Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
Apparently, she poof-ed herself back into herself at the appropriate moment, and is now going to “fix it.”
Since Jeanie remembers this night as the one where Jean lost his virginity, presumably there will be more than “talking” going on. My guesses are that it will be (1) off screen and (2) not actually real, regardless of what he believes at the time. (More) alcohol might be involved.
Jean doesn’t have to actually have sex with Jeanie as long as he (and enough of the people he brags to about it) believe that he did. Getting him drunk enough to pass out could help that.
what ever happens, happens off screen and Jeanie basically get Jean bombed out of his gourd where he doesn’t remember anything at all and/or drop the morning after pill into his drink. It a pill that some guys use on girls so that they won’t remember that they had sex with them and they can keep from getting into trouble for doing something that there not suppose to do.
Odd, I’ve only ever heard of that pill (actually, anything used for that purpose) as the “date-rape drug”. And I’ve only heard of the “Morning-After Pill” as slang for the abortifacient RU-486 or for more recent emergency contraceptives.
Yeah, Larry’s gotten two different pills confused here. The pill a shady guy drops into a girl’s drink so he can rape her without consequence is called a “roofie”, or more scientifically, Rohypnol. The “morning after pill” is a pill a woman takes the morning after she had unprotected sex, which prevents pregnancy from occurring.
Or, you know, Jean could use MAGIC to fake it. Considering some of the things Jean’s done over the series she has a lot of options so that she’s doesn’t nail herself (clone, memory altering, etc.)
(I was gonna use the word for doing it with yourself but that felt inappropriate to actually write, somehow)
I think the same thing too. Is it possible we would see Rodge with Natalie when Jeanie returns. Or maybe Natalie hooks up with Danny? I wonder if Jeanie poofed before Natalie made the comment. Oh the possibilities.
I am guessing Jean will turn him down gently this time. I will say that i don’t blame her for being blunt last time, some times blunt is the only way they understand.
Wait, if following the rules of the previous time travel, shouldn’t be TWO Jeanies at that exact point: the one who was about to reject Jean, and the one who wants to fix the situation?
No.
The Jeanie that was there to reject Jean is now in a different time line that leads to Natalie having to live through x years to reach the present.
This is the original (or new alternative) time line where there is still only one Jeanie.
@Fordain
There was a Jeannie being led to the door, but it is when this Jeannie popped back from the alternate future that the timeline split apart. The original Jeannie contined on in the alternate time line to where she would throw up.
The Jeannie that took her place is the one in this new alternate time line. It all happens instantaneously and thee is no need for multiple Jeannies to exist.
That’s what I would have thought, and so I’d have had Jeanie poof in as earlier-Jeanie poofed out, leaving only the poof itself for Jeanie to handwave away, assuming anyone noticed the poof. Perhaps the rules are different if a genie time travels to a time when that genie already exists, but I wouldn’t be sure Jeanie knew it would happen this way.
This is one of those cases where it’s better to not think about it. Jeanie is currently the most powerful Genie in the world, and seemingly, one of her powers is not only to time travel, but to take over her exact place in time, at any point in the timeline.
So Jeanie is on this case with Jean, right??? And then I already thought that this case did not happen after all. Hopefully the chances are very good here (for now) that the fun in bed will continue.
If this works and Jeanie actually corrects the timeline, adult-Natalie is going to cease to exist. I wonder how CD is going to show it… a smoky poof? An Avengers style disintegration? Or will it simply be ignored and left to the imagination?
Actually, he doesn’t have to show any of that stuff at all, because, that alternate time line never exited in the original time line. It will just disappear back into the ethosphere like it never exited.
It is kind of odd that you have Jeanie having to do two different and opposing thing that can’t both have to happen and they cause, two different results to the time line that counter-dict each other in the same time slot at the hotel room door. If she does what she doing now, then she erases what she did before she did it, this is what known as the classical paradox. If we go with two time lines, then we can erase one of the time lines here and save the one we want, which will erase Natalie too, because, she in that time line too.
Actually, what I think we are going to be getting here is: “SILENCE HERE” and go on like there isn’t a problem here.
That does seem to be what she’s done. And we know she’s probably the most powerful genie in existence, so it’s not really all that unbelievable, either.
It depends on who Jeanie remembers doing IT with after prom. If she remembers a blonde then she has to do it to reset the timeline. If she remembers a redhead then she will poof Rita into the bedroom who will already be plastered from being kicked out of prom and she will do the deed. That way Jean can brag about doing a threesome that night.
