan Takeover”. That will list all the fan fiction posted during CD’s absence.
Glad Genie Neil got a happy ending.
I’m beginning to see why Jean was a better choice for having to grant wishes (I’m just a little into the story, a page or so). Neil’s way to used to trying to figure out what the other person actually wants while Jean just wants to be left alone. Neil will help you do something stupid Jean will punish you for asking.
I mean, look at the wish: Basic Needs Fulfilled. The RIGHT thing to do is to give the idiot a neverending bachelar chow bucket and a water dripper. NEIL actually caring what Jean wanted rather than the idiotic thing he SAID gave him WAY too much.
I’ve finished it. I like it. I have to remind myself that this is fan fiction. And yeah. Jean, as a consumer or granter of wishes is a bit of a jerk. But somehow, is worse as a consumer of wishes, likely ’cause Neil enabled him. As a genie, no one enabled him. Anyway, that’s my super-shallow thought.
