Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
I’m not sure what you mean? The Captain wished for Jeanie “to make a dutiful wife, and bare me a son.” He never specified who would be that dutiful wife. The Captain is now a dutiful wife that will bear a son.
He should have wished, “I wish you were my dutiful wife that would bear me a son.”
Even “I wish you would make me a dutiful wife” is problematic its why if you ever get granted wishes you really need to (a) figure out if the beings going to deliberately mess you around and (b) Think it over and be very specific in what you wish for. For example I wish I was a cute girl seems straightforward enough but you could be a cute EIGHT year old girl instead of a teenager, a cute girl in a harem, a cute girl with no record of having ever lived or a cute 15 year old girl with a full paper trail and legal bank accounts all depending on the nature of your wish granter.
It makes perfect sense. He wished (well, technically; he didn’t actually make it a wish) that Jeannie would make a perfect wife. She did – she made him a perfect wife.
I don’t think any wish can be used to further bind a genie; they’re already bound by and to the lamp. So even if he had made the wish perfectly, it would have done nothing.
As a ‘dutyful’ wife, she’ll give the bottle to her husband.
It should be the original captain.
Is it safe to assume he owned the trawler before the first wish?
He wasn’t compensated for the transfer in ownership.
Now, he owns (joint ownerership?) the boat again and the cargo.
Not sure if the crew pay is based on a percentage of the post-expenses
value of the catch.
So….
New master, more wishes.
(Unless that’s not how bottle ownership is transferred.)
PS: ‘dutyful’ = obident = mind control?
PS: Can’t wish for love BUT is married = divorce?
First not wanting to sound sexist but frankly a cute dutiful (depending on the meaning of that) wife is going to have a lot easier time getting a guy to fall in love with her especially if she’s going to have his child than some ohter options out there so divorce isn’t necessarily on the cards especially if the father is the take responsibility type.
Secondly we know a genie can’t impose their will on a mortal but if their masters wish leave’s them open to being made to fall in love that might be a differnt matter. That is the difference between making a girl love you and making you fall in love (according to your own wish) with your new husband/boyfriend/fiance.
Incidently the controls on that seem a little off afterall Guano was able to impose his will on Neil when he thought Neil was a genie.
Record the location of the boat by GPS,
Dump all but 100 pounds of gold into the ocean.
Use the money for an expedition to recover the dumped gold.
Pay all applicable fees and taxes on the recovered gold.
Profit!
And on another note, Thanks CD. This week has given me (and I’m guessing here, quite a few others) a weeks worth of enjoyment and laughter! Bless you and Happy New Year! 🙂
First ‘Red’ and now the new Captain; I’m noticing a trend when it comes to Jeannie…she likes turning guys into woman. Speaking of which; I hope we learn what happened to ‘Red’
Actually, I think Neil was the first when Jean sent him to that strip club. If I had to assign a reason, it would probably be because Jean resents what happens to her and takes solace from inflicting similar gender changes on those around her.
Of course the genies of legend, they didn’t grant wishes out of finding it impossible to refuse. If you let a djinn out of an imprisonment, and it granted you a wish or 3, that was a GIFT that the djinn was giving you out of kindness and of their free choice out of gratitude, not out of obligation. There’s no forcing them to grant wishes they don’t want to grant. There’s no wishing for them to be your slave, they’d just as well freaking teleport you into the sun if you abused their generosity and made such a wish. They’re still powerful beings who can do whatever the hell they want. So it’s mighty stupid of this jerkwad to have done what he did and he should count himself lucky. And this greek guy should definitely be thinking in those terms. Just replace “genie” with “Greek god” after all, to know how dumb it is to try to bully a powerful being like that. He should have imagined the result if he had met Aphrodite or Hera instead of a genie and demanded she become his wife.
THAT DOESN’T EVEN MAKE SENSE IN CONTEXT OF THE WISH!!!!
Please tell me that if the genies have a system among themselves, that there’s a system for keeping the jackass genies from going wild.

It’s like saying “Make me a hamburger”
“OK, you’re a hamburger.”

How does it not make sense?
Stay tune, same bat time, same bat channel

Two things here.

If the trawler is dangerously overloaded…
Record the location of the boat by GPS,
Dump all but 100 pounds of gold into the ocean.
Use the money for an expedition to recover the dumped gold.
Pay all applicable fees and taxes on the recovered gold.

simpatic Jeanie.
And funny story ^_^
“simpatic”?
I did not want to repeat the words fun. Simpatic is a synonym of funny o nice…
At least the captain got some hair out of the deal. He can enjoy it as the ship sinks.

This is probably my favorite script from IDJB.
At least Jean gave him a great rack. There are worse ways for a wish to be fulfilled.
This is a good reminder that should you have some wishes from a genie, don’t get greedy and stay polite.

when the continues ?
Since she made him a “wife” that mean’s she needs to have a husband right?
