I really think at this point the female side of Jean wants to get laid, if he realizes it or not.
Nah, I don’t think it has anything to do with that and everything to do with Jean not thinking things through.
Yeah. I kinda wonder just how far Jean’s gonna wind up going.
Remember, Jeannie tried to get Neil in bed when Jean’s girl friend said he was a better lover than “he” had been…
Yes, this is what I said last week. While I agree it’s that she’s not thinking thing through, that means all these hairbrained plans are being made instinctively, and her instinct does seem to want to get her laid.
Makes me wonder if that will be the tipping point for Jean. If when she does she will finally have to accept that she’s a female forever.
Also $5 says it isn’t rodge.
Actually, Jeanie is thinking more the way a guy thinks and the disconnect that most guy suffer from when it come to having sex with a girl in general and what kind of effect that it will have on women they eventually will marry and what they think of them after they marry a girl. Men that engage in pre-marital sex with women, generally have a lower opinion of there wife than men that don’t as a general rule. Jeanie is still thinking in that context of this issue of the way men think even though she now a girl, so she not thinking on having sex with man or anything like that.
Jeanie is completely detected from reality like she the guy and not the girl.
bossrhino, I agree with you it might put a pretty big dent in her idea of who she is and might push her in that direction, but, it doesn’t mean that is absolutely killed her idea a being a man or going back to being a man. It will only mean that she will think of being a girl more than she use to. Generally the only thing that will kill someone idea of going back to being a guy after become a girl, is to spend 10 to 20 year or even up to a hundred year of being a girl, that will probably convince her that she going to stay a girl and that she not going to be turning back into a guy.
In this series, we are watching her act more girly and less like a guy as time go on, but, we see her exhibiting both male traits and female traits along with her, Female Gene traits of being more a subservient being.
This was my initial thought as well.
Oh, I think Jeanie’s been a girl almost from the start. She’s still running on male assumptions, for the most part, but more and more her female side is pressing for recognition. So is her genie side, which pulls her towards her master. (That’s what she’s really fighting–having a master, and especially having Neil as a master.)
And to a lesser extent, Jeanie is still resisting being a female too. She still not interested in having sex with any men yet, but, she moving in that direction. She gradually losing the battle on both fronts, but, it a slow process. There is still no formal surrender to being being a Gene and a female even though she knows it intellectually.
I get the feeling that’s not Rodge she’s talking to.
That would be the perfect bit of irony.
That’s what I was thinking too.
Yeah, I sense that too…
Setup’s pretty obvious.
i’m thinking rodge is a LITTLE GENRE SAVVY.
I’ll be suprised if it’s NOT Rodge. Not only is he listed in the tags, but… there’s two guys with Rodge/Jean’s blonde brush cut, and Rodge’s pale green shirt? Nuh-uh, don’t believe it. To cap it off, Jeanie’s approaching from the side–she can see enough profile to tell if it’s Rodge or not.
No, Jeanie’s problem is, what’s she going do with her fish if she gets it in her boat?
I doubt she will, though. I think she’s using the wrong bait. If some hot chick, especially one who looked like she might be a high school senior, came on to me with “Hot stuff”, I’d think she was a cop or informant working a prostitution sting.
Admittedly, I’m the one who puts the tags in, and I don’t *know* this is Rodge. I just assumed. CD hasn’t corrected it, though. And you’re right that Jeanie can see enough of this guy’s face to know who it is.
She’s approaching Rodge from behind though.
She’s leaning on the snack table sneeze guard.
Hm. I’m going to make a small bet here and say that Rodge will probably turn her down, still being afraid of Jean’s supposed “jealousy”, a la Neil’s warning. He already turned down one drunk gal.
I also wonder if he might think Jean/Veronica is a prostitute. I can’t imagine Rodge is used to being addressed as “Hot stuff”. Seems a little over the top and way too obvious.
I am curious about Jean’s terminology. “Hussy” is a term that very few men ever use. They’re more likely to use a less-printable word. Seems like Jeannie is gradually adopting a more female outlook.
Art comment: Jeanie looks more like Veronica in the last panel than she has up till now. Something about the pose is very in character–although what she says is not.
I’ve said it before, but to repeat and amplify: Jeanie doesn’t understand that girls are far more attracted to personality and social status than appearance–but she also fails to understand that guys in general want to be the pursuer, not the prey.
How typically self centered of Jeanie to want to get laid by himself. I doubt she’ll succeed with Rodge, though. She’s a genie and she has a master. Deep down, she wants Neil.
Which leads me to wonder what Rodge is going to think about Neil. “Um, listen, ol’ Buddy, you are not, um, taking your girl out for a spin enough. She’s getting, um…”
And if Jeanie does fail to land Rodge, how is she going to feel? Nobody wants to hit on Rodge’s Jean, and her Veronica fails to get through R-dog’s shields. Is Rodge going to have to comfort a weeping “Veronica”?
What will Neil have to cope with when she gets home? Is Jeanie going to start trying to seduce him?
But most important: What’s happening with that review?
Isn’t it obvious? Rodge will wind up writing the review. After all, he actually liked the movie.
And just for the record – women are actually just as strongly attracted by physical appearances as men are – they’re just far less likely to admit it. Every woman I’ve ever met, when told about a guy, first wants to see a picture. The main difference is that appearances aren’t the ONLY thing that’s important.
