Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
A junior engineer working for a small engineering firm in Cocoa Beach. The firm focuses mostly on NASA projects.
Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
And Jean solved his own Origin Story and no one but Jean will ever truly know. Nice to see Nei/Natalie back to normal. How many pages left before the hiatus?
Don’t worry about a lack of content after this final canon page, though. We’ve received a ton of quality art to post as filler until CD gets back home in August.
Obviously both Jeanie and Natalie are back in Cincinnati the next day after Prom night the day before and there waking up the morning after they went to the Prom, because, Jeanie still has her Prom dress on.
Still remains to be seen (can’t tell if the future is restored without going back and looking) but it *appears* that things are going to be okay. No panels with someone feeling green around the gills, at least.
(Edit.. and Robert’s comment on the number of strips remaining is out-of-comic confirmation of this.) 😉
I’m really hoping Genie Natalie gets preserved/restored. There could be any number of reasons why. Maybe genies can’t be erased from time (even if their pasts can be altered). So she’s suddenly in another version of the bottle in the water or on an empty, non-Fatnasy Island, maybe with some memory loss from the overwritten time, maybe with none but trapped.
It’s in character. She does know what Neil went through, even if it no longer happened. And she always has been impulsive and selfish, to a degree. We’ll see how things might change from here.
I still think she could’ve created an illusion to do the same thing, but given the number of failures and Jean’s tendency not to think things through, I can see going this route.
“Protection”? Why? She’s a genie, darn near immortal. What more protection does she need?
Do you think Genatte gets Jean to use protection? [laughs self silly]
Jean, fixing a problem you created doesn’t make you the hero, it’s just called “taking responsibility”
(which, to be fair, is a HUGE step forward for Jean)
Who says it’s going to be the correct timeline? Better, probably. Same as they left? Who knows? Maybe this just sealed them as denizens of this timeline. Maybe they can’t go back to the future because they’re no longer from the future and this is now their present. Only time will tell.
Just picture Jean’s expression when she comes back out the bathroom and Nathalie says something like “stop babbling about that movie and get ready for school.”
@CD Rudd: “Interrupt things” Uhm, what? Isn’t there going to be a hiatus anyway? Oh, wait, you meant “interpret things”, but the all-seeing, all-knowing autocorrect oracle thought otherwise.
I don’t know why I didn’t spot that before. Araceli. Lahab, Alya, and Asha don’t wear hats. Rouyaa does wear one with her genie garb but not with her civilian clothes.
I also wonder what happened to Jeanie’s red cap and those gold bracelets she was wearing when she went into Jean’s room? It’d be funny if any of them were still in her apartment in the present; souveniers of Jean’s first conquest.
Well, there is an almost traditional reason why women express the need to take a long hot shower first thing in the morning after a date.
Hint: not a compliment to her date.
Most men view sex as, I scored and I am now a man!
But, when a women has sex with man, especially outside of the marriage relationship, she feel dirty or defiled and even cheapened even or worthless now.
It look like Jeanie has made pretty much a full conversion now from being a guy to being girl now. There now much left of Jean inside Jeanie now except those old memories of when she use to be him and even those memories have now been tainted also and she see him that way those other girls see him at the party that she went to, to commemorate him and his work of being professional reviewer of other people movies and books.
@Larry. Are you nuts? Women feel dirty and defiled after sex? In What reality or nation do live? In my experience, women, like men, have a great feeling of satisfaction after sex and the big ‘O’.
@SFCGator, it depends on the circumstances in which a women chooses to or is forced to have sex with a guy that decided whether or not a girl or a women will feel either satisfaction or if she will feel defiled or dirty, it a sociological thing with them. There is also physical logical condition that also go along with it too, like virginity once a girl that been opened up by somebody other than her husband, this was especially true in the olden days and why girls were protected and even chaperoned on dates. That why when a girls been raped and it is sex by the way that there having, she doesn’t feel of satisfaction as you say, she feel dirty or defiled.
We men don’t think like that, we will just blow it off and move on down the road and think nothing of it. Really only a women can answer what I just put out there and not any of us guys can not answer what I put out there and that include me myself too. That is also why Belle like engaging with sex with Neil while he was masquerading as Jean mentioned that she liked it better than the last time she had sex with Jean. Women know when there being treated with respect and/or if this is a loving act rather than being treated like there just a piece of meat. Don’t kid yours self and that what Jean doesn’t understand and even a lot of us guys too, don’t understand that either.
