Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
Worse case would be that the chest starts to pull magic from Jean. They need to get away from it first, problem is they don’t know that it is the problem.
Natalie’s right, actually. Araceli returning to her bottle will heal her. Check out the Sleeping section of the Information page: https://jeaniebottle.com/?page_id=1821
That said… this likely drained a rather dramatic portion of Araceli’s power. Returning to one’s totem acts to recharge a genie, but using a lot of power reduces a genie’s maximum “charge level”. So Araceli may be much weaker than she was before, when she returns from recharging in her bottle.
You both are overlooking the fact that Jeanie likes Araceli about as much as she likes Guano, meaning not at all.
It might be possible for Neil/Natalie to convince Jeanie that she should help her antagonist, but he doesn’t know that genies can share magic and I don’t see Jeanie volunteering that information.
The animosity between them is why I said that Jeanie would have to be guilt-tripped into making such a transfusion, since she almost certainly would not be willing otherwise.
I had the impression that in a prior panel that Genies werent immortal and had a limited amount of magic, how would this work if she were drained of magic, how would a bottle recharge her? If it can wouldnt this go against earlier lore within this comic? Or am I missing something here?
As I understand it, a genie has a maximum charge, like a Nicad battery. As they use their magic, they get weaker and must recharge. I believe there are three ways this can work.
1. Weeks of rest, sleeping it off like Kazom.
2. Returning to their bottle, which acts like a battery charger.
3. Spending time in Haji’s palace, which also acts like a battery charger since you don’t see too many genies in bottles in the palace.
The downside is that, like a Nicad, the genie can recharge only a limited number of times, and each time they do, their peak power drops slightly. How much it drops is uncertain, but Kazom is over 3,000 years old.
Araceli left her Bottle is in Neil’s room before they departed on the boat. If Araceli dies, then it would be likely Neil would be the one who pick ups Araceli’s bottle and become a new genie of the bottle.
Don’t get too enthused; since a human-turned-genie’s appearance is based on what the said human thinks a genie looks like, and Rodge is already familiar with Jeannie, it’s likely that the bottle would turn him into a near-copy of Jeannie, marred only by possible errors in his visual memory.
To which I reply that genie-Neil in the alternate timeline where Neil picked up the bottle first, had a more “female Neil” appearance even before Jean as her master had her modify her looks. And this was a non-time-traveling version of Neil, so he didn’t have any experience with real, live genies yet.
Neil lacked Jean’s imagination and became a dull and uninteresting female version of himself. He would have been elbow-deep in technical journals and textbooks, which do not contain many images of genies.
Jean was obsessed with Barbara Eden and read extensively because he was a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. His version of a genie was a foregone conclusion, which only ramped up when he had the power to have the sexiest version of a genie possible.
Nat was the only one transformed before the trip, then transformed again by another magical force. Will Jeanie’s magic still have priority to be able to change Nat back into Neil?
I looks to me the second bit of magic that transformed Nat into a child has been removed and therefore the only remaining magic is the bit Jeanie used to make Neil Nat. So I don’t see a problem in that regard.
Red’s transformations were a case of mixing genie magic and witch magic. Where Neil/Natalie is concerned, both enchantments are from genies, so there’s less natural conflict, according to Kazom.
Whatever sucked out Araceli’s magic/lifeforce and memories was not a genie. I am thinking a South American god or anti=magic device. It completely disabled Araceli then used that energy to make projections of her thoughts and memory’s. As soon as it was out of range all magic effects disappeared. Genie magic is more permanent changes to reality. Now that it is powered up it could be a problem for anyone that comes into its range in the future.
It is an interesting theory, but that doesn’t explain the aging effects that affected the other passengers aboard the boat. Araceli might have fantasized about Caley being an adult and more independent (and maybe her friend Dominic), but why would she have considered regressing all the adults?
And what about Gilligan and the crew? Kazom said that creating blanks uses power, and giving them independent thought uses even more.
My theory is that the artifact contains a malevolent power that used Araceli’s magic to create a realm to rule over, possibly an imprisoned Mayan demon or god. Her memories gave it a convenient blueprint to work with. It seems to have overstepped its own reach when it pulled up the anchor, allowing the boat to drift out of range thereby allowing Araceli to wake and teleport herself back to her bottle. No Araceli, no magic, and the transformations dissipate.
Future visitors to the island shouldn’t have any trouble unless they bring a genie along.
I am thinking that in a world where magic is a thing, that artifact would be a hell of a weapon. First it would absorb and nuify an apposing army ‘s magical offensive and defensive capabilities. Second using that power it would cause chos in the non magical ranks by making them unable to defend themselves, age change, fantasy people or monsters. To an early South American tribe this would be the ultimate weapon. The Coquestadors that would have looted, then lost at sea, would not have been affected since they had no magic to trigger the device.
Some type of Chinese-style coin or some round loop of an amulet with ancient writing on it. A magic-sucking relic of sorts, maybe for protection or a weapon against magical beings? Though it doesn’t seem like it would work beneficently for its wearer if projecting one’s infected mental thoughts and memories into a solid form, especially in a malice way. If it got damaged overtime in that chest, that would explain its faulty functions.
I don’t believe we’re associated with Hachi’s site, so I can’t really say what might have happened. He hasn’t been on our discord in ages, and as far as I know, no one in Rudd Productions has spoken to him in quite a long time.
I clicked on the site link and it seems to be gone. Maybe the address was changed? Checking his Deviant Art page, his last posting was four days ago, so he’s still creating art. Was there a falling-out between Hachi and Rudd Productions?
There hasn’t been a falling out that I’m aware of. Hachi just hasn’t dropped us a line. Supported comics are generally comics I have or am willing to provide support too but not necessary hosted Rudd Productions. Hachi is the only one who can say why Wishmakers isn’t there. (Often people decide to let a webcomic just naturally die off, but as I don’t know what’s going on, I can’t say.)
I’ll see if I can figure out what’s going on and if the site doesn’t exist any longer, I’ll remove the link.
I checked his postings on his Deviant Art for the most recent upload of Jeanie Bottle fanart and there was exactly six posts related to IDoaJB, the most recent being ‘”Natalie – Mermaid-slit gown'” in Jan, 2019. I seem to remember there was a lot more Jeanie Bottle fanart in the past on Hachi’s DA, it looks like he’s deleted most of it. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Neil summons Jean so he can get proper help immediately before it’s too late for Araceli.
Worse case would be that the chest starts to pull magic from Jean. They need to get away from it first, problem is they don’t know that it is the problem.

