So many questions… though this one finally answer my long time question about Rodge knowing about Araceli or not… I guess the answer was no.
let’s just say Rodge would never make it in “1,001 Arabian Nights”.
Blue Djinn created Jean a human body with no powers and is crying for the loss of Neil his best friend and Rodge.
Or maybe Blue is subjecting Jean to some sort of nightmare, something so scary that it’s making him cry.
Or maybe Jean got Amnesia and she’s crying cause she doesn’t know who or where she is?
the only way to find out, is to tune in next week.
Fairly sure, concidering how much Blue complains about being in a female body, if he had the power to take over another’s Genie body, he would have done so already with the guard on the pit of the Dammed. Kill one, take over the body of the other, follow his plan without more distractions, and get over the Haji day without dealing with a master. He could even blame the dead of the other guard on Jeanie… it’s not like Guano and lords would believe her anyway.
I am still convinced that Jean being the genie linked to Rouya’s Totem can’t be coincidence, I am sure that if Blue can take control over her so easily is for the “family” link.
Actually Carlos, I think that Blue Djinn was stuck in Jeanie’s body is, because, Jeanie was the only one that opened the door to the Blue Djinn and he came right in and took over. The Blue Djinn can kill other people and even Genie Lords, but, evidently he doesn’t have the power to take possession of somebody else body without there permission. In Jeanie’s chase, he basically trick her and when she open door to him, he snuck in on her. In of story of how he got in on Jeanie and couldn’t get into some other Genie male or female.
Or the magnitude of her mistakes is beginning to set in.
@Robert and CDRudd: y’all messed up on Panel 3. it’s not “Aracli”, it’s “Araceli”.
Whoops. Will fix.
Calling it right now:
Blue Djinn took control Araceii, who has more power than Jean, and stripped Jean of her powers.
And her clothes, apparently.
Kinda hard to tell whether Araceli is possessed by Blue since both wear Blue clothes.
@Rayisoar Dracobyss – the eyes are the actual hint. Jeannie’s eyes turned blue when possessed. Araceli’s are still black, so I’m guessing she’s safe.
@He Who Abides
I doubt it. Notice they only showed Araceli’s back in the 3rd panel. I think that is foreshadowing Blue’s takeover of Araceli.
This comic can not come out fast enough. I need to know what’s happening! The suspense is taking years of my life!
Harken do I detect a broken Jeanie?
Yell and she acting more like a girl than a guy too. It appears another piece of Jean bits the dirt also.
The main question I have is why did Jean make the the deal with the Blue Djiin? Cause I don’t think it was for power like she said.
She didn’t, she just assumed that having a voice inside her head, clamming to be her magic teaching her new tricks was a “normal genie thing”.
Jeanie didn’t know who the Blue Djinn was or what he was capable of pulling or that she could be inhabited by another genie being if she gave her permission to what was doing to her. Blue Djinn basically tricked her and by stroked Jeanie vanity as to who Jeanie was and what she could get out of this deal, which was more genie power, how to use that power and how to transform into a male genie, if not at her core, at least in her physical form.
Needless to say, the Blue Djinn lied to Jeanie on all accounts and now stuck and she doesn’t know what to do and so she break down and starts crying.
It’s not clear to me how squishing Lily caused a naked blonde girl to appear.
My guess–no, the girl is not Jeanie.
But then, where, exactly, is Jeanie/Blue?
Why is the girl naked? What is she crying about?
Looking back, the one with the most to lose here is Blue. Somehow, Jeanie has succeeded in thwarting him. (Identifies as male, right? except for being temporarily disguised as Jeanie?)
Blue has ended up in a copy of Jeanie’s body, naked because she is now not a genie of any kind. She’s powerless.
Jeanie’s around here somewhere. I hope not in the body we now see.
