Jeanie

Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office. On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.

why is jean so annoyed 😛

Because she lost her best “punishment” for when she gets mad at Neil. Now he’ll be so used to it that it won’t bother him no more.

My theory is she annoyed her master wants to spend time with someone other than her. I am convinced those Jeanie urges are getting her affection for Neil to slowly turn into love.

She wants to go back to being a guy, and Neil is asking to be changed into a girl.

Do the ‘poofs’ have a slightly different sound indicated by the angle and direction of the letters?

I guess he’s secure in his manhood to be able to ‘wear the girl suit’ as a disguise.
Others might read something else into that.

The first downward reading ‘poof’ lacked support, the second upward reading ‘poof’ provided support. 😀

Neil might be secure enough at the moment. But maybe his girly side will get stronger over time. Once he feels attracted to Rodge, he’ll be in trouble.

      May 30, 2013, 4:27 am | # | Reply

Neil is already kind of attracted to Jean, and so far only Jean has had a problem with that.

Neil is foremost an engineer: He goes to great lengths to find the simplest solution that accomplishes the most.

Wouldn’t it be funny if Neil turned into Natalie on his days off and Jean says you never said anything about when to turn you into Natalie only that you wanted it to be for a few hours each day.

    • Morgan
      May 30, 2013, 1:04 pm | # | Reply

Correction, he said he wanted to be turned into a girl a few hours each evening, and she restates, You said “each” evening, hence until morning comes you will be turned into a girl “each” or rather every evening. and neil, not wanting to argue says Fine, you win

Well, you have to keep in mind “a few hours” doesn’t equate to “all night,” also.

Neil, Neil, Neil. You don’t get it. He *liked* that you weren’t wearing a bra.

What do you mean “performed”? I don’t see any necessary edit involving that word.

    • CD Rudd
      May 30, 2013, 11:21 pm | # | Reply

Preformed is past tense, while Neil is referring to the future as well as the past.

And seriously, don’t read if you’re that upset by spelling errors. I have proof readers. They’re called readers.

I do occasionally go back and correct the spelling on old comics that people politely point out. Since I’m not publishing either sailorsun.org or Jeaniebottle, nor am I selling memberships or forcing you to pay in anyway to read the comics. If you want perfect spelling, go to a book store or to a syndicated paper, where people are actually PAID for the work they do.

I’m ok with people pointing out spelling errors. But do it politely, or don’t read at all, because I don’t need the stress of reading the comments of self righteous jerks.

Bravo things like this should be done for relaxation and if you make a little error here or there it happens. Also yes as Valentine said read any professionally printed book run and you have a good chance of seeing spelling or grammar errors in them especially these days.

I love your work. I check several comics a day and this is one that caught me off guard. I did not expect it to last nearly this long or be this funny. And I have never, I repeat never even noticed a single spelling error, I know they are there but that’s not the reason I read. Please keep them up and those nay Sayers that pick out grammar mistakes can grade papers or something. I say keep it coming, I like your spelling errors.

      • Typeminer
        June 1, 2013, 12:15 am | # | Reply

I’m one of those people who’s paid to correct spelling in professionally published works.

CD, my man, you do have a problem with spelling. But you know that, and say so in just about every comment thread. Myself, I can’t draw for squat, and I couldn’t sing on key to save my life. It evens out. Trolls take note: These are not moral failings, or symptoms of stupidity. They are variations in brain wiring within the bounds of general intelligence.

Spelling and grammar errors are everywhere, believe me. And if the spelling of words doesn’t stick in your brain, you have to check them every time. It’s a drag. It’s time consuming. And errors will still get through all levels of checking.

CD is an art guy. His drawings rock, and his dialog is pretty good. The spelling glitches are unfortunate, but nowhere near as annoying as the clowns bitching because the guy pouring the free beer didn’t put a good enough head on the last glass.

Good editors deal with authors politely and respectfully, I can assure you.

Many thanks for the free beer, CD. Slainte!

Now, all we need to have happen, on one of these evenings, is for Aracelli to have shown back up. She’ll find Natalie in her master’s place, get jealous and send the ‘intruding female’ off to the Tower of London, or something.

