Jeanie Bottle 687
Oh my…
Just as a reminder to the readers, I Dream of a Jeanie Bottle will go on hiatus for about 4 months, after this storyline concludes in April. We’re still looking for more fanart to act as filler while CD is away, so if you’d like to provide any, please email me at coredumperror@gmail.com.
The Ultimate wish Fantasy Island were all your wishes can come true genius.
The type of wish he made is essentially a wish for infinite wishes. So he will either have some kind of Genie Karma that will hit him in the balls or somehow will use up all of Natalie’s power and end her existence, ending his wishes. Jean may become the vessel (by pissing off the Genie world) to give the child Jeanie was told to supply. Guano may require it for his selfish wish.
Jeanie looks shocked… and pissed off. I don’t see a genie vs Jean’s genie/ultimate-wish battle coming up (not enough time for it, among other reasons. So there might be a quick dash and poof coming up, followed by a bit more careful change/correction of her prom night with himself.
Yeah, hearing that Jean went beyond simply sleeping with Natalie, and went all the way to outright indefinite enslavement, finally triggered whatever moral sense Jeanie has.
Here we see how much is Neil missing.
Clap-clap-clap
The whole point is that Jean taking advantage of Natalie like this is wrong.
Even as dense as Jeanie is, even she now see how wrong Jean is now. Being on the protentual sexual end of what Jean want to do with her has finally sunk into her head now.
Wish we could have seen Nat mermaid
Yeah… though Jean was presumably disappointed, since the bottom half would have been an egg-laying fish. 😀
On first try maybe. It’s not like she’s limited to looking like something existing (assuming mermaids even exists in their universe).
Who says the bottom half is the fish half.
Who says mermaids are half FISH? Several writers have proposed they are cetacean, and thus would sexually compatible.
Presumably if you wish to have sex with a mermaid the magic will provide a mermaid you can have sex with. However, you’ll note that he wished for a “sexy fantasy” mermaid, which means that he wished for a mermaid that was sexy, not that he wished to have sex with a mermaid.
@MasterDiver:
Quite so. Note that most depictions of mermaids have horizontal flukes, like dolphins and whales, as opposed to vertical tail fins, like fish. Mermaids are also usually depicted as warm-blooded snd possessing mammary glands.
There is such a thing as a blowfish
I guess Feerless Ferret could be right. Maybe the top half is fish, but I have a feeling Jean isn’t going to like that combination either. Heh, maybe the left half is fish.
Watch Jeanie do something stupid like go back in time to when Natalie became a genie to warn her not to grant that wish (leaving ever patient thrice screwed Neil in Natalies bottle in this present). Honestly the fact that Neil even keeps Jeanie around anymore is probably a matter of protection/fear (imagine the kind of crazy revenge Jeanie’d plan) instead of anything positive she brings to his life.
There’s always the next Haji Day.
So his fantasy island cause Natalie to be more busty then?
Clearly he wanted Natalie to look like a porn star and due to the conditions of the wish, it changed her to look like one.
So… I really feel like we could have got to the Fantasy Island parody without the implied years-long repeated rape. I mean, think about it. Comic or not, ‘joke’ or not, that’s a choice the author made; and I’m not totally convinced it was intentional. Do they understand the implied horror? Jean here has the power to create slave women from the ether, but rather than have an enthusiastic participant, has chosen to use genie power to rape his male best friend. Now, maybe Jean is so full of himself he thinks Nat wants it (as many rapists do), but whatever the character’s motivations, it was the author’s choice. So, CD Rudd… Was this a conscious choice to insert ‘drama’? Did you not realize the deeply disturbing implications of this storyline? Or did you ultimately just think it wasn’t that big a deal? And, regardless of the answer, why did you feel this was necessary?
The story is showing how low an un-checked Jean can sunk. Jeanie is pretty self-absorbed. Will something this dramatic motivate Jeanie to change things?
In particular, will she begin to realize what a good Master she has?
Will she remember that she herself was Jean?
And, not at all by the way, will Jeanie think to ask Natalie how she feels about all this?
(Not expecting direct answers here, CD, just hoping that the story answers them.)
Given her position now in life, I would say that it’s the perfect timing for this arc.
@Ben: How so?
This is a dark alternative history showing the worst a person can be… it’s a staple of scifi fantasy to see such versions of a protagonist.
Forced gender changing alone is an unsolicited action with dark implications… these implications are brushed aside somewhat for comedy and story focus.
There have been times the author has walked into extreme darkness (sending those beach bullies to D-day, which is probably the equivalent of sending them to 9/11) but I trust the author after being a fan of many years and the story stands as a fun read with all its horrific implications, seeing what could happen if magic was part of our world.