The girl that crying is out in the coat rack area of the restaurant Bistro. That the same place where Blue Djinn is in Jeanie’s body and Jeanie were talking to each other and where the Blue Djinn was laughing at Jeanie and her inability to stop what he was doing. So that girl sitting there on the floor crying is either Blue Djinn in Jeanie body or it Jeanie in spirit form sitting on the floor or it the Blue Djinn in Jeanie body in spirit form and maybe Jeanie has retaken her own body as a result of what Araceli did alone with what Jeanie may have done too to over power the Blue Djinn. We don’t know what happened yet or the finally out come yet.
Just because, there is a stronger Genie controlling Jeanie body, it doesn’t mean that Jeanie is no longer a Genie. It just mean’s that there a stronger Genie driving the Jeanie Body mobile and Jeanie sitting in the back sit of Jeanie being a Genie.
“The coat rack area of the restaurant Bistro. That the same place where Blue Djinn is in Jeanie’s body and Jeanie were talking to each other ” Ah, right.
“it doesn’t mean that Jeanie is no longer a Genie. “To clarify: I think that Blue is in control of the naked girl. I think Blue is naked because the genie costume is part of being a genie–remember how Jeanie would revert whenever she slept or lost focus? So, if Blue is no longer a genie, the body he inhabits will be naked–stripped of your genie powers=stripped, period.
Is Jeanie still sharing that body with Blue? Is she in a separate body? Is she now, in spirit at least, at Haji’s court? I’ll wait to see.
Side note: I’m a bit giggly at the coat room. “Bistros” are traditionally rather small, casual eateries serving simple food. A step or two above fast food, but no more. And coats in Cocoa Beach? Really? Those look like coats suited for a cooler clime.
The only reason that we were seeing two people talking to each other, was that CD Rudd was taking license with the Blue Djinn and Jeanie. When the Blue Djinn and Jeanie are talking to each other, the conversation is actually going on in Jeanie head between the Blue Djinn and Jeanie. It harder for CD Rudd to portray that conversation otherwise. It also easier for use to see what actually going between the Blue Djinn and Jeanie if he does it this way too.
“The only reason that we were seeing two people talking to each other, was that CD Rudd was taking license with the Blue Djinn and Jeanie. ”
Yes, I understand all that. It was a way of showing that Blue and Jeanie were sharing the same body. My question is, are they still sharing? I don’t think we know enough yet to answer that. My guess is that Blue occupies the body we now see, and that Blue is no longer a genie. Jeanie’s whereabouts are unknown, if she is not in the body we see here, but there are several interesting options.
As you say we don’t know yet, because, we don’t have enough information, but, with the information that we do have, we can make some educated guesses as to what happened and then wait for the next edition to find out if we are right about our guesses.
1. Acareli smashing Lillie changed the whole situation for Neil and Rodge who was in the process of being eaten by Lillie. It also changed the situation between Jeanie and the Blue Djinn, just how much and in which way, we don’t know yet.
2. We haven’t seen anything that have eliminated the Blue Djinn from Jeanie’s body yet or has permanently beat Jeanie or caused he to be absorbed into the person of the Blue Djinn, so there probably still together inside Jeanie’s body. That my best guess as what the situation is between Jeanie and Blue Djinn.
3. There an old term that goes like this: “strike your colors” or “raise the flag”. Strike your color is someone identifying themselves or is used in military term, where they blow horns and beat the drums and raise there flag and some time used before they attack the enemy. Raise the flag, you might be watching on old movie of two ship and one ship wants to know what the other ship is and the ship that want to know is an unarmed merchant ship and then up goes the Jolly Roger Skull and bones. Right now we have a naked crying female Jeanie Body sitting there and we are waiting for one of the two Genie’s to strike there colors or raise there flag over Jeanie’s body and put cloths on her. That what we are waiting on right now. To see who came out on top.
@Larry: “Strike the colors” actually means to lower the flag, especially to indicate surrender of a battle ship or other vessel. I don’t think the term is relevant as yet.
We haven’t even confirmed that the blonde is Jeanie’s body. We don’t know who, exactly, is crying. We don’t know why the body is naked.
