Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
A junior engineer working for a small engineering firm in Cocoa Beach. The firm focuses mostly on NASA projects.
Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
The problem is the “arbiter” of the rules is probably her uncle which gives her an unfair advantage. I said it earlier on but I really think they need better rules to protect new Genies from this kind of manipulation. Actually any genies if you give up a significant chunk of your power to stay with a specific master out of love another genie shouldn’t be able to try and manipulate things to steal them.
And Araceli is STILL my favorite compared to Jeanie. Her selfishness hasn’t caused NEARLY as much collateral damage. And Araceli is showing the ability to learn to genuinely care about someone, while while Jeanie’s concerns for her girl friend are about their relationship rather than her.
I have to admit I agree with you about that. arceli ftw.
that being said, I wouldn’t want to see either of them unhappy. either a tenchi solution, or arceli as girlfriend and jean as best friend and genie. of course the problem there is that it is too clean and basically ends all tension in the comic
I disagree of the two I far prefer Jeanie. Yes she is somewhat selfish and self-centred but she’s always been honest about that side of herself and she does seem to be slowly growing as a person from this. Araceli on the other hand is not only selfish but also manipulative and cruel. Bear in mind the fact that she is trying to arrange things to not only steal the master of another genie but permanently seal away a brand new genie who FREED her from hundreds of years of imprisonment even if it was by accident.
I suppose that Neil could make a wish that only he could ditch the bottle and that Araceli can’t touch the bottle or use magic on it to take the bottle somewhere else. I wonder if Neil could wish that Jeanie could stop sneezing end her random magic.
Now would be a good time to quiz Araceli of what to do, by asking a lot of question about the matter. Since we all know that she probably won’t give a straight answer if she doesn’t have to give it.
Guano had proven himself to be the cold, assumptional, non-sympathic supervisor, aka a jerk, over the genies he’s responsible for. Even if he knows how to cure Jean’s sneezing, he’ll probably enforce it rather than make an option. Plus, he’ll probably berate Jean on what the random sneeze spells had done. He’s almost a PILL when it comes to his interpersonal skills.
Guano doesn’t want to talk to mortals! He seemed to barely tolerate Neil when they met. Guano *might* tell Araceli serve her new master and leave Neil alone since he has already chosen Jeanie. Or, he might do something totally different. He is (ahem) batshit crazy after all.
I’ve been thinking, since a genies life span is linke dto how much they use their magic, this could eventually become a life threatening condition, by the time it does who knows how much the world would change though
It’s possible, though as was pointed out previously, the only genie we’ve been told about who used enough power to seriously threaten their life was Eva Brawn (Hitler’s wife). Hitler had her use her power on a global scale, which sapped her life force really fast.
These little tiny poofs here and there are probably having a negligible effect on Jeanie’s lifespan.
Araceli doesn’t deserve Neil. She’s a cold-hearted, manipulative sociopath, and Neil’s a good guy who deserves a girlfriend who can also be his friend. And turn him into Natalie on occasion. 🙂
She’s devoted to the kindest master she’s experienced in hundreds of years, she’s been newly freed after being trapped in a bottle for a subset of those hundreds of years, she perceives Jeanie to be selfish and disrespectful to a master she doesn’t want–
By genie rules, Araceli deserves Neil more than Jeanie does.
Neil is master, here, and needs to step up to the role. He needs to listen to Araceli, understand what she’s facing, what she fears. He needs to enlist her help, while making it clear that she won’t be sent back to her bottle at the bottom of the sea.
And, once she stops sneezing, Neil will get Jeanie under control.
Araceli needs to be heard, and reassured.
Jeanie needs to be turned over Neil’s knee and thoroughly spanked, then left in her bottle overnight. Repeat until tender.
Okay, first, we get that you don’t like Araceli for what she is doing. While I understand your view of this, I like to point out that 50srefugee has a fair point on her (Araceli) character.
Yes, she’s being manipulative in how she goes about getting Neal but be honest, if you were in her position, given one ounce of kindness over years of being no better than a tool, wouldn’t you want the kindness over the neglect? Think about it from her perspective, even if you don’t like her for what she’s doing.
Now from her view, Jeanie has done nothing but abuse her powers on Neil (which she has, and we can’t deny that given that she was using him to make sure her girlfriend wouldn’t realize that something was amiss) and Neil is also partly at fault for not stepping in and trying to quell all of the animosity that Araceli is interpreting while Jeanie adds to the fire. Araceli will, of course, be accountable for her actions but I think she doesn’t deserve the animosity that some people have thrown at her.
She’s not cold-blooded or a sociopath. She is a genie who has misinterpreted the situation and she is kind (in her own way). After all, she wants to take care of Caley (her new master) and she also wants to take care of Neil (a former master who showed her kindness). She is acting as manipulative because she is still trying to abide by the rules of the genies and it is possible that she wants to avoid a situation with her Lord Guano (which considering the personality, I would love to avoid personally in her shoes).
So, yes, the situation is not desirable but I agree with 50srefugee and think that Araceli does need to be heard and reassured (and Neil needs to finally get his act together and help solve the problem).
From the “which genie camp” thread:
I don’t like Araceli. Jean(n)ie may be short-sighted, selfish, and (understandably) fighting her fate, but Araceli’s a manipulative, cunning, and altogether evil individual (her willingness to torture Neil – tower of London, her attempt to have Jeannie out of the picture permanently (swapping bottles knowing the bottle was stuck on the bottom of the ocean), and her abuse of Jeannie (threatening her and locking her in her own bottle with that cork) justify calling her evil).
–
Araceli has 0 redeeming values, and I don’t think she’s capable of changing.
1.) We are all entitled to our opinion.
2.) Arguing about this is pointless as the story will show us in the end how these guys are.
3.) We are arguing over nonsense. It’s a story, enjoy it for what it is.
I’d also like to point out before we let it drop that Araceli KNOW’S Jeanie is a brand new genie with no experience beyond this one master and presumably has a fairly decent idea that Jeanie used to be human yet she’s still trying to take advantage of her rather than say work out a mutally beneficial arrangement “I like him too, why don’t we share and I’ll help you adjust to being a genie.” Remember she struck a deal with Guano to get Neil if Jeanie messes up and is actively trying to cause that.
Hmm, Jean going back into the bottle would stop the spread of the magical sneezes, yes but would that cure Jean of ‘his’ sneezes? Maybe genie bottles/lamps can heal their housed genies.
Usually it twice a week, but, some times it once week, depending on the Authors of this comics work schedule. Sometimes he will miss a week. It all depends on when he has time to do it.
Updates are primary once a week. Occasionally if I get the opportunity (like I did this week) to make an extra comic, I may post a 2nd that week. I also make sure there’s some kind of notice so the readers that pop in once a week, knows there was another comic posted.
At least she is finally being honest…..
In he’d defense, she has never really lied about this side of her.
I have to say. I LIKE this new form of Jeanie’s. She should keep it.
I love it too! She looks excellent with Princess Jasmine hair. 🙂
Yeah i like it as well, seems this makes three votes
Im sure Aracelli is breaking some rules with calling him master while her master is someone else
Ohhh, good point. I wonder if that will come back to bite her in the ass? I hope so!
From my perspective? I think she does that as a bit of “wishful thinking” and is along the lines of a “nickname” than being literal.
She wants Neil for herself, yes, but she’ll play the rules in her favor.
The problem is the “arbiter” of the rules is probably her uncle which gives her an unfair advantage. I couldn’t help but laugh at the last panel.
Least Araceli’s being a honest girl. XD