@larry i think you are using extreme examples to generalise and draw conclusions that are a little unsettling. Intimacy is intimacy regardless of sex. Men can feel abused too. Perhaps more so because often such feelings are encouraged to be suffered in silence. ‘Men can’t be hurt from sex’ they say… and it’s just not true. Men want their first time to be special too I think… Jean just found out her first time wasn’t special at all…
@ Guardingdark, I am waiting for a response from one of the girls here and not a response from another guy here. I already know that most guys will think of what I put down, it what the girls think about what I said that I am interested in.
@larry
Hmm. I wonder what answer would satisfy, given the conclusions drawn. Challenging your viewpoint can only come from an ‘aggressive male ’ or ‘victimised female’. Both sources come with a reason to dismiss unless they agree with you… but I hope you find your answer.
@Guardigndark. You miss the point that I am getting at. We guys see thing one way and we can only answer the question from our frame of reference that we guys see things and not by the way that girls see thing.
I intentionally wrote in a way that only a girl could answer the question, because, it about them and what they think about this matter.
I think in model the way most men think and most of the different variation of that and then I think in model how most female think and since I am not a female either, I have to go to other sources to get my information from. I am assuming that at least some of the stuff that I have been reading on this subject is true like most of the stuff that I have already up above like why a girl will feel dirty. From another source, if guy want to have sex even his wife, he needs to spend some time making her feel special to him or getting her ready for the event or she won’t enjoy it. From source I am reading that a girl more spiritually minded even doing sex. Even if you have nothing but the best intention and your married to the girl, if you go in there without taking into account these matter, you will offend her.
CD Rudd, did a very good job at what Jeanie said in the last to frame up above. If Jeanie were still thinking like Jean, she would OK it time for us to go home instead of what she did say. This is why I was the first one to pick up on Jeanie starting to think like a girl and not a guy even before both Robert and Rudd acknowledge that Jeanie was turning female inside. Now outside Jean turned into Jeanie instantaneously, but, internal or mental process, it was a slow process.
Let’s hope this future is something Jeanie and / or Neil can live with—’cause after doing the nasty with his nasty self, well, anything’s gotta be better.
Isn’t the future still technically changed because nothing prevented Natalie from distracting the president of the chess club so their younger self was able to have a nice long night with the person they really wanted?
That’s ok: remember that there were multiple changes they caused already, like the burger place closing … apparently, them being in past was already part of timeline, but it needed to be done right.
My interpretation is that everything that we saw happen at the prom was always supposed to have happened. In the timeline that Jeanie and Neil remember as their own pasts, Neil and Zoey got to hang out at prom because a mysterious brunette distracted Zoey’s pompous date. Jean’s mysterious blonde date had always been Jeanie. Danny had always spent a few hours getting whooped at chess by a cute brunette he never sees again (and possibly pines for to this day…? hehe).
Yes, Neil, you absolutely owe your genie, big time, because back when this whole thing started, you didn’t put your Masterful foot down, and say flat out, “Jeanie, I wish you wouldn’t do this. Take us back.” Instead you just got her to say, rather half heartedly, that she wouldn’t mess with the timeline, when she clearly had no idea how easy that was to do.
Jeanie, you got exactly what you deserved. I sincerely hope that when Neil earns his first time with his genie, it’s a much better experience–not least because I hope that it’s something you both want.
In frame 3, Natalie’s pointing at herself and scowling. Is she looking in a mirror, and confirming that she’s stil female?
===
I hope she’s not scowling at her appearance. She’s a real cutie.
But I hope after this is over, she’s Neil again.
So, how did Nat get back to the hotel room, with no date, no money.
Wake up in a good mood, wearing a purple sleep outfit, all without Jean’s usual magical help and foresight?
I don’t think so. It’s pretty obvious to me that everything that happened at prom was supposed to happen, according to Neil and Jean’s own memories of that night. Going to the diner and making them not become their own prom dates would have generated another new timeline.
Has Jeanie ever said what she remembers happening at and after the prom? Because I think you’r right. As others have said, no one’s gotten time-sick. Whatever the mechanism, the rift is healed.
I was partial to the stable time loop theory myself, I just thought there would be three resets instead of two, if only because the three wish fairy tale is so iconic. Though I guess the two resets means there were three loops and the story did follow the standard error-compounding error-restore status quo or worse construction.
It’s the “or worse” possibility that has me intrigued at the moment. Some three wish stories, like “The Farmer and the Sausage” reset to status quo. Others, like “The Monkey’s Paw” end on worse.
And Jean solved his own Origin Story and no one but Jean will ever truly know. Nice to see Nei/Natalie back to normal. How many pages left before the hiatus?
Just one.
Good to know thanks.
nooo
i figured as much
Don’t worry about a lack of content after this final canon page, though. We’ve received a ton of quality art to post as filler until CD gets back home in August.
