Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
Right my bad how do you think she would take the idea of divorce cause this marriage is not gonna work well when Bell finds out he is married to his boss? Becareful if she says when do I get grandchildren?
Oh, yes! The mother in law that want’s grand baby! I can see it now! All hell going to break lose, if they try to get Jeanie pregnant so that she can have her grand baby!
I can see where this discussion is going to go with this women and it not going to be pretty either!
I’m not so sure that’s the mother-in-law, she looks a lot younger than Lord Guano. Maybe, she was engaged to Lord Guano by her parents and is just over joyed to be free of that unwanted burden.
Looks in the Genie Realm. Somebody can thousands of years old and still look like a teenager that not even out of high school yet. I think it must be all that Genie Cream that they use, it keep them looking like there very young.
@Alastir That’s funny if only because all three are side effects of getting things we want! (In our world. Jeanie did not want her marriage, of course.)
Serious note – regardless of what you think of Guano, good on him for willing to sacrifice everything to stop the Blue Djinn. Dude gained a bit of respect from me in the last chapter.
Guano get’s credit for stopping the Blue Djinn the first time, but it’s never been explained how he did it. Plus, when we saw the young Guano back in I Dream of Technicolor, he came off as a doofus compared to Rouyah. And Kazom blames Guano for what happened to him and Melvin’s dad.
At least in my headcanon, Guano got to be a genie-lord as a convenience. For some reason Haji decided to make Guano a hero and remove Kazom from power.
Although it never been explained to us how Guano took out the Blue Djinn. We do know that Guano was once a disciple of the Blue Djinn and they were having training session Guano took the Blue Djinn down. Back then Guano was of kind a Gilligan type person, a bungling fool that messes everything up. Guano had a Gilligan type screw up and after the CRASH, BOOM, CRUNCH, Gilligan moment, Guano was the only one still standing. That is why he got the credit for taking the Blue Djinn down. When all this was happening Guano closed his eye and could not see what was happening. That why he doesn’t remember anything.
@Larry: Did you come up with “Gilligan” out of the blue? Because Bob Denver, the original Gilligan, did play a bumbling genie on one IDOJ episode, and I suspect that’s the inspiration for the young Guano’s appearance in I Dream of Technicolor.
Somebody said something about Bob Denver played a bumbling genie on the IDOJ a few weeks ago which be in keeping with the way CD Rudd does thing
Also, the Blue Djinn tell us that Guano was one of his disciple and they were having a training session when the big even happened. In I dream of Technicolor Guano kind of look like and acts like a Gilligan too. This explanation also fit everything that we know together very nicely, so I am going with this being what happened.
Technically, there are no orphanages in the US, but not everyone manages to find a foster family, especially the older kids (teenagers). Usually they end up living in a hospital, though. Maybe he was left at an animal shelter 🙂 Those are kind of orphanages.
Jeanie also called Baby Blue “it”. Pretty sure she just saw the baby being dropped off somewhere, and assumed the place was an orphanage, since the whole “unwanted baby dropped off at an orphanage” is a movie trope she’d be familiar with.
Actually, there are many hospitals and fire stations that accept “drop offs” without question, some even anomalously. It wouldn’t be too hard to imagine Jean equating that as an orphanage, and Jeanie’s feminine compassion isn’t quite there yet.
But this now sets the stage for an interesting Back to the Future episode. Capri is all grown up (Capri is a deep sky blue and the color of the Mediterranean sea.) and has had a normal life as an adoptee. However, she has always wondered about the meaning of her unique scar and goes looking for her birth mother. Jeanie was obligated to leave some sort of personal information (and wasn’t all too original about it) and inadvertently left Neil’s address making it possible for Capri to eventually track him down. Neil has aged, and Capri mistakes him for her father and Jeanie as her twin sister (since she hasn’t aged significantly).
As someone said earlier… Lucy, you got some ‘splainin’ to do.
oh lots of future things here – baby blue grows up and starts looking for who left her in a foster home and seeks out Jean/Mom for revenge human style. Ba ha ha aha
That’s what I was assuming, too. Except that why should a genie’s physical form have anything to do with her ability to sire children? So I’m looking forward to figuring out what the deal is.
Yes, there are all kinds of possibilities here. Jeanie could be a mother and not know it. There still the possibility of finding some way to annul the marriage and/or the magical baby. How don’t know. Guano may not want the responsibilities of either having a child or having a child with Jeanie as his mate. He could be trying to both off load both Jeanie and baby problem off onto Neil too. There are all kinds of ways that this story could twist and turn. This too would be in keeping with the IDOJ series, but, coming through the back door to get Jeanie and Neil together, like in the series.
We will just have to wait and see how this will finally turn out and currently nothing is set in stone yet as to what going happen.
I was just thinking about Jehane last night. I’m hoping that Jeanie remembers her, and then feels the first bout of remorse in her life, and goes out to find Jehane and un-banish her.
Actually, it was technically the Blue Djinn that did it while he was in control of Jeanie body. But, it would be a nice thing for Jeanie to either remember what happen to Jehane or someone to tell Jeanie what happened to her and/or remind her and some feeling for her or remorse to straighten this thing out. It will be a new first for Jeanie to do and go along the way of remolding her character as a person.
does anyone know whatever happened to Bucktooth Willie? I would love to see him fishing in the swamp for catfish and find Jehane’s bottle floating by. I Dream of Jeanie meets Duck Dynasty.
Should there be a fan-comic of the events after Hacnimitsu-Ink’s fan-comic, “I Dream of Another Jeanie Bottle”? You know, while Anne and Crystal were summoned looking for their missing master?
For the most part, I agree with Mike, there a girl down there and not a guy down there. No, Jeanie not going to be Bringing up the fact that she use to be a guy.
Jean i bet your you that is your future mother in law?
Future? I think you mean current. 🙂
Right my bad how do you think she would take the idea of divorce cause this marriage is not gonna work well when Bell finds out he is married to his boss? Becareful if she says when do I get grandchildren?