You might not like it but comedy allows one to explore darker themes without becoming visceral in nature. Then again some people approach everything through the lens of ‘reality’, but then comedy is ultimately destroyed. Real life is brutal, but a story is a story and comedy is a light hearted approach to darkness. Alternative non canonic history allows an even deeper dive since there is no consequence besides knowledge.
This is a story of a man that can live without any consequence at all … will get everything he wants… no longer sees those around him as anything more then objects.
A genie story always results in a very bad comeuppance for such people, I would suggest patience.
@mike Given the character both recently absorbed the Blue Jinn’s pour. Plus the marriage to the new haji the character has potentially more power then ever. It’s probably a good time for them to learn to reign it in.
It goes beyond that in the implications . . .
“He wanted a tropical island with a mansion . . . GIRLS . . riches.”
Not dream girl, not a girl who’d do anything he wanted, girls plural. Sure we’ve only seen Natalie so far but I get the impression there’s been plenty of other girls he’s had his way with e.g. the one who dumped him just before prom.
Okay this is so disturbing. Not only is Jean as portrayed here, morally and ethically bankrupt, but what he has done is unequivocally evil. He has enslaved and repeatedly raped his best friend. Who knows what else he has done. And, by the way, isn’t forcing someone do something against their will against the Genie code?
Yea, it’s pretty dark. Will it motivate Jeanie to do something about it?
SFCGator: As I recall, the Genie Code, prevents Jeanie from changing someone else’s emotion; she cannot make another girl fall in love with Jean.
I’m actually curious about how Natalie has felt about this. Has Jean wished to be a really good lover? Has Natalie put up with him because, wow, he’s actually really good at sex now?
She just doesn’t seem all the desperate to be rescued.
Or she’s given up hope of ever being rescued and has just accepted this as her fate.
Oh dear, is she pregnant?
Mind control is forbidden, but threats of less-than-lethal violence or other non-lethal punishments are permissible (you’d be surprised what you can live through, and some punishments may seem worse than death, such as being made inanimate but still conscious for eternity or excruciating pain that goes on for years without relief).
@50srefugee: Natalie has put up with this because Jean still has one wish remaining and she can’t just pick up and leave. I don’t think genies can abandon their master with that wish remaining.
As for rescue, she probably doesn’t know that rescue is even possible. I can think up several scenarios where she gets rescued what with Jeanis and Neil present, but since I doubt the genie manual was summoned, she’s clueless.
Now, once Jean says the magic word, Natalie is free of him and watch out.
@SFCGator: Read the 2nd panel again… Girls. Natalie may not be the only victim of Jean’s perversion.
Take a look at Natalie’s expression when Jean touches her. Her expression seems to be a mix of anger and disgust.
Natalie doesn’t have to make a girl fall in love with Jean. She just has to make that girl so physically aroused the she’s willing, even eager to have sex with Jean.
I doubt that Jean asked Natalie to make him a great lover. He already KNOWS how great he is. He probably did wish to be more muscular, have greater endurance and agility and, of course, enlarge his manhood.
If he thought of it, he could ask Natalie to enable him to have multiple orgasms. She could “crock” that wish by making him female, but he’d probably wish his male body back. Except, the wish that turned him female would be hs third wish.
@Ellie Dauber, assuming that Jean does the body enhancement to make him more sexual appealing and such and that it was his third wish then Natalie could do to him what Jeanie did to the Greek Sea Captain and then leave high and dry as female with hyped up sexual desire for every man that may come along. Now that would be a fitting end for that sexual pervert Jean now.
Because, at this point in this Genie/Master relationship between Jean and her, there would be absolutely no desire to be around his or the way that he has violated her as a former guy that he use to call his friend and Natalie would probably have nothing but, contempt for him now. When someone want to take advantage of people like that, I consider an ending like this both fitting and proper too.
@Larry: She could leave Jean up to his ass in alligators, too. Or rather, since this is a tropical island, Komodo Dragons.
And our Jeanie moves his mansion to Bikini Atoll-30 June 1946. Time to poof out of there. Hey, It is a tropical island just like he wished.
Whoops, replied to wrong post.
I don’t think this is the direction the story will go, but what exactly did Jean say when he wished for this island?
Because if this is Jeans’ own private fantasy island, doesn’t that technically make it Jeanie’s as well?
So, this version of Jean filled the void created by the original Jean telling him to ‘just fake it’ by doing just that – ‘faking’ it with every dream woman he could think of… … …
Basically, a reality-bending form of magical masturbation…
That is both kind of pathetic – and rather disturbing, if I’m honest xD
Since the arc is to end with only 3-5 more pages, I am guessing for a wish that allows for a “reverse time wipe” kinda thing.
