Begs the question, who actually are the people who Sam and Jean mistook each other for or is this actually what Guano wanted to happen and he just received assistance?
No – Jean thought Sam was another genie, spying on her for Lord Poopyhead, and Sam thought Jean was a witch spying on her for her mother…

Of course the next time i shuffle my avatars (i currently have six in play with about seventy already uploaded and i add new ones every so often), everybody will wonder that the heck you were talking about.

I like the fact they each made reference to their other half’s species several times before both of them had a “Waaiiiitt a minute” moment at the same time.
I also notice the boys (a) didn’t buy a drink for the girl their involved with and (b) are apparently able to see the fight from there so the person they bought them from can as well.
Also no Neil your not just friends, it may take awhile yet but Jeanie’s attitude towards you is already starting to change.
Well either the vendor can see the fight or the boy’s just walked off in the middle of it. Also I can so hear them saying Genies/Witch’s in the tone people usually use to say men/women.
I’m also hoping that Derick’s marriage question has caused a seed to sprout in the sadly underdeveloped male portion of Neil’s brain.
If you look at the last episodes, which show the actual duel, you see what happens:

In #256 the pavilion is empty. Behind the pavilion is a large bush and right from the bush is a stair. In the last panel of this episode, the stair is left of the bush. Also, there’s a street at the end of the stairs.
I deduce, that the scene in the last panel is behind the bush with the camera turned by 180°. We see the boys now standing in front of the coffee cart, while the bush obstructs the view on the beach an thus the duel. https://jeaniebottle.com/?p=1551
I’m glad I’m not the only one seeing a change in Jeanie.

I admit it–I hope the boys don’t let on right away. It’s pretty clear the girls aren’t all that serious, and the guys need to have a serious talk.
Now comes the big decision. Do they tell Jean and Sam or not tell them. Or do they tell Jean and Sam now or later. Of course if they don’t tell them immediately, there could be repercussions.
Finally,the men realize it’s just a mistake.
Can’t wait to see how they stop the girls.
Stop them? Whyever for?

Because I want to see they got hurt by the girls.(U know,being misfired.)
And,well,they have to stop them eventurlly.(Maybe after the girls finshed the fight or realize what happen theirself.)

I think you are right, which means the duel is taking place over behind a sand dune from the snack shack where the guys are. So, the vendor can’t really see what’s happening.
It also means the guys have wandered out of sight from the women. Probably not a wise move. There could be . . . consequences.
Are they the ‘seconds’ for this duel?
Yelling “Time Out!” should be sufficient to end the duel.
I’d be afraid of serious injury using magic against an
opponent with different powers than thought.
Nothing is ever as simple as that in these webcomic.
So are they going to wade out into the middle of the fight and try to stop it? Might be, well, kinda difficult…

No again, they’re both smart guys who have stumbled into powerfully weird circumstances. Neither has any reason to believe there might be more than a single class of magical girl. They’re both seeing what they expect to see, an entirely human response.
I think both guys know that neither girl means to inflict actual harm. Neil, at least, has had it demonstrated to him that he has limited control over Jeanie. I’d be surprised if Derick hasn’t as well. (At least via his MiL.)
I think there’s just something in their drinks

That or a major choking episode which causes the ladies to come to the aid of the respective mates (i mean, males, that is). And in the mix-up realize they’ve been fight over nothing and become BFF’s.
Naw, no humor in that theory…Spit take in….
I now have the image of the girls showing up, grabbing a guy and pulling them to “safety” only to realize they grabbed the wrong one.
Neil and Derick aren’t exactly the sharpest knives in the kitchen, that’s for sure.
Why are they any less sharp than the girls themselves?

Hm, unless you’re referring to electrically bonding lightning rods to ground, I don’t know what you mean.
I think the only thing that will stop this magical duel is when both parties are too tired to cast. That, or a small child wanders into the fray and mothering instincts kick in.