Jean has always remembered going to prom with a hot, blond transfer student with a funny name. “Joelle…? Josie…?” “What about Jeannie?” “Maybe… Jewel… Jubilee…?
No, because, if she can do that, then she would not have been able to come back into the past to be Jean date to the prom, which is what set everything into motion for the time line to processed the way that we remember it being.
Like: “THERE NOTHING TO SEE HERE FOLKS”!!!! If Jean doesn’t turn into a Genie called Jeanie then there no Jeanie Bottle series, like keep moving on to some place else!
Yeah, Larry’s right, here. It’s actually been established, early on, that nothing Jeanie does can prevent her from becoming a genie. But I think that may be the sole limitation to her power, now. Which is s scary thought.
Except she technically already has done something to prevent herself from becoming a genie, when she changed the timeline and Jean became a late night radio DJ
I mean, sure, she’s literally fixing that currently, but the change to the timeline still happened
It seems to me that Jeanie has become so powerful that she will still exist even if she changes history so that she doesn’t
This means that we can get Jeanie AND Jean existing in the present simultaneously, I highly doubt that’s the direction the comic will go, but it seems possible at this point
Her actions didn’t un-geniefy Jeanie, though, which was the relevant aspect of Jeanie not being able to prevent herself from becoming a genie. It apparently created a whole new timeline separate from the one that Jeanie’s originally from.
Back in JB138, Kazom explained to Jeanie that she’d lost her body as an unpredictable side effect of trying to force a human’s will–in this case, the cheerleader who Jeannie thought was Holly, Melvin’s crush. Trying to use the magic Jeannie has now on her 18-years-old-still-male-self should, therefore, go pear-shaped in some unpredictable way–but to to serve the story, whatever way it is.
Lahab (Labab?), Haji’s First, told Jeanie in JB602 that her hatred of Guano was “not above our ability to fix” which might mean a genie’s will can be forced. That just might provide a loophole for CD to the “no messing with human minds with magic” to squeeze through.
When proposed my ideal solution a few posts ago, I also saw it as a more practical solution. If you’ll actually go read through the Timey Wimey chapter at Sailormoon, you can see that random shifts in a timeline can go on endlessly (Bay becomes a superstar; Bay becomes a partner to a lesbian friend; Bay discovers Auction Guy has changed into a woman; Bay finds she’s married with three kids; etc.). So does CD want this chapter to go on for months more? Years more? Or does he want to wind it up and go somewhere else. The final chapter of Sailormoon.org went on for hundreds of comics and years of of real time.
Not that I’m against lots and lots of alternate timeline hijinks. I was a big fan of Sliders before it slid right out out of our timeline.
@Tom:“not above our ability to fix” which might mean a genie’s will can be forced.
I don’t think this would have been a matter of forcing Jeanie’s will, it may have been more like what Jeanie did to Natalie with the hormone thing… this is just a theory but if you are crazy horny from hormones run amok, inhibitions go by the wayside.
Well, she could tell him that they are really “Cousins”—and Jean might not want to have sex with her.—-but still could keep his bragging rights with his peers, as he WAS seen going into his hotel room with her.
Or she could say she is in a closeted relationship with Natalie, and if Jean wanted to say they “did it” she wouldn’t object. But Jean might ask if he could waitch or join in.
Jeanie is the definition of selfish. So she’d never think of it. But at least in the new timeline, all those genies weren’t murdered by the Blue Dijinn.
They needed to use the full power of the most powerful magic artifact in the world to trigger a body swap (back in the Blue Djinn story), so probably no.
What Jeanie just did here is potentially create a split timeline. Prime timeline plays out as it was supposed to, while the split timeline has a version of Neil trapped as Natalie forever now >.>;;
Story aside, that is a fantastic job with the art work for Jeanie’s dress. Just getting the direction of the light source right and the flash of the sequins don’t need to be exactly placed. Really makes the panels pop.
Natalie’s motive is less “don’t get noticed at all” and more “don’t change any relationships or events from what she remembers”. People looking at her and thinking that she’s hot is fine. Guys dumping their girlfriends because they want to pursue her is not.
Or not… what’s to say that dumping their girlfriend for a hot brunette isn’t what actually happened?
Just remember what Scotty said when giving Dr. Nichols the formula for transparent aluminum… and Mcoy called him out on it. “Why? How do we know he didn’t invent the thing?”
Easy give Jean a pep talk that will make his future right on track with being friend with Neil. Also wonder how Natalie at prom with David is doing.
to answer Robert’s question, Jeanie’s gonna fix the mess she made.. I hope.