Neil used all three of his wishes though.
Make her give the genie oath not to ever do that. (And maybe not make anyone sing like Caruso, either.)
Doesn’t Lord Guano have a cell phone? He should have given Neil his number.
I’m trying to remember but I can’t recall Neil referring to Jeanie as “her”. I pretty sure I’m wrong but it kinda jumped out at me.
I’ve been thinking, since a genies life span is linke dto how much they use their magic, this could eventually become a life threatening condition, by the time it does who knows how much the world would change though

You know, the best case scenario could be Belle ending up as Jean’s master and Aracely staying with Neil.
Araceli doesn’t deserve Neil. She’s a cold-hearted, manipulative sociopath, and Neil’s a good guy who deserves a girlfriend who can also be his friend. And turn him into Natalie on occasion. 🙂

Jeanie needs to be turned over Neil’s knee and thoroughly spanked, then left in her bottle overnight. Repeat until tender.
And she also intends turn the slightest hiccup in Jeanie’s Master/Genie relationship with Neil into PERMANENT SOLITARY CONFINEMENT. FOREVER.
That is SERIOUSLY fucked up, and she will never get an ounce of sympathy from me until she rescinds that ultimatum.

That’s really not an excuse for her to treat Jean the was she does, Robert does have a point.
And Caley is kind to Aracely too, yet Aracely isn’t as obsessed with her. So I’m not sure it’s being shown kindness that is the issue.
Though personally, it think the issue is that she doesn’t realize that Jean used to be a regular human.
@50srefuge You want Neil to treat Jean as a slave? That’s messed up and wouldn’t be very funny. More than that, it would be very uncomfortable.

Alright, alright…
I think we should stop everyone.