if that’s the mother-in-law, I’d file for divorce and restraining order, Right Now.
I’m not so sure that’s the mother-in-law, she looks a lot younger than Lord Guano. Maybe, she was engaged to Lord Guano by her parents and is just over joyed to be free of that unwanted burden.
Nah, she’s got those smile lines around her mouth, which CD uses to denote older characters. She’s definitely older than Guano.
Looks in the Genie Realm. Somebody can thousands of years old and still look like a teenager that not even out of high school yet. I think it must be all that Genie Cream that they use, it keep them looking like there very young.
Oh the mother-in-law.
Ye know we have a saying in my country.
There is only three things that comes on their own, mother-in-law, taxes and debt.
I know it doesn’t mean much, but CD ca

This the best guess as to what happened.

Leaving the Blue Djinn in an orphanage seems like sending trouble to the future.
“My eyes are up here.”
Let’s be honest… Jean wouldn’t think of actually saying that, since he would have always ignored it when said by other women back when he was a dude.
That’s not the Guano’s mother, because she is calling for his mother, who is off camera in the last panel.
She is calling for his father. Jeanie is going to experience for the first time the true horror it is to meet the in-laws.
Barbara Eden (Barbara Jean Morehead) was born in Tucson, Arizona. Nice connection there.
Ahhh, I was wondering if there was a reason that CD chose Arizona for that orphanage. That would certainly make sense.
One tiny little art thing, the blue pillow on the right side of the window disappeared, in panel 3.
Fixed. 🙂
Are orphanages still a thing in America? Good grief, even my backwards ass country replaced them with a home foster care system ages ago.

Ah nothing like meeting the family. They always know what to say. XD
…I’m starting to see why Guano is how he is…
Mom is looking at Jean’s tummy, Looking for a belly bump. We still have hope because we don’t know what happened to the little sparkly thingie.
I think that the “yes . . . yes . . . yes” is because she sees that Jean has nice “childbearing hips” that will give her lots of grandchildren.
That’s what I was assuming, too. Except that why should a genie’s physical form have anything to do with her ability to sire children? So I’m looking forward to figuring out what the deal is.
Or perhaps she senses that Jean is already with “magical” child but Jean doesn’t know it.

You know in some weird way I’m happy for Jean too…
I hope the other jeannie is okay. The one who got the blame for the theft. I’d really like to see her again.
If they are repairing Blue’s damage, then perhaps she has been reinstated.
I was just thinking about Jehane last night. I’m hoping that Jeanie remembers her, and then feels the first bout of remorse in her life, and goes out to find Jehane and un-banish her.

nope she is still wearing the restriction gauntlets
does anyone know whatever happened to Bucktooth Willie? I would love to see him fishing in the swamp for catfish and find Jehane’s bottle floating by. I Dream of Jeanie meets Duck Dynasty.
Nope, we haven’t heard anything about him since Jeanie mentioned buying that hooch from him that ended up being genie-poison.
Jean’s callous use of the word ‘it’ is genuinely disturbing.
To be fair, Jeanie’s use of language there might be more intentional than callous. She has really good reason to hate that being.
Marriage…no wedding?
That’s what the Hubun Jadid oath was all about. Would still like a translation.
I think this using the Hubun Jadid is kind of like eloping Genie style. No formal Ceremony or anything like that, you just do it.
poor Jean meeting the mother in law.
when Mom and Dad show up will we find out how Guano got his name?
I don’t know who this new girl is but I like her already.
I’m pretty sure that’s Jeanie’s mother-in-law, courtesy of Blue’s shotgun bonding with Guano. Atawin must be his father.
Should there be a fan-comic of the events after Hacnimitsu-Ink’s fan-comic, “I Dream of Another Jeanie Bottle”? You know, while Anne and Crystal were summoned looking for their missing master?
How could they do that? Country music from early 2000s was quite clear – there IS no Arizona!
…so is Jean EVER gonna say she used to be male?
I doubt it. As I mentioned earlier, Jeanie is becoming more and more female and at this point may not consciously remember.
For the most part, I agree with Mike, there a girl down there and not a guy down there. No, Jeanie not going to be Bringing up the fact that she use to be a guy.
Please note the leg positions.
Ayla is sitting in the legs closed feminine mode while Genie is still man spreading her legs. Not quite female habits yet.
@Richdd Good point, which I didn’t think of. Still, I doubt that Jeanie is going to mention that she was ever a male.
awh that would be fun to watch Guano’s mom go postal
In Jeanie land, the old saying goes, “when it rains, it pores.”