Men’s primary biological concern is to find women that are suitable for childbearing. Wide hips, hourglass shape and smooth skin are all important factors to that.
Women’s primary biological concern is to find a strong male provider. Appearance also gives clues but in a more subtle way, it have to do with how he carries himself, of whether he is confident and dominating or weak and submissive. Women want an alpha male
But something that is true for both men and women is that lesser men and women are willing to settle for less. A 5 knows that she can never get a 10
“women are actually just as strongly attracted by physical appearances as men are”
Apparently not, according to many studies, and the experience of many males. Girls may be attracted by a good male figure at first glance, and certainly girls enjoy looking, but what really counts in the clinch is status and attitude.
Here’s a data point: count the number of male strip clubs versus female. (That is clubs featuring male v. female strippers.) Also, check out the behavior of the audience in both: Women are much rowdier, and tend to travel in packs–or I should say, in parties; they never go alone, and they are almost always celebrating. It is a joke to them. Men do go in packs–in fact, they often go to transact business, which would not be possible at, say, Chippendales–but many also go alone. And they are much better behaved, at least in my experience. They would get thrown out if they acted like the women at Chip’s. They are not celebrating, and it is not a joke. Whether the girls are just decorative background for the dealing going on at the tables, or the solitary men are on the prowl, it’s deadly serious.
Speaking of strip clubs, see /144736865 on vimeo dot com. If you’ve ever been to a male strip club, you will recognize every single character in this video. (Especially the donkey. Hoo-boy the donkey.) You will never meet their female equivalents at Chip’s. (Video deserves an R rating for, yes, cartoon violence.)
@Alastir
I fail to see how wide hips, hourglass shape and especially smooth skin are important factors to make them more suitable for childbearing.
@Nebbdyr: Wide hips make for easy childbearing. The rest are markers for youth and health.
The differences of men and womens preferences are entirely dependant on what they want the other person for.
No one in their right mind would marry a hot mess but they might have a one night stand with them.
If you want a husband/wife looks are important but not so much if you cant stand their personaliy.
People that have looks and nothing else going for them end up lossing in the relationship game.
You are working on a lot of fake stereotypes there buddy. Since yes, women do go for physical appearances as well and there’s plenty of men that don’t mind being persued.
“Apparently not, according to many studies, and the experience of many males”.
Sexist males, which makes your argument bullshit, no offense. Those are the same type of guys that call a woman a lesbian just because they aren’t interested in them.
So i’m going to go with a woman’s point of you, since obviously they would know more about the subject. Especially since men seem incapable of understanding that women aren’t a hive mind and they all have unique tastes and want different things in a relationship.
Remember, Jean, this motto: don’t start anything you won’t be willing to finish.
“What could possibly go wrong?”™
And then Rodge says “what do you want Jean?”
It’s really Agent Anderson in a really good disguise 🙂
Please be not Rodge, please be not Rodge, please…etc. Or if it is, please let his greeting be “Hi Jeannie”, just because.
On a side note, I’m also wondering if Jennie as Veronica will be recognized as someone who is not a member of the writing/publishing group and be asked to leave. Jeannie as herself was presented as Rodge’s fiance, so she was accepted into the group, but nobody has any connection to Veronica that they are aware of and may think she is crashing their party.
It likely won’t happen though. The reason this occurred to me was in my college days I worked at a country club in the party room and this was something we had to watch out for.
Way back at the beginning of I Dream of Green Eyes Neil said Jeanie’s attempt to turn into man-Jean looked kind of like Jean’s sister, so I guess it’s canon that Jean(ie) has a sister who probably looks quite a lot like him. It’s a very long shot, but it would be so great if this turns out to be Jean’s (somewhat butch) sister…
As always, my favorite part of any of Jeanie’s plans is trying to determine just how it’s going to go wrong, and on whom.
That easy to figure out how the plan could go wrong. Let Jeanie succeed in her plan to seduce Rodge. Which will lead her going straight to bed with Rodge, which she doesn’t want to do. Jeanie is notorious for coming up with plans like this. She doesn’t want to go to bed with Rodge under any circumstances and then she come up with a plan that will put her in his bed if she go all the way through with her plan and she going to have an audience watching her too. Assuming that her plan succeed, she going to be in a mess that she needs to find a way to get out of it.
But, then that Jeanie for you, once she get obsessed with something or want to prove something she will go off half-cocked and do something stupid. She come up with plans that never should see the light of day.
I kind of hope Jean succeeds If it i is with Roger it will prove nothing. Every one knows what Jean is.Jean will be just confirming it.
I’m kind of intrigued on rodge.. we know little about him as a person when it comes to relationships… except that his niece is.. indifferent to him. He tends to day dream and seems unfocused at work yet must be good else he wouldn’t be working there… all this shows Rodge might react very badly in this situation. After all it’s only Jeans face that ‘appears’ to be liked… can Rodge himself ever be loved or liked for who he is? I wonder if he ever considers his self worth or just accepts people don’t seem to like him much…
Or I could be reading too much into it.
She looks like Veronica Lodge from Archie comics…….Not that there’s anything wrong with Ronnie, I’m glad Arch married Betty.
The resemblance to Veronica Lodge is deliberate, if the poll on the right means anything.
Also, I thought Archie Comics actually had two different comic tracks, one where he chose Betty, and one where he chose Veronica.
HAD being the operative word, as I believe both are done now.
Jean…. You suck. o_o
That is pretty much all.