If Jean knows/learns how to donate a fraction of her own magical energy, then she may be guilted into giving some to Araceli.
@ijuinkun has the same idea i did why doesnt jean offload some extra she gather due to blue jinn to fix some if not most of the damage

Please be ok Araceli ❤️
Just putting it out there.

Unless it’s Rodge…
Now that makes me interested in seeing a sketch of genie-girl Rodge.

I suppose it matters whether Araceli is getting into the bottle or drinking from it.
Why not both? She could be a Djinn Rummy!
“Djinn, no chaser.”
Didn’t need a chaser. Nothing could catch it!
Oh, dear god, that really got me laughing!
She could use a tonic…
“…there’s an old man, sitting next to me, making love to his tonic and djinn…”
“…only the good die young…”
I do love Billy Joel.

Mixing magics is never a good thing, look at Red/Tif.
True. Good point.

I think Jeanie wearing green celebrating St. Paddy’s Day at the top is cute.
Looks like Jean has had one to many glassee of good Irish beer.
Yikes! What was in that chest!?
Some type of Chinese-style coin or some round loop of an amulet with ancient writing on it. A magic-sucking relic of sorts, maybe for protection or a weapon against magical beings? In panel 3 did she leave something in the poof?
I think it’s just blanket wrinkles, collapsing inward from Araceli’s absence.
I should have known. It is the word POOF
Just what happened to the Wishmakers website!? Why is noted as not safe?
I don’t believe we’re associated with Hachi’s site, so I can’t really say what might have happened. He hasn’t been on our discord in ages, and as far as I know, no one in Rudd Productions has spoken to him in quite a long time.

A small change to the last two panels you could have Rodge on his knees begging for forgiveness, for being an ass.