    Poor Natalie. Er, Neil.

I recall the traditional being third date you kiss the boy, exception being if its a romantic date (flowers, nice dinner, horse and cart ride in a moonlit park etc as opposed to fast food and a movie) in which case you may kiss him on a first date.

This is a clear case of non-optimal wish use.

“I wish the relevant knowledge, and only the relevant knowledge, was copied from my brain’s long-term memory to his”.

Granted, Jean probably isn’t up to it, but still.

I had wondered if this counted towards some number of wishes, like the traditional 3 wishes.

He already spent those, she then chose (something any genie is allowed to do) to remain with him for the rest of his natural life and grant all his wishes.

      I read somewhere that’s a ‘metawish’.
There would be no end to that wish, making
      further wishes difficult or impossible.

Wish efficiency is actually important. As we have learned that a Jins lifespan is connected to how much of their magic they use up. I am guessing Jean is not remembering about it. If I were in a similar situation that would have stuck for me. page> https://jeaniebottle.com/?p=796

True but then again the example given was a Jeanie who used their powers to affect world altering wishes on a regular basis. I don’t think transgendering is going to use up all that much life expectancy.

Here is what I Think: “You want to be turned into a Girl?” “Only for a couple of hours each evening.” *Poof* So perhaps Neil now will automatically turn into a girl for a ‘couple’ of hours each evening, starting at whatever time it is in panel #1.
Regardless of weather he wants to or not, or weather Jean is paying attention or not. It is now a resident recurring spell. What I’ve learned from D&D all these years, is that Djinn’s magic is Explicit, literal, and has somewhat a mind of its own. And don’t sweat the spelling errors, Man. I’d love your comic even if every word was splled worng!

    • Senko
      May 31, 2013, 7:23 pm | # | Reply

When GMing I always divide my wish magic up into 3 categories good, neutral and evil. Wishes from a good source e.g the 17+ level kindly old archmage rewarding the helpful farm lad who came around every couple of day’s to check the old man in the woods was alright will try to twist a wish to grant the spirit of it rather than what is actually said, on the other end of the scale evil (or forced) wishes e.g. from a djinn you free from its imprisonment will try to twist the wording to either hurt you (or someone else) as much as possible or help them. Wishes from a neutral (or non intelligent) source like a ring of 3 wishes merely grant the wish in as direct a way it can adhering to the exact wording.

      For example . . .

Farm Lad “Errrr a wish . . . well um I do need to find a wife I know I wish I could meet a nice girl.”

      Good wish
Breaks his plow so he has to go into town where he bumps into a nice young woman who has a problem which he can help with (feeding her old granny) and they slowly fall in love.

      Neutral Wish
He meets the nearest nice girl he doesn’t know. Maybe they hit it off or maybe she’s married, an actual girl i.e. 5 years old or simply not interested in him.

      Evil Wish
He meets a nice girl who’s now dying from something so he has to use his second wish to save her, or in the spirit of the comic the first nice person he meets becomes a girl.

      Wish 2
“I wish there was a hot girl here who’d do what I want”

      Good
A submissive attractive girl appears afterall she’ll do what you want up to a point anyway.
      Neutral
You turn into a hot girl afterall you’ll always do what you want
      Evil
A girl appears on fire afterall she’s hot and you’ll probably want her to do something to put it out.

      Wish 3
      “I wish I had a fortune”

      Good/neutral
You find an old forgotten treasure, or maybe suddenly have a massive bank account. Good it always is legally and ethically aquired. Neutral maybe you got the uknown gold vein nearby or maybe you suddenly have government agents knocking at your door asking about the sudden increase in your fortunes. It all depends what’s easiest.

      Evil
You’re crushed under the enormous pile of coins.

    • Teerack
      June 1, 2013, 8:49 pm | # | Reply

I really doubt that, because he didn’t wish and it wouldn’t fit with all the past transformations.

Heh. She just lost her favorite way of making her best friend miserable. It’s no fun when he WANTS to be made into a girl. It loses the sense of POWER and release that comes with it.
