Random thought… is “midnight” local time (i.e. ~12hrs after the sun’s zenith // local noon), or is it the standard time in whatever time zone they’re in, or is it Daylight Saving Time’s (when applicable) midnight in their time zone?
(I doubt it makes one bit of difference in the story… it would only impact how long they have in demon form.)
It’s midnight when midnight magic works, of course. 🙂 There are lots of details we never got into. The odd thing about this page for me is that no one ever asked what Inkypus meant by saying he wasn’t a potato. 🙂
Despite not having eyes, Inkypus does seem to have an idea of what things look like, so either he can see through Quillian’s eyes, or he can see without eyes.
Re: “It’s midnight when midnight magic works” … that would appear — at least in my head-canon — to mean “local time” midnight, which makes sense since “dawn” is also a “local time” phenomenon. It would also explain (not that it’s been brought up as an issue), why they are sitting on the roof *waiting* for midnight, rather than going up at, say, 11:45pm on their watch.
I would expect “midnight” to be related to solar time (i.e. halfway from sunset until sunrise), either locally or in some “home” location. Magic would not care about what human governments decree about how to set the clocks.
A case to solve for the beginning of the next night of adventure.
Midnight to dawn? Not a lot of time to solve the mystery.

I’ll bite. What did Inkypus mean by that?
He’s not a potato because he doesn’t have eyes, of course. (So no need for the “no peeking.”)
Exactly! I thought this was pretty funny but Daniel pretended not to get it and made me explain it several times. 🙂

That works. Quillian doesn’t have a wristwatch of course because they don’t work in hell: it’s always the same time there; Eternity!
Except during Infernal Daylight Savings Time, of course.
