Chapter: Story 17: I Dream of Home Sweet Home
Characters: Caley
Well, well! Ginger is looking quite smashing in that yellow evening gown. Suspiciously smashing, actually…
And by the way, Happy Thanksgiving for the Americans in the audience! Hope y’all have plenty of tasty turkey this Thursday.
We have Gilligan skipper to The movie Star Professor and Mary Anne.
Where’s the millionaire and his wife?
They’re off somewhere howling.
Oh, God. Truly, the pun is mightier than the sword.
Why is Ginger in a ball gown, during a beach day?
And why do the denizens of this island look angry?
Most of Ginger’s wardrobe WAS evening gowns, and she doesn’t look very angry. She looks rather friendly.
She’s just hunting for anyone who has some hot rollers and hairspray.
The in=show story was that she got mad (I forget at whom) and ran out of the nightclub where she was performing, still wearing her evening gown from the show. In another episode, she made another dress from Gilligan’s seabag with “S.S. Minow” printed on it like a beauty pageant sash.
They paid for “The Gilligan’s island Adventure” experience and it was supposed to be EXCLUSIVE. Just them. No interlopers.
I wonder if this will tie to the animated series where they build a rocket ship but get lost in space… I know Haji forbade such antics but … I can’t help but wonder.
The Skipper and the Professor MIGHT be able to reassemble the engine on their boat…
But would the Professor feel like it? He’s probably still angry about the theme song. As was said in the Mystery Science 3000 movie, when a character played by Russell Johnson showed up, “What’s this ‘and the rest ‘@!#?@!’?”
Also, is the strange magic-affecting round object in the treasure chest that did a number on Araceli (from comic 797) in some way involved in keeping the castaways on the island? Is it truly only something that affects genies, or might it affect anyone with the ability to escape this island? Or at least get the castaways off of it.
The theme song got changed in the second season to include the professor and Mary Anne, after Bob Denver made a stink about it, and threatened to quit unless all the cast got mentioned. Classy move.
I remember. But still, the first season theme song exists.
I think you get it backwards and the castaways were not on the island before Araceli put them there. Or do you seriously think they could spent serious time on island while wearing evening gown? Remains of one, maybe.
Everything we see is just distraction from the real problem, which is Araceli being affected by that round object in the chest.
It depends on how much luggage they had with them. If it’s the standard 2-3 suitcases per person, then they have enough clothes to last more than five years (I base this on how fast my own wardrobe wears out if I wear the clothes till they start to fall apart). Note that the clothes will hold together a little longer with hand washing than with machine washing.
Yeah but why would they take all that luggage on a three hour tour?
Ask the Howells.
If you have already checked out of your hotel, then you are probably carrying your bags with you.
Incidentally, Dawn Wells and Barbara Eden became close friends.
At first I read that as “Dan Wells”, and I wondered “How did Barbara Eden end up becoming friends with a horror writer?”
I got to hang out with Dan for a week at a board gaming retreat earlier this year, tho, and he’s a swell dude.
Bob Denver also took less than star’s wages on the show with the agreement that the crew would get better pay. But Dawn Wells was the smart one; she took minimal wages for a share of the show. 🙂 She eventually made quite a lot of money. 🙂
Not according to https://kalimpongcollege.org.in/dawn-wells-net-worth/
None of them got residuals and Wells, in particular, struggled financially in her later years.
But that was decent of Denver. I never watched Gilligan. I remember him better as Maynard G. Krebs.
Why the reaction? From Wrongway Feldman to Harold Hecuba, the island was the crossroads of the world.
That’s probably where Judge Crater, Jimmy Hoffa and D.B. Cooper ended up.
D.B. Cooper is on a planet called “Charlie’s Planet” living with the native to that planet Bigfoots. See the Bob and Nikki series by Jerry Boyd. Nerd alert: There are currently 52 books in the series.
The spelling and grammar in the early books are not great, but the author (Jerry Boyd) has steadily improved. The BS has always been world-class.
Alternately, recent news articles suggest Dan “D.B.” Cooper was the alias of a skyjacker (now deceased) who was caught and convicted the second time he tried it. There are tests being done on a parachute…
Other people?! How can THAT be?
You may have given it away when you called Ginge “suspiciously smashing”. Where’s Lily??? She ate the Howels.
hahaha, that was not quite what I meant.
This situation is weird. Let’s hope it doesn’t include Sub-Lieutenant Reginald Baker of His Majesty’s Royal Navy and his wrecked Royal Naval Air Service flying boat. Do do do do…
I looked it up, but I’m still none the wiser. Information, please?

Inspired by The Outer Limits episode The Premonition (Jan 9th, 1965).
Thank you.
Remember, Ariceli is familiar with the Gilligan’s Island gang and their situation. I’m betting that neither they, nor the Minnow, were there the day before the sleep poofing happened. This is all Ariceli’s dream made real, I think.
It was all a dream. I LIKE IT, smart guy.
Pilgrim Jeanie is indeed progressing.
No witchcraft here!
Definitely no witchcraft, just genie magic. Not sure the other Pilgrims would make such fine distinctions, unless there were any real witches amongst them.^_^
The Castaways seem angry about finding other people? It makes one wonder if perhaps they wanted to be alone on the island.
I’ve read fan-faic #54. Poor Ifta. Good work!
You’re getting close to the end.
I know! I’ve downloaded #62, but I haven’t read it yet.
Yes, you do like Rita and write her well. I notice you also like and write Ann well. I think she’s my personal favorite.
But all of your writing’s pretty good. I may have had nit picks, but not with the writing. The writing is good.
Thank you.
Why don’t you log into the Discord site and throw your nits into the Fanfiction thread?
It’s not that important.
Maybe C. D. or Robert can answer one oI the biggest unanswered questions in the universe. I know, the answer is 42. But the question is did the professor ever get lucky with Mary Ann on the island. Another one is, why can’t you divide by Zero.
You’re asking if the Professor got lucky with Mary Ann on a show that took place during the same time period as the Dick Van Dyke Show, in which a married couple was required to have separate beds?
As Sherwood Schwartz once said (and I’ll paraphrase ’cause I don’t have my copy of the “Gilligan’s Island Guide” in front of me), you only saw what happened a half hour a week—who knows what they were doing the rest of the time?
Maitais and canapese in the five star resort on the other side of the island.
“Oh woe is me, I have to survive on this harsh desert island.”
“Cut”
“Alright I’m hitting the pool then I want lobster thermadore delivered to my room.”
It’s the cast of Moby Dick! There’s Skipper Ahab, Professor Queequeg, the Movie Starbuck…
Completely unrealistic speculation:
Note the absence of the Howells. Why? And why are the Castaways so angry? Because the Howells were able to arrange their rescue, but didn’t include the others. They may have even “promised” to send help — and obviously failed to do so, possibly including sending back a message to that effect. As a result, the remaining Castaways are highly suspicious of anyone who comes to the island.
I don’t think they’re angry. Ginger looks sultry, and Skipper has thick eyebrows that might give the wrong impression. The others look more in shock.
