Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
A former Genie Lord, Kazom is a 3000+ year old Genie who exists in the form of a witch familiar while still serving as a genie to a teenage boy in California.
A junior engineer working for a small engineering firm in Cocoa Beach. The firm focuses mostly on NASA projects.
Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
First panel reads much better (imho) with “ALTHOUGH you cannot remember…” instead of “AS you cannot remember…”
Dunno if there’s room for such a change, nor whether that exceeds the scope of your authorized powers.
I thought about making that change, but using “As” sortof implies that Kazom thinks Jeanie’s inability to remember being possessed *at all* proves that memories of her time under his control have simple been locked away, rather than erased. If the Blue Djinn had simply erased those memories, Jeanie would likely have tangential memories that surround and are associated with her possession time.
TL;DR Since Kazom is a powerful and experienced genie, he may recognize the difference between memory locking and memory erasure in a genie.
Jean this might help restore your reputation after helping the Blue Djinn almost taking over the entire genie world this is your responsibility to help fix this mess.
I mean, she didn’t help him in any conscious or intentional way. Though since you’re talking about her *reputation*, that *is* probably what most other genies *think* she did.
More like “Have no idea what the warnings *meant*.” The entirety of the “warnings about Blue” that she received was a note that said “Beware the Blue Djinn.”
She had absolutely no idea who or what the Blue Djinn even was until after he’d possessed her against her will and taken full control of her body.
This explains why they were observing Rouyaa back in the 1960s.
Ok, wild theory time: Guano took the Eye from Blue back when he first defeated him, without even realizing what it actually was. Either he still has it, or has given it to someone, unaware of its true value.
You’re right. I sort of presumed that Rouyaa would be rescued after the Blue Djinn’s defeat, but Blue was the only one who knew where Rouyaa was imprisoned. She’s probably still in that bottle.
Which raises an interesting question. Without her genie powers and without her bottle, isn’t she mortal? How long can a tiny mortal live in a sealed bottle before suffocating?
Well, they CAN travel back in time to rescue her in time. But I sort of suspect that Blue Djinn though about it and ensured she will survive longer than she wants to.
I assumed that, being restored to a younger self, she would be a genie again. So as soon as she got out of the bottle, she’d be able to do magic.
As for getting out of the bottle, if she could tip it over, it wouldn’t be hard to roll it over to the edge of the table. Then, with a little luck and/or a hard floor, she’d be out.
Yes, but AFTER THAT, the Blue Djinn restored both her magic and her memories, then locked her in a wine bottle and left. We never found out what happened to her after that.
Same way you can restore computer files from a backup. Doing so doesn’t erase the backup; you can have mutiple copies. The box has the backup copy that Haji kept.
I’m basing this on the fact that Rouyaa seemed to know and understand what was going on, again, when last we saw her.
I disagree. She always remembered that she’d been a genie and had a master and that he was an astronaut (page 396), she just didn’t remember his name. Nor did anyone that knew her as a genie remember her (namely Andy and Sid).
This box of memories contains what was stolen from Rouyaa when Haji declared her to have violated his law about aiding the Space Race. So that means it includes Andy’s identity, and everything else she knew about him.
Well at least it’s an info dump during a quiet moment, where one would expect an info dump to be. I stopped reading Collar 6 because they had a wall-of-text exposition dump for several pages during what was SUPPOSED to be an awesome fight scene. Combat banter turned into exposition broken up occasionally by a half-assed swing at each other and I swear the text took up 90% of each page. It got boring.
I personally hate making info dump comics. If I wanted to read a crap load of information, I’d pick up a book. BUT sometime it’s a balance of getting the info out vs making a dozen boring comics just to explain things. And since this comic only releases once a week, I doubt many fans would hang around for 6-12 weeks just to get the info out when it can be done in one or two comics.
Oh absolutely. And a good writer can explain what they need to BEFORE it becomes relevant to the plot, and I think you’ve done a great job of that, CD. The occasional one to two pages of exposition to fill in gaps or explain something important is by no means a bad thing. And you’re not doing it during what’s supposed to be an action scene, so, bonus points lol
Jeanie was never one to read the “Care and Feeding of Genies manual,” She is like a lot of men I know. Try, try again and then if you don’t succeed, read the instruction manual.
Well Jean Kazom may not always care but it’s serious when he does all this for safeguarding the future of all kind on the planet.
*tosses a coin in the air* Heads, they do it. Tails, they don’t.
(The coin transforms into butterfly and fly away)
DAGNABBIT!! Now we’ll never know what they’ll do next.

True. Jeanie was just the only genie dumb enough to ignore the warnings about Blue.
Can I be honest – I hope this becomes permanent.
Finally Rouyaa’s storyline is going to be addressed. Not to mention she doesn’t deserve her current imprisonment.
This explains why they were observing Rouyaa back in the 1960s.
Ok, wild theory time: Guano took the Eye from Blue back when he first defeated him, without even realizing what it actually was. Either he still has it, or has given it to someone, unaware of its true value.
Intriguing theory!

Haji took away her magic and her memories. Maybe her magic is in that box, too. (Pages 391 and 392.)
Yes, but AFTER THAT, the Blue Djinn restored both her magic and her memories, then locked her in a wine bottle and left. We never found out what happened to her after that.
If Blue restored her memories, what’s in the box?

dun DUN!
Oops, sorry, wrong fandom.
If Jeannie gets Rouyaa’s memories will she think she is in love with Andy?
Rouyaa doesn’t remember Andy’s identity, just that she loved him and still does.
Which mean Jeanie will likely mix Andy with Neil. Oh boy.
This box of memories contains what was stolen from Rouyaa when Haji declared her to have violated his law about aiding the Space Race. So that means it includes Andy’s identity, and everything else she knew about him.
Watch out for the speech balloons! Duck your heads!
Haha, yeah. Dealing with all this dialog was a challenge, lol.
“Don’t worry, Jeanie. With a body like that, you’re sure to catch the Eye of Solomon.”
And every other male in his court…
Hm. So Jeannie is about to become a Trill. Wonder if she’ll get neck spots? 😉
and here I was hopeing they would actually bring back Rouyaa.
That could still happen. The Blue Djinn restored her to. her old self, so we have yet to see what became of her.
If Jeanie gets Rouyaa’s memories she will develope a crush on Andy and then time travel again to meet him. What could possibly go wrong.
It might explain that random image of Jeanie and Neil in the past.

It was planned all along!
I completly forgot about that one.
Has anyone else noticed a similarity in the looks Neil and Jeanie are giving each other in the last panel?
Can you say Laurel and Hardy?

This is thankfully a lot more concise lol

so after all this time she still don’t know how to be a genie?
Jeanie was never one to read the “Care and Feeding of Genies manual,” She is like a lot of men I know. Try, try again and then if you don’t succeed, read the instruction manual.
This chapter connects to I Dream in Technicolor because we saw Jean and Neil in the background. So there answer is going to be yes.
She was also your neighbor. She’s concerned. She wants to know if you’re O.K. and give you cookies.
