Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jeanโs work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottleโs new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
A standard door is usually three feet wide. Makes the shark more like six feet long.
Also, “adverse” was probably meant to be “averse,” except that “averse” implies volition, not usually applied to inanimate objects. “Adversely affected by getting wet” would be more correct, but unlikely to be uttered by Jeanie.
Yeah, but even with standard use (such as conjuring sharks into Neil’s room), her life can last thousands of years. You need to do something really major to considerably shorten your lifespan.
That’s easy, Jean poofed it that way. But that’s just begging the question:
why did Jean poof it that way.
I have to assume panic. A poof went wrong, water starts pouring in. Jean runs into the living room in a panic closes the door and poofs it to hold. Now Neil’s room is watertight.
So, that gets us back to the original question: Why did Jean poof water into Neil’s room?
First, it’s a subtle difference, but I think you want “averse” not “adverse” in that last panel. Sorry, my dictionary geek self stumbled on that word. Here is a link explaining the difference: http://grammarist.com/usage/adverse-averse/
Is that an Amelia Earhart poster on Neil’s wall? Is it based on a real Coca Cola advertisement? It looks stylistically like some old Liberty magazine art work.
It was being held for review. it is up now. Certain posts get automatically held for a couple reasons. Too many links is an example. Also certain words in the post which mostly relate to offensive posts, trolling, and rude grammar nazis.
Unfortunately this does mean the occasion post gets held when there is nothing wrong with it. When it’s seen and reviewed, either myself or Robert the intern will approve it and it gets posted.
(And obviously I’m not going to list the criteria for which comments are held. You know what trollers would do with that info)
Thanks, I figured it just hadn’t been looked at, but since I saw Robert commenting I posted to sort of get him to look. I hope I wasn’t being a rude grammar nazi. I wasn’t trying to be.
Mostly I was curious about the poster on the wall.
This whole webcomic could be retitled “Jeanie’s March to the Sea.” Except that the sea has arrived onsite. (See Gen. Sherman if you don’t understand the reference. Not to be confused with the Anabasis.)
One question… WHAT THE BLOODY HELL HAPPENED TO GET A SHARK INTO NEIL’S ROOM?! I mean yeah there’s water, but a FREAKING shark? Really?!
Also what kind of shark is it I need this useless information
Pretty generic body, less than 5′ long, probably a grey reef shark. Most others would have a more distinctive shape, or markings, or be bigger.

An unhappy shark, it appears.
Jean wanted seafood?
Well, this comic has “Jump the Shark”
Oh, come on!! Someone had to say that !!
Well, I was gonna, but you didn’t say it as well as I had planned. ๐
Well, Frith Ra, go ahead and say it the way you wanted to say it.. There is always room for more Jumping the Shark comments..
I think Jump doesn’t look amused.
Jean must’ve been experimenting with her magic again. ๐
Or her sharky comments are becoming a lot more literal.
New Genie + free time to experiment with power = the above.
Should be careful with that considering each use of power shortens your life.

The most interesting question is why is Neil’s room watertight?
Probably part of her spell casting.

Ooops
Looks like oceanic stuff to me, and who was the genie consigned to a bottle she thought was in the bottom of the ocean again?
Magical spurned ‘girlfriend’ Araceli returns?
Magical Spurned Girlfriend Araceli, this fall on Anime Network!
In more serious news, *averse.
I really like that shark — lotsa attitude!

What was Jeanie thinking? Hopeful there aren’t any good books in there!
Why are you using “Jean” and “thinking” in the same sentence?
Yay!
That shark looks very… determined…
Hehe, I really like today’s comic.
I vote the shark for becoming a regular cast member!
I really like its attitude ๐
rofl Let’s see how Jeanie gets out of explaining the new aquarium. XD
Obviously she now needs to return everything back to how it was befo… oh … right, Jeanie.
Usually it’s *in* Vegas that you have to worry ’bout “sleeping with the fishes”…
She must’ve wanted a swimming pool very badly
She must have missed ‘Shark Week’ on cable,
and magicked the DVR.
Shame no mermaid.
Maybe it’s just off panel? ๐
Maybe he’s currently taking a shower in Vegas.
Water isn’t leaking through the door.
It’s as if there were an invisible aquarium in the room.
For all I know the rug isn’t wet.
It’s a little hard to see, but there is some leaking
OK my comment is being held in moderation. Have I annoyed a genie?
If you included links – more than one – that’ll do it.;
Well, I did include *a* link, only one, explaining the difference between “adverse” and “averse.”
I also commented on the Coca Cola poster and wondered if it was based on a real one and was it Amelia Earhart in the picture.

Nope, you weren’t rude. The comment was just flagged to be checked.

Haha is that the Orange iPhone, not quite Apple. The subtle touches are always great with CD.