My guess is that one or the other has been evicted, or has, uh, flown the coop. I hope–and that’s all it is, a hope–that Blue is trapped in a body she doesn’t really want, with no powers. But it’s possible that Blue has gone to fight Haji in his court, leaving a powerless Jeanie in a naked body. We’ll see.
Three genies?
I mean… yeah, for a who knows how long, Neil has been the “master” of both, Jeanie and Blue, and had Araceli at his extra official service as well. So yes, Neil had three genies all along!
Neil is “a” master, but he isn’t Araceli’s master. Caley is Araceli’s master as much as Araceli would prefer Neil Caley is the one who opened her bottle. Yes, she and Jean swapped bottles but they switched back, and if the first switch made Neil her master the second switch is just as valid. Which makes me wonder – would the other genies, particularly Guano, see Araceli’s obsession with Neil as a form of infidelity?
On the flip side, Araceli and Jeannie both seem to prefer Neil because he’s a genuinely decent guy who wouldn’t dream of using them as fetish fodder, something Jeannie fears from her own fetish and Araceli has probably experienced.
Genie can have there own wants and wish’s list too, but, it doesn’t mean that they can get what they want. So Neil is on, Araceli desired to have for her master list.So she misspeaks occasionally. No big deal.
<3 Araceli showing her contempt for Rodge, calling him "Cheese Pasta Man", not even worth remembering his name.
Its also a callback to this

Caley really does need to eat something other than mac and cheese.
My best guess is that after the little argument Jeanie and Blue outside the restaurant about inhabiting the same body. Blue… “fixed” that. By making a perfectly powerless human body to put Jeanie’s spirit in. In fact for those who are saying otherwise. Blue literally said in that strip “I’ll need to do something about you.” To which Jeanie responded “Like what, were in the same body. I’ll keep nagging until you get out.”
Only it wasn’t blue who got out, it was Jeanie because Blue forced her out into the new powerless body.
It’s the most likely scenario and as such probably won’t be the case come the the comic strip.
Your theory seems the most likely (but that doesn’t mean its the correct one). Consider this, though. Without Blue controlling Jeanie’s body she can now tell people what’s going on. Jeanie knows two Genie Lords (Guano and Kazom) and with Araceli present it would seem that the alarm is about to be sounded.
Asuming Latios theory is true, it wouldn’t be that weird for Blue to pass that posibility or most of it, in a typical villain mistake. Guano and Kazom are not a factor here, is hard to tell if Jeanie could contact Guano on her own before, but as a human she surely have no access to any of the genies she knows BUT Araceli, and Blue assumes that Neil and Rodge are plant food by now, so he may assume Jean can’t reach Araceli neither, being just a lost, nameless human on the streets now. Again, is just an asumtion, but so far, Araceli is the one factor that Blue seems to have not in concideration for his plans, alongside Jean and Neil trúe relationship and past.
I agree that Jeanie can’t contact Kazom or Guano by herself, but there is Araceli who undoubtedly can.
Oh Gee! I got a nasty idea of what going on or maybe it just the way that I would like it to turn out. Anyway, if CD Rudd isn’t already thinking this way and it not too late for him to change course and go this way.
Going over in my mind as to what has already happened in this arc, here are the ideas that are coming up.
1. We know that the Blue Djinn is an intruder into Jeanie body when he fooled Jeanie into opening the for him to come into her body.
2. We know that when Jeanie in control over her own body, Jeanie body is dressed in pink and when the Blue Djinn in control of her body, she dressed in blue. But, currently we have a naked Jeanie with neither pink which is Jeanie’s colors nor blue which is the Blue Djinn colors on her or which would mean, that neither Genie is in control over Jeanie body. We have a free for all here.
3. We have a crying female girl body that a Genie. Both Jeanie and the Blue Djinn are in this crying female girl genie body that seem to be out of control to either Genie too. Also prior to this time, the was the stronger of the two Genie’s in Jeanie’s body and now everything has come unhinged and either ones is in control.
