Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
A junior engineer working for a small engineering firm in Cocoa Beach. The firm focuses mostly on NASA projects.
Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
Hehehe, nice meta-realization there Rodge. And to think they also met the characters from Bewitched and Dukes of Hazard and they didn’t realize that either…
It hasn’t actually been confirmed that either of those shows exist in the JB universe, so that’s not necessarily a lack of realization on Neil and Jeanie’s part.
Haha, well THAT would definitely be a coincidence if I Dream of Jeannie existed in the JB universe, but not the others? I mean, Bewitched being successful was one huge reason IDOJ existed in the first place! 🙂
…uh…and obviously the Dukes of Hazzard has to exist because…uh…Look is that a demonic duck!?
TG = TransGender. It’s a politically incorrect way to describe gender-bender fiction (GB is much better), but I’ve been calling stories about guys getting turned into girls “TG fiction” for 20 years, and it’s kindof stuck in my brain that way.
Neil told Rodge about Jeanie being Jean back when he first told him that Jeanie is a genie.
Anyway, yes, Jean turning into a genie in the first place is an odd coincidence, but the resemblance to the IDOJ character was explained by Kazom as being due to Jean’s own idea of what a genie should be like.
ijuin partially answered your question, but the full answer is that Neil told Rodge the details about Jeanie back in Vegas, right after Natalie informed Rodge that she was really Neil.
OK,got it.
(Man,so many years and so many pages later,I had started to lose track of the story….Just in case you want to know,I have been follewing since page one(and day one))
I’ve wondered about that, too. Look at all their eventual fates. Her master wound up an evil financial baron in Dallas…his best friend wound up an idiot airline navigator working out of Chicago and best friends with a psychologist…talk about wishes going bad…
Especially, if Rodger starts ragging Jean too much, which Rodger just might do, just because, he is that way. Rodger has a tendency of sticking his foot in his mouth too, just like Jean does, but, he doesn’t have any power like Jean does.
That could make for another mini arc series too that could be good for a few laughs too.
Could be a few higher level genies playing “Humans and Houses” (H&H). The catch is their “game pieces” are real people. Lord Guano is sent in from time to time to keep the more powerful piece from breaking the rules by making sure she knows her place. You can’t have one of the pawns ruining the fun by getting too uppity.
remember a drawing showing the slight differences between Jean and Barbra Eden. I suspect that Jeans vision of Jeannie is an idealized version based on present day supermodels 20 somethings fantasize about. The body of Hedi Klum or any other Victoria Secrets angel but with Edens face and flawlessly beautiful.
Barbara Eden played a role in an Andy Griffith show episode and in the words of Andy, “Nature’s been good to you. I mean real, real, real good. I can’t remember when I’ve seen nature spend as much time on one person.”
It’s been long established among readers, but not among the characters themselves. Jean was told by Kazom that her genie form was influenced by what Jean considered a genie should looks like, but who knows if Jeanie remembers that, or was even listening in the first place.
Never ignore a coincidence. Unless you’re busy. Then, always ignore a coincidence.
You should also remember to always bring a banana to a party, and that literally anything can be a little more sonic.
And lastly “You should always waste time when you don’t have any. Time is not the boss of you. Rule 408.”
No, but if you have the ability to make everything a bit more Sonic, then you just might be the Lord of Time.
It is called fate, destiny, providence, serendipity and karma. The whims of a certain bespectacled god.
Jean had it coming all along.
[Reading the first 6 words] (Resist… resist…) “… a horse.”

>Look is that a demonic duck!?
It’s an old TG reference, sir. But it checks out. 🙂
If anybody cares to answer. What the heck does TG stand for? This might be stupid but isn’t the demonic duck thing from EGS?
TG = TransGender. It’s a politically incorrect way to describe gender-bender fiction (GB is much better), but I’ve been calling stories about guys getting turned into girls “TG fiction” for 20 years, and it’s kindof stuck in my brain that way.
Stop breaking the 4th wall, Rodge!
Without making any specific comic commentary, for some reason I expected this scene to end like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSZwlMDSOvY
with everyone slowly turning towards the camera 🙂
There are more things in heaven and earth, Rodger, then are dreamt of in your philosophy.
Run Rob, he’s onto you!!!
He has become aware. He must be dealt with…
Someone contact the Eternal Sphere corporation, they must be told that yet another of their universal sims is developing self-awareness!
Did I missed some page?
Because since when Rodge is awared that jean…is jean?
Neil told Rodge about Jeanie being Jean back when he first told him that Jeanie is a genie.
Anyway, yes, Jean turning into a genie in the first place is an odd coincidence, but the resemblance to the IDOJ character was explained by Kazom as being due to Jean’s own idea of what a genie should be like.

This so calls for a mind blown meme gif
WOW!
Rodge actually had a THOUGHT. And it didn’t involve sex!
Amazing!
Well, Natalie’s not in the room, so he’s not distracted by his libido.
Yet. :p
It’s worth noting that even when he says something smart, it still manages to bring the room to an awkward pause.
The jig is up, the dream is collapsing!
I guess the question is, How far will the coincedences go.
I’ve wondered about that, too. Look at all their eventual fates. Her master wound up an evil financial baron in Dallas…his best friend wound up an idiot airline navigator working out of Chicago and best friends with a psychologist…talk about wishes going bad…
Rodge fails to realise that he, too, has an avatar in the show. Damn these fourth wall breaks, the characters always forget about something.
You think you’re a better detective than me, do you? Check your emails. The fight goes down tonight.
Moo mrow moo moo.
Wow, that’s a quick turnaround on an EGS reference. Heck, that’s the second EGS reference in this very comment thread!
And so I dream of a jennie bottle comes to a close….great comic cd
Nice ending
Careful the bloodbath on SS Rudd might indicate Rudd is tiring of the comics.
Where did you hear that jb is ending?
Nowhere. It’s not. He’s making a joke.
So is her now part of their friend group? 😮 Weird.
Being Jean’s friend means will meet girl Rodge soon?
I hope we meet femme-Rodge soon, too!
Yes, Rodge is overdue for getting that treatment.
What did he say about them getting married in season 5????…. What season is this comic in… Anyone keeping track?
There aren’t many slips (like that one) that don’t have an impact on this comic.
Story 9
He’s referring to the TV show he watched.
Yeah but wasn’t the show more episodic then arc based?
That wish has a biggest effect than they think. It likely changed things retroactively.
I feel like you are trying to distract us from something…
Mister W. Wilson and Miss P. Pie are sending their greetings. And condolenses for the 4th wall.

Don’t forget that pawns get to promote to queen. :p
Replying to injuin:

I just like Jean’s expression in the last panel.
OH MY FUCKING GOD..I FINALLY CAUGHT UP WITH THIS SHIT!.. I had to read for over 8 hours just to catch up T_T!..
(stupid Wifi from comcast)
Heya Hachi, glad to see you here!
So since you managed to binge the entire archive, I’m guessing you like the comic? 🙂
Congrads! Dont’ forget to check out the fan art page
Coincidental?
…I thought it was long established that Jean looks like this because of the TV show.
It’s been long established among readers, but not among the characters themselves. Jean was told by Kazom that her genie form was influenced by what Jean considered a genie should looks like, but who knows if Jeanie remembers that, or was even listening in the first place.
That explains Jean, but what about the NASA and Cocoa Beach parts of the coincidence? Didn’t those already exist *before* the transformation?
(BTW, I’m not sure of the best place to bring it up, but can the next crossover involve a clumsy secret agent?)
