Jean AKA Jeannie AKA Jeanie is a film, book, and magazine reviewer for a national magazine. Most of Jean’s work is done through email, which means he doesn't have to go into the office.
On a trip to find a gift for his girlfriend, Jean found an empty Genie Bottle. Upon picking up this bottle, Jean became the bottle’s new genie-powered occupant. Not only was Jean turned into a genie, but the bottle turned him into what he believed a genie of the bottle should look like. Which, due to his fascination with a classic 60s TV show, turned him into a busty blonde woman.
Well Guanos mother is in his harem can’t really go wrong except is this an excuse to leave her bottle banishment status. Also wonder how Natalie and the gang are doing on the boat?
Well unless she’s busy elsewhere, Guano is going to have to start coming up with good excuses as to why he rarely spends time with his new harem if he doesn’t want his mother scolding him.
Understandable given the usual politicking of the harem. Wives and concubines plotted against each other to decide who would become the “favorite”, and whose son would inherit the throne. Murder and infanticide were not uncommon.
I am breaking my three comic rule (approx three comics per scene), but I do it for a couple reasons. Mainly Natalie is sleeping while this is going on (Unless you want to see a comic with Natalie just snoring.) Second, we’re switching scenes during this set of comics (we were in the hallway, now we’re in Jeanie’s Harem room).
I confess you’re confounding my expectations with the way the Natalie-Rodge plotline is playing out. Even if she attributes Rodge’s behavior to be following up on his refusal to try not to make things awkward and somehow considers his actions to be just ribbing, I can’t imagine Neil/Natalie just going to sleep without demanding to know what Rodge was thinking when he introduced her to Ian as his fiancée in Part 771. That instead of that scene you showed Araceli’s situation makes me think the explanation isn’t coming anytime soon as Araceli’s worsening condition would seem to take priority. And the longer the explanation is delayed, the more I’m wondering about the true depth of Jeanie’s anger at Neil.
This has become an interesting gathering of personalities. Jeanie is the harem den mother due to being First Wife, Alya is sweetly naive, Shula is explosively unpredictable, and Ifta is… well, clueless.
And yes, Bthillman, Natalie and Araceli need more screen time.
I think it’s more likely that Jeanie simply doesn’t care about any of this. She has no interest in putting any effort into genie life or genie politics; she just wants to ditch this nonsense and get back to her real life. Genie powers (except for the being a girl thing) would be a godsend for a lazy and opportunistic person like Jean if only they didn’t come with all of these pesky responsibilities.
Not many. As Jeanie is first wife it makes sense for her to be picking the staff, but apparently female relatives aren’t included by default in the genies’ set-up.
When I described Haji’s harem in my fanfiction I used this reference from Wikipedia as a base line:
Harem (Arabic: حَرِيمٌ, romanized: ḥarīm, lit. ’a sacred inviolable place; female members of the family’)[1][2] refers to domestic spaces that are reserved for the women of the house in a Muslim family.[3][4][5] A harem may house a man’s wife or wives, their pre-pubescent male children, unmarried daughters, female domestic servants, and other unmarried female relatives. In the past, harems also housed enslaved concubines. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harem
My guess is that way back when Atty Boy liked girls and Ifta put the moves on him. Mommy was not about to lose her little boy. That was back when he had hair.
Neither. Domineering mothers and fathers are abound, specially in conservative environments. And they don’t like when their children make choices or become something they don’t approve.
Lastly, many of them still believe gayness is a choice.
Being or doing something of which your mother doesn’t approve leading her to behave in an overbearing way is a casual link, is it not? It’s harder to domineer someone who was already doing what you wanted before you had a chance to tell them so. How ungrateful of a child to anticipate their mother’s wishes, thus robbing her of the opportunity to belittle and control them.
attraction isn’t a choice, but something that is a choice is whether or not we act on it.
Also, why should anyone with less then a 6 on the Kinsey scale be considered gay. There are plenty of stories of happily “married” gay men, who suddenly ran off with a woman who they just clicked with (because they were bisexual all along)
When Ifta swaped bodies with Kiran did she keep her geanie powers and if so why did she let whats-his-name shoot her. So does kiran have a geanies body but not the power that goes with it. If Ifta did not keep her powers after the swap how was she going to get her body back if she didn’t have any power? Wait a minute, if she didn’t keep her power she could not have stuck Kiran into the bottle. Never mind, sometimes I just think to much,
It does seem like an odd situation, doesn’t it?
To summarize, Kiran wished to know what it was like to be a genie and Ifta granted that wish. I suppose genie/Kiran being summoned into the bottle might have been a result of the codependent nature of the genie-totem relationship; a genie must have a totem and a totem must have a genie. (Of course, that doesn’t explain why it didn’t happen that way to Jeanie… newer model totem maybe, without the redundancy? Same price, fewer features… inflation sucks.)
Ifta/Kiran wandered around “modern day” Egypt as a true mortal for a while then returned to find the totem had gone missing and an angry Ishaq Bux (Kiran’s former friend) waiting. I suppose she intended to “wish” to be a genie again and genie/Kiran would have been forced to grant that wish.

well Shula has a different reaction towards Ifta.
Seems like there might be some history there.
I wonder if Shula is the reason Ifta was brought back. MIL repellent.
Spelling mistake in panel 3- If you “What” In. That should be Want In.
Well unless she’s busy elsewhere, Guano is going to have to start coming up with good excuses as to why he rarely spends time with his new harem if he doesn’t want his mother scolding him.
Jeannie seems to have developed a sudden case of jealousy regarding Ifta.
And just when she (Jean) was starting to act decent.
I really do not think that Guano will be happy to have his mother in his haram, like it wasn’t akward enogh before
Historically speaking, it REALLY WAS the sultan’s mother who picked his bed mates from the harem.

As much as I am enjoying both story lines, Natalie could use a little more love. 2 Natalies to every 5 Jeanie’s could hurt her self-esteem.

I like confounding people. It keeps ya all on your toes.

How to passively dissolve a harem by kicking out EVERY woman in it without making your own hands dirty? Put the guy’s mother in it and wait.
I’m not sure Jeanie would want that. It would mean she would have to spend all the time with Guano instead of sharing the pain.

Really, if it’s a harem, how many are actually wives?
Not many. As Jeanie is first wife it makes sense for her to be picking the staff, but apparently female relatives aren’t included by default in the genies’ set-up.

Or maybe mommy genie blames Ifta for making her son gay. Because it was clearly HER fault.
Needless to say, plenty of real life examples of such behavior.
Yep, from the gay people I have known they always had a domineering mother. Mom ruled the roost at home.
Having a domineering mother has zero causal effect on being gay, although being gay could have a casual effect on having a domineering mother.

From what I’ve seen most gays know they are gay while still in grade school.
By the way… Ifta is the only genie that I can find that shows some leg. I think it’s a nice change of pace.
Yeah, a steady progression of nothing but harem pants would get pretty boring.
Maybe that’s why Shula is upset. Shula is very conservative and Ifta is progressive shows her legs

That makes more sense.
I vote the image of Jeanie in panel one be used as a new cast avatar image.
Or maybe the image of Jeanie in panel five.
Man, this is a minefield. How popular is she?