I am imagining that Jeanie gets Jean to think of those awesome burgers from when they were in high school. Then allowing Jean to get that place to have never gone out of business which in turn undoes the damage of the original time travel.
I like this solution/wrap-up. Resets *everything* and brings the awesome burgers back into the present.
If so, the question remaining is what happens/happened on prom night, since Jean wouldn’t have had the timeline-corrupting date with himself.
If Jeanie poofs Jean into a girl, Natalie will not be able to undue another Genies magic. Jean will have to use his last wish to undo everything. How do we save Natalie the Genie. Does Neil have a sister?
I think that Neil will get poofed out of the bottle, and then he can grab it, which will make him the master. Failing that, he may be pushed to use his last wish to wish to have sex with Jeanie, which gets fulfilled on Prom Night instead of here and now.
If Genie Natalie can create sexy fantasies (potentially, hopefully, the equivalent of Star Trek holodeck creations that seem alive and aware but aren’t), could Jeanie not not bring her back (along with Neil) to the Prom and create a simulation of Jeanie to have sex with Jean as was originally remembered, thus restoring a timeline? Maybe that could be a solution. Hopefully, this allows Genie Natalie to come to the present, too. Maybe with her other self Neil as her new, better Master. (I’m genuinely hoping Genie Natalie is preserved. There’s a lot of potential for a new dynamic with her in it. And she deserves a better life.) Also, could Jeanie make the last wish, given that she arguably is Jean?
It’s Jean’s fantasy Island. Does that mean that there’s a Jean’s version of Mr. Rourke running around — and running the island? Mr. Rourke was very accommodating, the perfect hotel consierge, but he did have the power to override his guests’ fantasies. Even Jean’s perhaps.
And, since he’s the only other real person on the island, will Neil turn out to be the Rourke? Is that why he seems to be MIA at the moment?
“will Neil turn out to be the Rourke?”
Given that he is currently of somewhat diminished stature – I’ts the plane, it’s the plane!!!
Another interesting twist would be since it was Jean that probably had the island created for himself by his Genie, once the time line is restored to something along the original time line, it would be nice if Jeanie either save the island for her own use or maybe even shrink the island and put inside her own bottle. Either one of those options would be an interesting side story to go on once this is arc is over with.
As an aside: There’s a story on FictionMania — I forget the title and author — where a man uses magic to turn Cuba into his own private island, with Fidel Castro as his chief butler.
“Who says the bottom half is the fish half?” Ooh, like Night Gallery’s “Lindeman’s Catch”
Simple solution to prom night. Show Teen Jean an image of The Bottle. Tell him the first person to touch gets the greatest reward.
So it’s a matter of *which* old TV show their alterations in the timeline lead to.
It seems so.
Original Timeline: I Dream of Jeannie
First Altered Timeline: WKRP In Cincinnati
Second Altered Timeline: Fantasy Island
Somehow, I get the sinking feeling that the only way out of this will be for poor Neil to get Nataliefied—again.
I do think this is interesting. On the 1st divergent timeline we see Jean as himself but with nothing… no ambition, utterly defeated at a young age. In this one he is very happy, with literally everything he could ever want. Jeannie is seeing himself taken to two extremes… yet both these options he retains his male form.
What would these divergent versions think of jeannie if they could see her and compare their own situations?
Hmm, on his island does he even need a genie poof or was that part of the perfect wish. Get whatever he wants.
My suspicion is that the “perfect wish” ended up making it so basically, the universe and everyone/thing in it works to make Jean’s “wants” become “real.” So for the island, it was *poofed* but not as a (new) wish.
(If I’m right.) 🙂
Just grabbing the bottle by Neil would be too simple a solution to this problem. We are talking about Jeanie-What could possibly go wrong.
“I don’t know, I can imagine quite a bit.” Han Solo
There are three loose threads that I wonder about:
The head cheerleader being thrown out of her own prom because of Jeanie’s activities;
Zoey and Danny; what happened to each of them, since that chess game was also a result of Jeanie’s activities.
Will these ever be resolved?
I see two ways out of this mess and they are:
1. The first way out of this mess is to backtrack and clean this mess up, as in it never happened. That would be the fastest way to clean this mess up and it could be done in six week that suppose to be the time left for this Arc to end in. You would basically erase the alternate time lines and go back to the default time line.
2. Give up on the six week time limit and walk this thing out until you get an acceptable return to there future with a few possible alteration to it, but, still in acceptable boundaries that we can run with it.
Maybe if jean and Natalie poof back to the antique shop and tell Neil to ask Jean to hand him the bottle. Poof, problem solved.
Apparently, the Jeanie didn’t fall far from the Jean.
