Neil is Jean’s best friend. When Jean was turned into a genie, Neil became Jeanie’s master.
When last seen, Araceli was passed out on a bench on the upper deck after the amulet drained her power. Age regression on a genie that hundreds of years old might have no discernable effect.
Actually, I have yet to see a transformation in this strip where the resultant female didn’t look that way. Variations exist, of course, but generally if the resultant age is post-pubescent: thin, buxom, etc.
Or make Natalie the genie instead. And give us 2 perspectives on a possible Dijaal… okay that would actually be kinda cool. Araceli turning human and Neil / Natalie turning into a genie with Araceli’s powers. With Araceli having to coach Neil on how to use his abilities, and Araceli pretending she is still a genie.
It could also be an interesting way to reunite Neil and Jean.
Also @CD – something I just realized is Jean would have absorbed a large amount of djinn magic when she was possessed by the blue djinn. Wouldn’t Jean also have some Dijaal properties as well?
Wait so Araceli likely a teenager as well? Weird. Also I like the idea that Natille is Rodge’s little sister. Should be fun.
My question is – has there also been a mind alteration as well? Or does everyone still have there same memories… oh god. Childhood crushes between Rodge and Natallie.
Also @CD I looked at some of the earlier pages, I’m surprised how much you’ve improved over the years. Your characters are more expressive and detailed then I had remembered.
Well, the former kids are aware that they’re not the right ages. But Natalie and the boys’ reactions imply they’re oblivious to any changes. The real question is why it’s different.
I think Natalie is aware of the changes. Her reaction is probably because those two decided to play Mario Kart instead of worrying about why they’re kids.
Awareness of the surrounding world and circumstances does tend to come with age and experience. There was a Twilight Zone episode, I think “Kick the Can”, in which very experienced adults transformed to prepubescent kids and seemed to forget much of their previous adult lives. Something similar could be happening with Liam and Rodge.
The reverse, however, seems to be happening with Caley and Dominick, who may have gained more awareness with their additional “years”. ShadowRnnr said in a different post this week, “nothing Natalie has said or done implies that she retains her full memories”, but she sure as heck notices the changes. It is possible, though yet to be confirmed, that Natalie through her long-time association with Jeanie is more aware of sudden changes. Possibly Caley would also be more aware of these sorts of changes (didn’t she have Araceli as a genie for a long while?).
I don’t think they remember their old lives properly as Rog’s friend called Natalie his sister. If it weren’t for that I’d say just child personality overiding adult thought processes.
Found it (not that CD is actually using this): According to the maritime International Code of Signals, “V” stands for “I require assistance,” which is fitting under these circumstances.
Well transformations were a given considering the nature of this comic but this is certainly a turn for anyone who was expecting mermaids, though I guess mermaids would make solving the sunken McGuffin too simple. Presumably this only happened because the Medallion’s magic is interacting with Araceli’s magical being because Liam said they’d anchored in this cover before, presumably without issues.
I think the fact that Dominic and Caley recognized each other in their (we assume) late teen forms and Liam thought Natalie was Rodge’s sister implies not only physical transformations but also some mental transformations. Liam (if he retained his memory) would know that Rodge and Natalie are “engaged” and there would be no reason to think otherwise. Just like in the previous page, nothing Natalie has said or done implies that she retains her full memories and seems to have regressed to her early teens (12-14). Rodge and Liam seem even younger (around 10?).
Well, this vacation had the roles reversed on now the adults are kids and the kids are adults so where is Araceli for all this.
They look more like mid to late teens than adults. Better the age change when this direction as they would have had little to lose getting younger.
Araceli is wherever her bottle is. Genies return to their bottles to sleep. Given Araceli’s history her bottle is probably somewhere on shore.
When last seen, Araceli was passed out on a bench on the upper deck after the amulet drained her power. Age regression on a genie that hundreds of years old might have no discernable effect.
She also left her bottle at Neil’s house for safe keeping.
Called it. Didn’t expect Caley to turn out to be such a hot momma, though.

Genie Neil before Jean made his second wish was rather plain.
I have a funny feeling that Araceli is going to be a little girl
So Natalie will have to be the responsible one who drives the boat to safer waters?
Would it be funny if Araceli is like a baby genie with her adult mind but can only speak in baby talk.

More like a bossy big sister.

Well, at least nobody turned really, really old…yet…
I wonder if there is significance to the morse code “V” on Dominick’s shirt.
It’s a work-safe V-neck tee.

There is a mermaid on the wall, for those who wanted one.
Guys, we’re missing the important question here: Can we have pancakes or not?
Did someone Say PANCAKES?!
No pancakes, only Waffles.
Age swapped, this will be fun.

If that is the case, there might not be any one around to give Caley and Dom that oh so important talk.
Pancakes, and poor old Teri is not around. Save some for the kitty. Judging from they sizes Caley may be older than Natalie right now.
Someone put a lot of water between me and the pancakes! 🙁
Everyone kept their genders *sigh*
Yes, we need fem-Rodge to be canon!
I loved this storyline premise when the Wotch did it. Excited to see it play out again
Well, at least for once, Rodge’s mental and physical maturity matches up… 😉
I wonder if Araceli could end up being the mermaid? Someone has to go into the water and find that thing-a-ma-jig.
I don’t think she needs to become a mermaid just for that. One quick poof should take care of it.
I’m sure they thought it would work, since Pig Latin is how adults communicate secrets in the presence of children.
Weird.
