Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
Well, this is going to be fun released from the bottle and married all in one day. So, who explains the wish his wife granted and how well will he take all this?
Let me explain. No, that would take too long, let me sum up: The original Ifta traded places with a mortal and hid her bottle next to the river Nile, not realizing a) erosion happens, and b) that particular mortal was the target of someone with a lethal grudge.
I’m going to guess because of this:
“The franchise began with Star Trek: The Original Series, which premiered on September 6, 1966, on Canada’s CTV network, and ran for three seasons. In the US it debuted on September 8, 1966 on NBC.” (WIKI)
Never mind; Cmd-F5 doesn’t work on a Mac. I can flush the cache manually, by deleting the appopriate files for the JB site from the Library subdirectory, but that’s kind of a tiresome process. If I ever find a keyboard shortcut, I’ll post it.
As I understand these things (not having personal experience myself), a sheath is ALWAYS recommended for the knife between the boobs.
Knives are also quieter and quite difficult to defend against. You can get some distance with them if you know how to throw them properly. But, yes, having both is preferable.
Well, of course there’s a scabbard; that goes without saying. They’re actually known as “bodice daggers”, and I have a couple of them. They make for a very effective way of saying “No”. Good for getting your point across, if you know what I mean. 😉
True, the weapon itself IS quiet, but unfortunately the target has this distressing tendency towards uttering high-pitched shrieks when hit, which kind of spoils the stealth aspect.
Thrown knives are highly overrated. Hollywood movies make it look easy, but hitting anything other than a totally stationary target is really, really hard, and if you miss, you’ve just thrown away your weapon.
But the biggest complaint I have about a dagger is that you have to let your opponent get extremely close before you can use it. For a hand weapon, I prefer a light, transitional cut-and-thrust rapier. That’s great for taking out an opponent before they are within grappling distance.
I think that Lehab already knows what is going on, and thinks either that this will be a good learning experience for Jeanie, or that Jeanie would be more willing and able to protect the human-turned-genie. Note how Jeanie has been trying to defend Ifta against the other genies.
It’s possible but it’s more likely CD is using a word that simply doesn’t translate through normal means. Most of my searches for “chroí” turned up as flowers when not telling me it was Irish.
Yes, and for someone that hated Ifta it was a pretty magnanimous gesture. Between Jeanie jumping in between Aazim and Ifta and Shula’s quick thinking, they may have averted disaster.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Shula knows that a human who is improperly given genie power is a walking disaster area, so it’s best to keep her where they can watch her.

It’s going to be a big bummer when he finds out.
Who’s to say that Istfa and Aazim weren’t married BEFORE Ifta went into the bottle?
It does seem like that.
You know, I wonder if Ifta is happy being a mortsl guy…

Nice Princess Bride homage.
Yes. I love it!
I read mates the wrong way at first. “Wow, that’s not how I greet MY mates…”
A reminder that Ifta’s backstory can be found here…

A small detail, but the old Jeanie would have never stepped up to protect another girl from a presumed lecher.
True. But learning the needs of her new form does not necessarily mean learning empathy in general.
Baby steps…
A woman with a past…now all she has to do is find out what it was.
Like waking up in a Twilight Zone episode, only “Ifta” wouldn’t know about that.
There are days when I swear Rod Serling has been following me around….
Nice banner! ST:TOS “Mirror, Mirror” if memory serves me correctly. Significance?

Thanks! I figured it was something like that, but didn’t quite make the connection.
Oh, YES!!!. What a great banner!!
THANK YOU, CD!! You made my whole week!
Yes! Yes! Yes! Now I have to go get my uniform on. Where did I put my boots?
Ok, any hope to see it for those of us who missed it?
Press Ctrl+F5 to force the page to refresh and not use the cache.
How do i do that on an iPad?
Ctrl = Cmd on Macs. I assume it works the same for IPods/IPads.
There are no such buttons on my iPad’s digital keyboard.

She needs a dagger in the top of her boot.
It’s easier to get to quickly if you put it between your boobs. But a phaser is more deadly, and usable at a distance. Personally, I’d go for both.

Maybe she DOES have a dagger in her boot, but it’s on the right leg, which is bent back where we can’t see it?
Perhaps she HAD a dagger, and has already used it.
Uhura was apparently left-handed because according to all the images I’ve seen the knife was in her left boot.

Hm. Well, after all, it _IS_ a mirror universe…
Learn to fake it, new Ifta.
Aazim is already too good for this world.
When did Lahab get ahold of Ifta’s bottle and why didn’t she open it and let her out instead of giving it to our Jeanie?
I think that Lehab already knows what is going on, and thinks either that this will be a good learning experience for Jeanie, or that Jeanie would be more willing and able to protect the human-turned-genie. Note how Jeanie has been trying to defend Ifta against the other genies.
Odd that Aazim would use an Irish/Gaelic word to describe his wife. “A chroí” translates to “his heart.”
But then, he does have red hair, sort of.
Maybe he was an Irishman converted to a genie by an empty totem. After all, Jeannie isn’t even vaguely Arabic.
It’s possible but it’s more likely CD is using a word that simply doesn’t translate through normal means. Most of my searches for “chroí” turned up as flowers when not telling me it was Irish.
You’re probably right. Aazim doesn’t seem likely to be an Irish name.
Pretty quick thinking by Shula, there. Gotta give credit where it’s due.
Aazim seems like a nice guy. Ifta/Kiran could have done a lot worse. [Like, Guano…]
Yes, and for someone that hated Ifta it was a pretty magnanimous gesture. Between Jeanie jumping in between Aazim and Ifta and Shula’s quick thinking, they may have averted disaster.
Re: Avoiding disaster. Yes, although knowing Jeannie, I’m sure she’ll inadvertently find a way to reverse that.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Shula knows that a human who is improperly given genie power is a walking disaster area, so it’s best to keep her where they can watch her.
That makes me wonder what
Richard, uh, that is, Dick in the M.C. qualifies as. Given that he’s a human who somehow acquired genie powers.Hello Aazim, you convenient and likely very vengeful plot device for later use.
“plot device”. ROTFL.
Jeanie, you are going to need some body armor this time–level 81. It would also look good on Bay.
If Kiran was married, he probably isn’t any more.
Shula suddenly being discreat and helpful is very disconcerting.
Kiran would be widowed by now, since it has been more than 120 years.
