Chapter: Story 13: I Dream of Separation
And here we see the beginning of the second storyline for this particular chapter. What will become of Jeanie, in the wake of the Blue Djinn’s rampage?
Well Jean life decisions from the past are catching up to you to bad you may not get a lawyer in this case cause its a coucil decision I guess.
Now it’s Pitt of the DAWNED?
Whoops.
I’m more concerned about “Pitt” rather than “Pit.”
At least they are acknowledging that Jeanie is not personally culpable for the acts of the Blue Djinn. Is there a way to remove the magic from Blue’s victims from her? If so, then that might make for partial restitution. . .
I have the feeling the answer is NO, and that is part of the quandary the Council is facing, she is now more powerful than any of them.
That’s something that I’m wondering, too. And considering that the ghosts of those genies apparently haunt Jeanie, they seem not to be completely gone. There might be something that can be done with that.
Maybe Jeanie will get multiple personalities like Seko in the 2018 24-hour comic?
As usual, genies trying to eff over Jean.
I’ll never understand how they can be so disgusting.
Their concerns are valid. Jean is apparently now crazy powerful, but we the readers have seen that Jean is also capable of being an impulsive jerkass too. And they haven’t seen Jean’s good side like we the reader have either, all they have seen is the disrespectful, impulsive, jerk who is now a god. They have her in power restraints for now, but there is a valid discussion to have about whether it is right to unleash a petty and careless god upon the world where they might not be able to contain her if/when she goes rogue. They are not being disgusting here, they are, for a change, being responsible and having an adult discussion on the matter. They have great power, and with that comes…?
Worse case scenario… one of them decides that in order to save the world from the crazy powerful jerkass that “might” go rogue, it would be a good idea to destroy Jeanie’s bottle, thus ending the debate. Obviously it won’t be a unanimous decision, and they would probably stop him/her because of the ramifications (Guano just might go ballistic since Jeanie is his wife and he seems to have accepted that fact… and he IS next in line to be Haji). The story possibilities after such an aborted assassination are innumerable.
“They are not being disgusting here” THIS is the big thing. It’s not just now – when you consider almost every single time we get a glimpse of genie “culture” the majority are disgusting individuals (even to each other)
@mnmega That’s called political intrigue.
I’m sure Jean will be THRILLED to know about being mated to Guano!
This Blue Djinn mess gets worse and worse all the time…
What? None of them thought of the idea to ask her to give up that stolen magic after she fixes everything?
Maybe it never crossed their minds or it’s unprecedented to them. They’re more in the habit of either bottling up the guilty or locking them up in their own prison. I know already they can drain magic out of other genies but maybe it can’t simply be put into another living genie or in any one totem. Maybe have the magic turned into hubun jadids?
How have they been talking for 80 hours and only now are they coming up with these arguments?
They’ve probably repeated these exact same arguments for the last 80 hours. We know, from our previous visit to Haji’s Palace, that genies aren’t terribly bright.
The fact that they have what is essentially a monarchy is not helping, they need Haji to shit or get off the pot. Haji ought to have taken a decision on that “mating” thing at very least. In lieu of a decision from the boss, all they can do is talk.
From what we’ve seen, male genies don’t seem particularly bright.
Kazom isn’t that bad. Maybe Haji is similar and waiting to actually meet Jeanie and assess the situation before making a decision.
This seems like the perfect opportunity for Jean to point out that he never wanted to be a genie anyway, and if they could take away his magic, turn him back into a guy, and give him his life back, that’d be swell and they won’t have to worry about dealing with an abnormally powerful genie married to Lord Batshit anymore.
Providing that they’ll actually hear Jean out. They’ll do a better job at ordering others around and making surface assumptions than listening.
the female genie lord looks sick and tired of being sick and tired.
Ah, politics. Lets hope it doesn’t have some sort of menace, possibly of a phantasmal quality, behind it.
Speaking of the Blue Djinn, how is she different from Blue Genies, as mentioned by Kazom here:
https://jeaniebottle.com/?comic=jeanie-bottle-161
Blue Djinn was probably born with that look, millennia ago while the others were maybe inspired more recently by the Disney’s Aladdin’s Genie character when they took hold of empty genie totems. Similar to Jean’s case. Though I supposed they are genies having been born looking blue.
The Blue Djinn is an expy from the original I Dream of Jeannie TV show. Blue Genies, as mentioned by Kazom, are new genies created in the same way that our own Jeanie was. But instead of thinking of the ideal genie as being a sexy blonde in harem garb, they were thinking of Robin Williams’ blue genie when they picked up the bottle.
Good thing Blue destroyed all those Totems during his short lived reign of Terror, other wise, there would be a new generation of Blue Will Smith genies running around!
Does anybody else notice the ‘social distancing’ in the second panel? Made me chuckle.
We’ve been talking about this for 80 hours! Can we at least can some chairs?!
Either they have magical gel insoles in their shoes or the floor is a giant fatigue mat. Maybe they’re floating just off the floor.
This is how they prove they are hard core.
Jeanie needs a spokes Genie or find herself up the creek without a bottle
I’m actually rather sad the genies are ‘dead’ dead. I kinda was hoping for some sort of immortality clause or genie ghosts or something.
They think that, but we know that Jeanie is haunted by their ghosts. That gives me hope that something can be done.
If Haji has prolonged his life by stealing magic from younger genies, he’s basically a vampire. On the other hand, if Jeanie really has the souls of those genies lost all their magic when their totems were destroyed, it could mean that genies don’t actually die when they run out of magic.
To be fair the Blue Djin isn’t exactly the most reliable of narrators. On the other hand it’s couldn’t hurt to look into.
@ Tom Sewell… I think there might be a difference between expending all your magic and getting it sucked out forcefully.
Yeah. She can do way better than Lord Guano.
Like Neil.
Have we ever seen Haji?
Not yet. In our previous foray into his palace, it was teased that we’d see him, but he never actually showed up at the genie wedding that Jeanie participated in.
Haji appeared with Barbara Eden as an old bearded white man in the series, but in the 1985 TV Movie, he was played by a handsome, buff black actor.
The Blue Djinn, incidentally, was always played by Michael Ansara, Barbara’s husband during the series.
every time we visit here ARABIAN NIGHTS song from Disney Aladdin go through my head
I hope that before the end of this chapter Jeanie tells Araceli to address her as Aunt Jeanie.
I’d Really like to see more of “I Dream of Another Jeannie Bottle”. And I would like to see a Page 8 of the comic non-animated.
PITT ??? Are we talking about Brad or a hole in the ground or is that the Canadian spelling?
The place is called The Pitt of the Damned. It’s a proper name.
I see the Genie Council operates the same way the Monitors of DC comics do. As summed up by Linkara:
“We should DO something!”
“Should we do something?”
“We should DO something!”
“Should we do something?”
I see comments about how awful genies on the council are to each other. We’ve seen what a jerk Jeanie can be. We’ve seen how strongly she rejects having even a friend for a Master. We’ve seen Blue. i think we’ve got very strong evidence that confining a genie as strong as Jeanie is now claimed to be is NOT irrational.