Obviously both Jeanie and Natalie are back in Cincinnati the next day after Prom night the day before and there waking up the morning after they went to the Prom, because, Jeanie still has her Prom dress on.

(Edit.. and Robert’s comment on the number of strips remaining is out-of-comic confirmation of this.) 😉
The two alternate future after the School Prom have been erased, but, whether there future is back, that still in question even now.
“Presumed” erased
Yeah, I was right 🙂 But I bet there is still something…
Yes i think so too, be a good time to maybe reboot or change the plot line.
I wonder, will there be possible spin-offs on what happened to Natalie in the alternate time lines?
I’m really hoping Genie Natalie gets preserved/restored. There could be any number of reasons why. Maybe genies can’t be erased from time (even if their pasts can be altered). So she’s suddenly in another version of the bottle in the water or on an empty, non-Fatnasy Island, maybe with some memory loss from the overwritten time, maybe with none but trapped.
There’s some fan-made content that covers exactly that, which will be released during the hiatus. 🙂
“Hey so I solved the problem that’s entirely of my own doing but you owe me for making things right again”
It’s in character. She does know what Neil went through, even if it no longer happened. And she always has been impulsive and selfish, to a degree. We’ll see how things might change from here.
Nothing will change. I bet Jeanie will even delude herself about having sex with a man for the first time.
You don’t think she took the Phrase “Go (You Know) Yourself” Seriously? Hope she doesn’t get Preggers.
Also I wish Natalie could stay.
Jeanie has been pregnant since the Blue Djinn arc
Fortunately, Genie reproduction works differently, so she can hold off on the growth of the child indefinitely
I’m not so sure that she’s pregnant so much as now she fertile. They do seem to function differently than mortals.
Wow, she @!#?@!ed her own hat off.
I hope there was protection.
She doesn’t NEED protection: apparently, genies can’t reproduce with humans. Also she’s already pregnant.
Jean, fixing a problem you created doesn’t make you the hero, it’s just called “taking responsibility”
(which, to be fair, is a HUGE step forward for Jean)
Finally going back to the future on the correct timeline, and where they’re going, they don’t need roads.
No Fez. Jean is usally wearing it, but isn’t here.
Just left out, or intentional?
It was intentional.
Sooo…she loses her cap with her virginity?
Yeah, probably not. But will we ever learn what it does mean?
I may tell, but I prefer to let you all try to interrupt things.
Jean kept is as a souvenir of his first time.
So when they get back the future it will be there for Jeanie
Where would it be kept? He was evicted from his apartment after blowing a hole in the wall.
@CD Rudd: “Interrupt things” Uhm, what? Isn’t there going to be a hiatus anyway? Oh, wait, you meant “interpret things”, but the all-seeing, all-knowing autocorrect oracle thought otherwise.
interpret??
I don’t know why I didn’t spot that before. Araceli. Lahab, Alya, and Asha don’t wear hats. Rouyaa does wear one with her genie garb but not with her civilian clothes.
Jean wears a fez because Barbara Eden did. Barbara Eden wore a fez because Rouyaa did.
……..Wow!
I also wonder what happened to Jeanie’s red cap and those gold bracelets she was wearing when she went into Jean’s room? It’d be funny if any of them were still in her apartment in the present; souveniers of Jean’s first conquest.
Well Jean, after years justifying yourself about the women you used and discarded, how does it feel being one of them?
Good question.
The first one even.
Anyone else notice that Natalie is not wearing her signature green pajamas like she did on pages 647-648?
They were probably still wet.
Okay. I’ll bite! WTF is going on?
What do you think is going on?
Well, there is an almost traditional reason why women express the need to take a long hot shower first thing in the morning after a date.
Hint: not a compliment to her date.
I interpret it as Jeanie stating that she feels dirty because of what she ended up doing.
@ijuinkun: Quite so, but apparently there is a particular kind of “dirty” that makes women feel this way.
It’s not a joke, far from it.
Yes, women view sex differently than men do.
Most men view sex as, I scored and I am now a man!
But, when a women has sex with man, especially outside of the marriage relationship, she feel dirty or defiled and even cheapened even or worthless now.

Jeanie and Natalie’s room is in the same hotel as the the room Jean booked.

Jean could have just gone back to the diner and stopped them from leaving after eating

Jeanie taking one for the team…
Well, I did say back in the beginning of all this that if Jeanie wasn’t careful she’d be the one ‘going down’…
You know what Agatha and crew over at Girl Genius say?
“Any plan where you lose your hat is a bad plan.”
Snerk.
Haha, good point! Though I haven’t seen any Jagermonsters around here in the Jeanieverse.
Can’t believe I missed that. One of my alltime favorite lines.