4. Don’t only remember that the Blue Djinn was the one that created Lilly, but, also remember how he created Lilly too. The Blue Djinn took some of Neil hair and some of Jeanie hair and twirled them together and then he used his Genie magic to bring her to life. Now a third Genie come in and puts, the caboose on Lilly and now we have our current situation in this addition of Jeanie Bottle.
What I personally would like to see happen in next week addition and maybe the next couple of addition of Jeanie Bottle is.
1. Neil see Jeanie crying and Jeanie says “Oh, Master” “I am Sorry I tried to hurt, it wasn’t me, it was the Blue Djinn inside me.
2. Jeanie say, “Now Master I need you to bind the Blue Djinn that inside me with a binding wish so that he can’t take control over me again.”
3. Neil is kind of hesitant to do that, because that not the Jeanie that he remembers and she acting kind of crazy too. At this point, Jeanie’s frantic to get Neil to Make the wish to bind the Blue Djinn that she yelling at him. “MASTER, MASTER MAKE THE WISH, I CAN’T HOLD THE BLUE DJINN MUCH LONGER, MAKE THE WIISSHHH.” Anyway, Neil finally makes the wish and Jeanie pint colors finally come back on to Jeanie body and she is clothed again and in her right mind, more or less, well at least for Jeanie anyway.
4. Now Jeanie start complaining about how bad men are, especially male Genie’s. But, with current company of course, not counted among them.
5. Master I need you to make another wish to root this Blue Djinn out of me and throw him away from me forever. “You the Blue Djinn is from this time forward. to be cast out of my Jeanie forever into outer darkness forever and never to be seen or heard from again and nor anywhere else in this Universe either.”
He, gone, basically, it the end of this arc. Which is getting ready to happen anyway.
1) Rouyaa tips the wine bottle over, it rolls off the table and breaks.
2) She knows now that Jeanie is a genie so she runs into jean’s apartment and sees her old bottle, Blue’s lamp and the little sparkly thingie.
3) She rubs the lamp and recalls Blue just as Araceli and the gang get poofed into the apartment.
4) Rouyaa yells for Araceli to destroy the lamp and kill Blue.
5) Arcaceli drops the afore mentioned piano on it followed by a big safe followed by the elephant that lives in the apartment above Jeanie.
6) The little sparklie thing disappears so one of our three girls got tagged. A new little genie is on the way. I know, this is way out there.
If that last item happens, I’ll give you three guesses which one “got tagged” and the first two don’t count.
Yeah, I think everyone knows which one it would have to be.
Judging by the zigzaggy bangs, I think that’s the blonde from panels 2 and 3 of 531. She’s probably crying because BlueJean stole her clothes, Terminator-style. Why? I don’t know; maybe to get her car keys, or maybe just because she thought the outfit looked cool.
The bangs look like Honey but the hair isn’t long enough, it looks like Jeanie. Besides, you don’t mess with a Pixie Space Ranger. She might call Bay.
I think you left the v out of Southe-il academy. Does Rodge really not recognize his nieces nanny???
No, for the same reason that no one recognizes Clark Kent as Superman when he takes off his glasses. Plot armor.
Nothing said so far implies that Rodge does not recognize Aracelli (though indeed he may not, we’ll find out later) he’s just annoyed that clueless chick magic Neil seems to attract the attention of every woman (and every genie) that comes into their lives.
As someone who has been following these webcomics since the first chapter of Sailor Sun I have to say that I’m extremely impressed by CD Rudd’s growth as an artist. The shift in Araceli’s features between panels two and three is a beautiful example of the way he manages to give his characters such wonderfully expressive features with such an exquisite economy of line. Araceli’s expression changes from visibly concerned to clearly annoyed and there’s maybe eight or ten pen strokes difference between them. That takes real talent. More to the point, that takes developed skill, i.e. talent+effort. Many artists can draw faces, but to make something look so recognizably human using only ten or twenty lines? That’s skill of the caliber of Charles Schultz and maybe even Al Hirshfeld.
And don’t forget the visible rage in page 533.
What?
I don’t think it’s safe.
