Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
A junior engineer working for a small engineering firm in Cocoa Beach. The firm focuses mostly on NASA projects.
Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
Ho boy, I have reach the point in this story where I don’t know what to think of Jeanie’s final line here! Anything is posible with this girl! What on earth is she planing this time?
Carlos, I can think of two possibilities.
1) Jeannie will fill in as Santa, probably with the help of a little magic, or
2) She will poof herself to the North Pole, and call in the Big Guy, himself.
So the fact that it’s spelt “clause” now makes me wonder how a chapter where Neil becoming the actual Santa through the Santa Claise (You know the Tim Allen movies.) would be like.
You know, i appreciate that Jean wasn’t portrayed as a Scrooge and he was just sad he couldn’t visit his family during the holidays because the change.
That what I think is getting ready to happen too. Jeanie is actually starting act like she got a mother spirit in her, which she has. This is one of the few times she actually thinking of some one else beside herself.
Concidering how much she dreads getting old and ugly, and how much she enjoys doing her cosplay as a girl, somehow I doubt she would see that as progress!
Wait, wasn’t there some warning about dire consequences to genies who helped the space program in a previous story arc? Not that Jeanie ever let rules stop her from doing what she wanted.
Yes, indeed there was–which happened on or soon after May 26, 1969, when Apollo 10 returned to Earth. Exactly what year it is in the Jeanie Bottle “now” is conjecture, but 1969 was a long time before that “now”. It was established that it was a long time before Jean was born, somewhere around fifty years ago. Gosh, was Haji ever mean back then! But maybe Haji isn’t so mean now…
Or maybe Haji is DEAD now. Isn’t it curious that Haji hasn’t been seen even once?
He’s probably like the Wizard of Oz, or Balok in the Star Trek episode, The Corbomite Maneuver. A little shrimp who doesn’t want to be seen because remaining mysterious enhances his prestige.
Closest I could find is strip 386 (which is curiously missing a direct link from the archives, though the strips before and after it are linked), where Haji instructed Rouyaa not to help the space program, but that was specifically for her, not a general edict to all genies.
As I recall, genies aren’t allowed to meddle in major human events, in order to keep mortals from seeing magic as a crutch (this is why Eva was demagiced, I believe). That said, humans have been to space enough that Haji might not care anymore. At least, not as it pertains to this particular star system.
Yes, the situation is way different now, than it was fifty-plus years ago, when the Space Race was on, and there were major political considerations at stake. We’ve already had several Mars rovers crawling around; one more isn’t going to have much effect. And Haji has bigger worries at home, like the Blue Djinn.
if Jean goes to Mars and unsticks the rover she will be caught on camera by the rover and broadcast back to Neal. Now everyone will think the Mars mission was fake. So–Jean, dress up like an elf or a Martian.
As fun as thst could be, acording to both, the info page, and the ending of the “I dream of Verisimilitude” story, just like in I Dream of a Jeannie, genies in this world can’t being capture on camera, so, in an irónico twist, Jeanie trying to fix the Robert by herself, may only convince the guys on earth that the Rover’s camera is completly busted!
Genie can’t be photograph in pitchers and on video, but, they do have reflections in a mirror. At least the the way it was in the TV series. When Jeanie and Major Nelson got married, all you could see was Major Nelson at the alter. You could hear Jeanie talking, but, you couldn’t see her. They tried to use a Manichean to stand in for Jeanie and it didn’t work out. Jeanie tried to use her magic on the Manichean to make it appear to be her, but, it flopped.
Well she might break some laws this Christmas. But Santa will understand.
Ho boy, I have reach the point in this story where I don’t know what to think of Jeanie’s final line here! Anything is posible with this girl! What on earth is she planing this time?
“What on earth is she planing this time?”
I think the proper question is “What on Mars is she planning this time?’ 😉
Carlos, I can think of two possibilities.

2) She will poof herself to the North Pole, and call in the Big Guy, himself.
If Jean could fix the General Lee, maybe Jean could fix the rover?
You’re probably right, Tom, but Neil would never ask, and it would never occur to Jean.
Robert? Are you still on vacation? Panel 1: “CLAUSE” -> “claus”, again.
Yeah, I’m still on my DC/NYC trip. Sadly, I can’t do any editing until I get back to LA on the 29th.
Oh come on, there must be an app for that! There is an app for any thing! With your phones power you could revamp the whole strip! 🙂
So the fact that it’s spelt “clause” now makes me wonder how a chapter where Neil becoming the actual Santa through the Santa Claise (You know the Tim Allen movies.) would be like.
Hmm. Whatever Jean is about to do, she’s actually doing it for an unselfish reason. Who woulda thunk it?
Is it unselfish? I mean, maybe she just wants to see Neil dressed as Santa for the lulz. 🙂
Actually, as we learned in the Cowboy Bebop movie”Knocking on Heaven’s Door”, Mars’ holiday is Halloween. ^_^
Wrong holiday, but I can’t resist . .
“By the pricking of my thumbs, something stupid this way comes.”
This has to be the nicest we’ve seen CD portray Jean.
Yeah. It’s kind of weird, but in a good way.
Jean will poof herself to Mars and free the rover manually and then quickly poof back to Earth
You know, i appreciate that Jean wasn’t portrayed as a Scrooge and he was just sad he couldn’t visit his family during the holidays because the change.
And helping out here did seem to cheer Jean up.
feeling a Barbara Eden Jeanie moment about to happen. in other words Jean about to do something Jeanie would do on TV show
That what I think is getting ready to happen too. Jeanie is actually starting act like she got a mother spirit in her, which she has. This is one of the few times she actually thinking of some one else beside herself.
Oh, no, the Santa Clause! She’ll put on the suit and become a fat old guy!
Which might, from Jean’s point of view, be progress. ^_^
Concidering how much she dreads getting old and ugly, and how much she enjoys doing her cosplay as a girl, somehow I doubt she would see that as progress!

Actually, Neal can fix that. “Yes, I unstuck the rover, and yes, I needed to turn off the camera for a bit to do that because I needed more bandwith.”
… BTW, her line about holidays makes me think she WILL be dressed up as an elf … or Santa Claus. Or Mrs. Santa Claus.
Wait, I need to be “fixed”, now? Since when??
I mean, not that I would particularly mind getting “fixed” by Jeanie.
Genie can’t be photograph in pitchers and on video, but, they do have reflections in a mirror. At least the the way it was in the TV series. “Santa Claus vs. the Martians II”… or, “Jeanie’s ‘Naomi Wu’s’ in a Santa Claus Suit”!