It referred to as the Morning after pill.
Odd, I’ve only ever heard of that pill (actually, anything used for that purpose) as the “date-rape drug”. And I’ve only heard of the “Morning-After Pill” as slang for the abortifacient RU-486 or for more recent emergency contraceptives.

Apparently, if Jeanie goes back to a time when she’s already there as Jeanie, this is allowed/required.
What happens to the Past-Jeanie who would have been there? Absorbed into the older, more experienced, Jeanie persona?
Or, you know, Jean could use MAGIC to fake it. Considering some of the things Jean’s done over the series she has a lot of options so that she’s doesn’t nail herself (clone, memory altering, etc.)
(I was gonna use the word for doing it with yourself but that felt inappropriate to actually write, somehow)
Jeanie is 100% going to forget Neil again.
Or just as blunt but without witnesses.
Wait, if following the rules of the previous time travel, shouldn’t be TWO Jeanies at that exact point: the one who was about to reject Jean, and the one who wants to fix the situation?
No.

Before or after?
Is Jeanne scum saving reality? Can she now just go back after making a choice and make a different one? That’s seriously powerful…
Hm… I wonder if this means the other genies killed by blue would have survived in the alternate time line.
I suspect the problem with Blue was WORSE without Jeannie.
That does seem to be what she’s done. And we know she’s probably the most powerful genie in existence, so it’s not really all that unbelievable, either.

Yup, It looks like it is up to Jeanie to FIX IT.
If Jeannie and Jean do do it, wouldn’t that just be a really complicated way to masturbate?
(Sorry, had to be said.)
And why does the dateline show this page as modified four days before it was posted?
Read “All You Zombies” by Robert Heinlein and “The Man Who Folded Himself” by David Gerrold.
“All You Zombies” is my absolute favorite Heinlein short.
But my question was serious—those timestamps are normally server-generated.
get himself drunk and let him wake in morning thinking he lost his virginity
I wonder if there’s a way for Jeanie to fix all this that won’t end up with Jean getting turned into a genie in the future.
No, because, if she can do that, then she would not have been able to come back into the past to be Jean date to the prom, which is what set everything into motion for the time line to processed the way that we remember it being.

Only time will tell. 🙂
I see what you’ve done there.
@Tom: “not above our ability to fix” which might mean a genie’s will can be forced.

Haha, now that is an angle I don’t think anyone else has come up with. I love your creativeness! 🙂
Well, if they did do the naughty, it would basically be a very unique form of masturbation.
Been done. Ever read Heinlein’s “All You Zombies?”
Jeanie is the definition of selfish. So she’d never think of it. But at least in the new timeline, all those genies weren’t murdered by the Blue Dijinn.
At best, Blue would still be lurking around trying to find a host/sucker.
Coulg Jeanie swap bodies with Jean. He could still say her lost it after prom.
They needed to use the full power of the most powerful magic artifact in the world to trigger a body swap (back in the Blue Djinn story), so probably no.

first time didn’t post, sorry. No girl that looks like Natalie could ever possibly be LOW profile.
Natalie’s motive is less “don’t get noticed at all” and more “don’t change any relationships or events from what she remembers”. People looking at her and thinking that she’s hot is fine. Guys dumping their girlfriends because they want to pursue her is not.

Oh, dear. Good conversations don’t start out like that.