How did Neil know Sam is not being micromanaged by Lord Guano?

Also, witch can be used as a prejorative for particularly loathsome women, but genie not so much. Which very probably offends the wiccans.
Eh, the important thing is that the cat is out of the bag, and the boys out of harm’s way.

Back in February I wrote on comic 248 that I wondered when/if Jeanie and Neil would make love or have sex and I got shot down pretty hard by everyone including the author, and that’s fine, but I’m going to bring it up again because ha.
I know in general it is rude to give suggestions to authors but a lot of other people do it in the comments here. It’s just that this comic has a lot of moments of sexual tension between Jeanie and Neil (even right here in a way where we see Neil having to explain he isn’t marrying Jeanie) and I would like to see it build.
On top of the that the comic has been going on since I was frankly a lot younger and at this point I wouldn’t mind seeing something sexy happen between Neil and Jeanie.
Maybe not sex. Maybe they have to pretend to be in a relationship for a prolonged period of time. Maybe for some reason Jeanie has to wear whatever Neil wants and Neil decides to get back at him for Jean being a jerk before.
I just honestly think the comic would be stronger if it played up the awkward romantic tension between Neil and Jeanie more than making Neil another target to turn into a girl all the time (not that it could NEVER happen).
PS I really do like this comic!
In my opinion, going to an actual physical relationship (sex) would be a mistake. Neil and Jean are long term friends and pals. The awkward tension is the funny part. If you break that tension it gets boring pretty quickly. There are numerous examples in sitcom history of will-they-or-won’t-they couples who’s shows went down hill as soon as they got together. E.G. Moonlighting
Or I Dream of Jeanie. That ended soon after the on screen wedding
I guess my problem is I don’t find it funny at all I only find it sexy and I don’t see the point otherwise.
Do be honest part of what I’m doing here is trying to give some suggestions to a webcomic author on how they could get me to keep reading since I don’t really feel motivated to.

Also though I was mostly referring to the more immediate reaction I got directly to my post, your reply was in response to one of my responses and you were mostly talking to another commentor not me.
I’m going with no again, while I’m a fan of a Neil/Jeanie rommance the simple fact is in their world not that much time has really passed. Jeanie for all her slip ups and doing girlfirendy things for Neil (I suspect as a result of her new genie instincts) is still primarily male in how she thinks of herself. Of course in time I fully expect the two to wind up together but the simple fact is when you defuse sexual tension between two stars its generally time to end the series. The original I dream of Jeanie, the nannie, friends the only two a sexual relationship works from what I’ve seen is when its part of the relationship from the very start.
Changing the subject slightly, last night I watched a show about Barbara Eden that ran on the Biography Channel. And I realized that, this year, she’ll turn 80.
Do they still sell Geritol? I’d like to buy some.
(And those of you who are asking “What’s Geritol?” go back to your cribs and take a nap, you dad-blamed whipper-snappers!)
Just wanted to comment… I think that, in the third panel, the boys’ eyes should be flatter on top – like they are in the first panel. It’d provide more contrast for the raised-eyebrows realization in the fourth panel.

I note that the reason Jeanie and Neil were in the surf shop to begin with was that she was trying to get him into shape, to make him more physically attractive. Oh, sure, for Roger’s niece. Uh huh, right.

I assume you mean “works” in the sense of “not destroying narrativel tension in a story”, not in the sense of real life, where this happens all the time.

Jeanie absolutely NEEDS a Master. Flipping through past comics, I’m beginning to see a pattern: magical people are rather impulsive. If Neil doesn’t learn to assert himself, he’s going to become Jeanie’s pet. No good.
The Genie “Care and Feeding of” Manual seems to be pretty definitive as to how the power needs to flow; it’s no wonder Jeanie objects to it.
I’m not saying, mind, that Neil should order Jeanie to fall in love with him; I think that doesn’t work anyway. But I strongly suspect that female genies with strong but non-abusive male masters do in fact fall in love with them.
