Jeanie

Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office. On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.

Just read the comic end to end, and I have to say, I’m a fan of this one. The story is very enjoyable, and the humour is solid.

I will say that I’d feel more bad for Jean if s/he wasn’t such a dick so much of the time. Likewise, I’d feel worse for the kid if I didn’t feel the world could use more hot red headed women walking around.

But yes, enjoyable comic so far, and looking forward to more.

Look it up on you tube and you will see how Hot Barbara was. If i was Larry Haggman I would say Barbara you are such a great actor. That with you throwing your self at me all day long in character I have developed a problem In my pants And i think we should retire to my trailer and method act the hell out of the problem until it becomes manageable size.

Actually, looking back at some of the “Jeannie” stories, you start to think Tony Nelson may have been one of TV’s first gay characters.

Tony and Jeannie, did get married.

Back in the 1960s, that wouldn’t mean a thing. There were very few gay men willing to come out of the closet.

Lol. I just realised how well this explanation fits my own story (see my deviant art page):
    – A girl is turned into a genie when she rubs a cursed lamp.
    – There’s a born blue genie (not disney style).
    – And I already had two cameos of Jeannie Bottle Characters.

Huh, so finally an explanation of how that happened… of course I doubt it gives Jeanie an escape route.

I’m guessing that genies who look like Shaq are rare and genies who look like Tony Randall are even rarer. 😉

And even more rare, genies who look like Lenny Henry.

+1 bonus for a Bernard and the Genie reference! I didn’t think anyone else remembered it.

For those that don’t it was a one-off BBC film with Alan Cumming and Rowan Atkinson in full Blackadder mode, about a hapless twerp who finds a genie and hilarity ensues. Go watch it.

Tony Randall wasn’t a genie in that movie, he was the guy who found the genie, played by Burl Ives. (Talking about “The Brass Bottle.”) And, even stranger, Randall’s girlfriend in the movie was played by a pre-Jeannie Barbara Eden.

Just a question. If Jean turned to what he was thinking of when he touched the bottle for the first time why the transformation happened later and not immediately?

Maybe Jeanie Creation Magic takes some incubation time.

Huh… Oddly enough, the first genie I’d probably have thought of would have been “Hard Hat Harry” from some kids shows I used to watch many years ago… which is amazing I still would remember that.

Probably would have thought of a more generic Arabian genie second.

People don’t seem to be grateful for what they have. Why not write a story arc about counting your blessings.

Hmmmm am I the only to notice that Kazom could still be under the impression she was originally a girl and just got things like hair, clothes, skin tone etc aletered as opposed to being originally male.

No, I think Kazom is pretty sharp and caught the implication that Jeanie was a male before becoming a genie. It was pretty explicitly stated in the previous strip and Kazom pays attention while pretending to doze.

It’s the shape. Had he found a handled brass lamp, bet he would be like Aladdin’s Genie. I know that if I found a bottle like that, that shape, I’d be a Barbara Eden-esque Jeanie too.

Speaking of ‘Wishmaster’, he totally cheated the black saleswoman who
    wanted to be beautiful forever.
The manikin didn’t do her justice and unless it was indestructible it
    wouldn’t last.

Maybe the ‘Wishmaster’ didn’t cheat the saleswoman on beauty. That might be what he considers the most beautiful shape and look for a female human. It’s not like he’s human after all. Although he was bound to ‘cheat’ her— he cheated everyone he could whenever he could.

Nope, I’d totally be a Jeannie genie. Aladdin-style is a distant second, and Kazaam…um, no. While I’ll admit to having had Shaq star in a fantasy or two in the past, it wasn’t as Kazaam! :giggle:

Huh, looks like CD actually retconned Jean’s original discovery of the bottle… twice! I leave it up to any enterprising readers who actually see this comment to learn the other two origin stories.
