Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
I thought Jeanie was saying that the person has to tell her all three of their wishes in one go. Now since orange shirt guy is leaving for work, he will make his wishes last after he has seen how the wishes of the other two guys have blown up in their faces.
We’ll see how it actually plays out over the next month.
I think that she is bound by Genie Law to grant wishes to *somebody*, and with the lack of any means of determining which of the trio is the “true Master”, she has decided that it’s easier simply to grant to all of then. Given that she currently has several genies’ worth of magic in her, she cares less about the expenditure of magic than she does about the annoyance of having to deal with them for any longer than she has to.’
Write it all out ahead of time, then make the wish “I wish that which is written on this piece of paper is my first wish.” Be sure to include adverbs and prepositional phrases in your wishes: “immediately” “painlessly” “without me transforming in a way not included in the rest of the text,” are usually important.
Yes, a well-lawyered wish is important for getting what you want from an uncooperative genie. Boss Hogg had the right idea when he decided to figure out his second wish on paper in https://jeaniebottle.com/archives/comic/jeanie-bottle-356
All three wishes have to be made at the same time. Each wish may be written out clearly with no apparent problems, but there may be interactions between the wishes that cause problems.
Besides, she’ll be looking for ways to twist the wishes, and she has a lot more experience than the three boys put together. For that matter, they don’t seem too smart to begin with.
Jean appears to be finally embracing her genie nature. We still don’t know what sort of deal Jean made to escape Haji’s palace, but Lahab did offer – or threaten- behavior modification. Either way it’s a sure bet she doesn’t want to argue with Lord Guano over this.
This puts me in mind of The River of the Dancing Gods series by Jack Chalker. In this series, the longer you stay in a form the more you start to act that way. In one of the books a trucker was turned into a nymph and the more he fought the fairy nature, the more it fought back.
Wow, at the most I expected she would just give each of them one wish. Guy going off to work better hope he doesn’t have a habit of making wishes during the day.
Orange shirt with glasses guy? There is no evidence that he partook; he showed up in https://jeaniebottle.com/archives/comic/jeanie-bottle-694 and didn’t say “dude” that whole strip, despite having one third of the word count of that strip.
It would be MORE surprising, and interesting, if she didn’t purposely screw up their wishes in utterly vindictive ways. And actually granted them the way they intend them to be grant. And any backfires would be due to ‘reality ensues’ rather than intentional misinterpretation (I never understood how that was supposed to be clever, a five year old can pull the ‘Mommy what does Y-E-S, spell?’ “Yes.” “Daddy can I have ice cream, mommy said yes.” routine.) and Jean decides to just give them wishes in a legit manner. Would be interesting to see these dorks granted their wishes and see how far they take them.
That would be one of the following, Araceli-already connected to Calley, Rouyaa, nice to see her again,–Jehane, we still don’t know what happened to her, I hope she ended up in a swamp with Bucktooth Willie, that would make a good story, Alya–I wouldn’t wish that onto that girl, Oh lord NO, it would be Shula.
I have to agree with your last comment… imagine having Shula as your genie? As for Jehane… isn’t there an empty totem lying about? They did strip her of her genie powers, after all.
All right:
1. I wish when I snap my fingers and intend to, I get a mental map to every Genie bottle within 5 miles.
2. I wish that when I am buying something and intend to, sticking my hand in my pocket will find exact change, in correct currency, and not be forgeries or authority-marked bills. Amounts larger than $1k will give $1k at a time until the amount has been withdrawn.
3. Thinking about it and flaring my nostrils will teleport me, and any items I desire, in their reletive positions, safely to where I want, and i must have been there before, and if a space is too small or would cause overlap with other people/objects, I appear in the nearest space, air is moved out of the way, and liquids and solids are not.
In honor of Red, Natalie and Agent Anderson, Orange shirt dude comes back at lunch and whishes–I wish the other two were hot, oversexed beautiful girls. Considering Jeanie’s track record, that would be an easy one to grant.
Really? He’s going to go to work first? With 3 wishes at your disposal, I think you could take a sick day!
It will be fun to see how Jeanie plays with the wishes. I’m not sure if she’s clever enough to outwit someone determined to come up with good wishes, but these three don’t seem to be mental giants.
I do wonder what the 3rd roommate will see when he gets home for lunch. With six chances to screw things up it could be pretty interesting. Will this lead to Neil finally getting his own place?
I think that he is using going to work as an excuse to give himself a few hours to think about what he be wants to wish for. That is probably a smart move.
So, each guy does there wish but can’t make another until all 3 makes there first that’s fair.

He might have to use at least one of his wishes to rescue his friends from their predicaments.
I wonder why she didn’t just wipe their memories and send them on their way.
Can she do that? Especially since they possessed her bottle and thus became (at least temporarily) her masters. Presumably.

Lord Guano: I have to admit, I did NOT expect that to occur. I guess Jeannie is more cunning than i originally thought.
Kazom: This will be fun to watch. (Purrs)
So… that’s 9 wishes in total? But they have to give all 3 at the same time for each individual. Alright
Considering that they made what must be the worst first impression on a genie since Ali Baba Bunny, she’s being incredibly tolerant.
Lunch guy gets credit for giving himself thinking time. Wonder if he’ll use it wisely.
Three wishes each from an angry, sneaky genie with a bad sense of humor; what could possibly go wrong?

Or you could wish not to be late, to be rich enough to never work again, to have a turkey sandwich, and get all three done right now?
I hear that the turkey’s a little dry. Go with the pastrami instead.

When you grant them, make sure to remember that ironic twist.

If you intend the wishes to be payment, you want to give them only one to minimize payment.
If you intend the wishes to screw them over, you want to give them a whole bunch so they have plenty of rope with which to hang themselves.
Getting high before work? Dude, not cool. You save that for your days off.

what is the chance that one of them wishes for their own genie and causes mayhem for one of the others?
That might fall under the “can’t wish for (more) wishes” rule.
Both his friends suddenly find themselves holding empty bottle totems
That would be one of the following, Araceli-already connected to Calley, Rouyaa, nice to see her again,–Jehane, we still don’t know what happened to her, I hope she ended up in a swamp with Bucktooth Willie, that would make a good story, Alya–I wouldn’t wish that onto that girl, Oh lord NO, it would be Shula.

If any of them wish for great power and long life, like in the X-Files, they may find themselves becoming new genies.
That’s surprisingly generous of Jeanie.
I am going in fully expecting the two stoners to just screw themselves over with bad wishes though…
Each of them should wish to play a musical instrument (guitar / keyboard / drums) so they can start a band!
Jeanie and The Rolling Stoners?
LOL

That sounds a lot like Jean’s wish on his island, last arc.
Yes, and remember what happened to him in the end.
Part 3 is going to get your butt teleported into a volcano after watching Pompeii on the History Channel.

” Will this lead to Neil finally getting his own place?”
Complete with his own harem

Not one each? O.K.
