And that’s it for I Dream of a Big Ball of Wibbly Wobbly, Timey Wimey… Stuff! The main Jeanie Bottle story will be going on hiatus until some time in August, when CD returns from his deployment.
However, there will still be new content on this feed during the break! In fact, I’ve received so much fanart, fanfiction, and even a whole entire comic, that there will be at least two new posts every week until the hiatus is over. So come on back every Tuesday and Thursday, and sometimes other days, beginning next week, for more art than you can shake a genie bottle at!
So, Zoey is training to be an Astro naught that’s pretty cool. Maybe Neil will have his second chance after all. Fun origin story.

Given the behavior of some of the characters, we would most likely encounter several Astro-nuts.
Common typo. Also the space in there makes me think this was probably Autocorrect “helping” by splitting “astronaught” into “astro naught” instead of “astronaut”.
Another thing of note is that she has achieved both a PhD and a Master’s in a separate field, in only seven years out of high school. Either she managed to shave a year off of her undergraduate time, or she got both postgraduate degrees in just three years. Either one is somewhat impressive on top of simply attaining those degrees in the first place.
@ijuinkun: Considering the elasticity of the CDVerse’s timestream, it may have been more or even less than 7 years. All we can say for certain is that Zoey is one smart lady.
Could be one of the accelerated masters programs that some colleges do. My own (Cal Poly SLO) allowed you to get a BS and a Masters in a single 5-year stint, if you took a bunch of extra classes each year. Then, with an accelerated PhD program at another school, you could totally have that done in 7-8 years.
You can do a PhD and a master’s degree at the same time, it’s tough, but doable. Purdue Veterinary School has an accelerated program that takes a student from Bachelors to DVM in just 6-7 years including clinicals. It all depends upon how many credits you can carry in or test out of. (Most high school “AP” credits are worthless until you prove you actually learned the material.) And in the sciences it all comes down to your grasp of mathematics. A solid grasp of higher mathematics will speed and smooth your way considerably.

I need to ask. Is it .. weird that Zoe looks so much like Neil? This isn’t a time paradox twin is it? With the number of Neil’s created in the past week I’m very confused.
Nah… Zoe has a round nose. Neil (and Natalie) have pointed noses.
I would like to point out the green hair tie Zoey is now wearing. This comic has used color in the past to denote relationships between people, Jean being the biggest example. Its possible Zoey and Neil are alot closer in this timeline than before Jean began craving time travel burgers.
She got a last name. In most comics, that’s a sure indicator that a character has been promoted to major recurring status or higher. 🙂

A lot of loose ends sort of dangling, but a good ending.
Congrats to Zoey for becoming to be an astronaut and for being posted to the space station. I hope she stays on as a character, making an appearance now and then.

Since she is training for a mission, she will almost certainly be hanging around Cocoa Beach in the coming months in-story, so Neil will be encountering her again.
However, this may not be in the immediately following storyline, since this scene is at the Johnson Space Center in Houston.
So the question that comes to my mind is: was Zoey always going to be an astronaut, or is this another unintended consequence of Jeanie mucking with the timeline? Or does that even matter?
Either way, I see jealousy issues in the future. Even if Jean isn’t actually jealous (kidding, Jean is always jealous. Of everyone, and everything) Zoey is going to see Neil and Jean’s relationship and draw the obvious (but probably wrong) conclusion. How will Jean react? How will Neil react? Tune in next August and find out.
Even if it did muck up the time line a little bit, I am OK with it. The question that I would like to ask is, was it Neil that got Zoey that got Neil interested in space and being an engineer and Astronaut or was it something they both decided on during the School Prom some seven or eight years ago. The original I Dream of Jeanie would be a little out dated with having Astronauts in Cocoa Beach instead of Houston which is a matter of over 1,000 miles apart from each other. However, having Zoey as the visiting Astronaut of this group changes the future story just little bit. Jeanie will definitely be getting jealous, because, she not Jean anymore, but, she is pretty much all female to her very core now or female genie at her core now.
This comic reminds me very much of the scene in the 1998 movie Deep Impact when the President presents the crew of the mission to stop a comet headed for Earth. Spoiler: The entire crew dies trying.
Will Jeanie’s selfcest have some long last impact on her psyche, or she will simply move on after rationalizing it?

In the last panel, the woman on the left doesn’t look too happy about Zoey’s inclusion. If Dr. Hensley become a recurring character in the comic, an antagonistic relationship between the two could be quite humorous. Especially if Jean gets pulled into the middle of a catfight.
I think she’s supposed to be of Asian descent rather than unhappy, but you’re right that if Zoey becomes a regular participant, she will need a foil.
And I thought Neil or Natalie would become an astronaut. Would make it very interesting with the time travel thing.

Does Jeanie care about Neil re-igniting his relationship with Zoey? Not sure if she actually has feelings for her long time friend, or at least genie instincts forcing her into jealousy against “competition”.
We will have to wait and see on this question is Jeanie jealous?
We know when Jeanie first became a genie, she was still thinking that Neil needed a girlfriend while she was still thinking Belle still being her girlfriend. Well that has been about a year ago there time, I wonder if Jeanie still thinking that way or has she shifted to seeing Neil more her master and a bit more possessive him now.
I don’t know, Larry… that emotional hug back in panel 3 of page 672 seemed to indicate a strong attachment.

Just as likely that Zoey convinced Neil to become and engineer or they could have convinced each about there future course and the direction that there both are going to take. In the I dream of Jeannie series that Neil is subbing for was an Astronaut and this is a good way to come through the back door at it.

Multiple people have. And as CD noted, she’s not naked. She is *nearly* naked, due to her wearing her fez.
After her tour of duty on the space station she could get assigned to Coco Beach. Hook up with Neil and then deal with a genie whom she remembers from high school. If she needs a foil she can have Jeanie in a triangle.
Remember that it been about seven years, how much do you think that Zoey going to remember anyway? Zoey will remember Neil, Jean who is Neil Friend and Danny her date to the Prom and maybe a few other people that went to that Prom too that she knows. Will Zoey remember two girls that she never seen before or since the Prom called Natalie and Jeanie, probably not. Unless Jeanie announces that she went to the school prom too, Zoey probably would not remember or have any reason to remember them.
What will happen is, Zoey will go from Houston to Cocoa Beach to meet her old friend Neil before and/or after her mission to the International Space Station and out steps the Blond bombshell Jeanie from Neil apartment and runs into Zoey coming the other way. I have one question or maybe two question and they are:
1. Do they tell Zoey that this is really Jean who was turned into a female genie or do the keep this a secret from her.
2. How will Zoey respond to seeing female leaving Neil apartment and now would be a good time Belle and/or agent Anderson to show up too to really spice thing up also.
You assume Zoey would show up unannounced after all this time.
Zoey reunites with Neil. Sees Jeanie living with him. How does Neil connect with Zoey but keep Jeanie a secret? Get confusing when Jean turns Neil into Natalie and Jean has to explain that Natalie is Neil’s cousin from far, far away.

Did Zoey go to school at MIT, and does she know Neil from college? The panel doesn’t say where she attended school.
Yes, that would be an interesting thing to know, instead of Neil and Zoey being away from each other for seven years, it would have only have been for maybe one year that they weren’t together at all. Assuming that they both went to MIT after they graduating from high school in Cincinnati, it would make an interesting back story too to bring everything up to date with the present from where we last saw together. We could have the two of them meeting each other there and kind of getting into a dating situation with each other with plans to meet up later. In this situation, there would be no Jean in the picture, because, he would still be in Cincinnati and he would not be getting in the way of Zoey and Neil. Jean won’t re-inter the picture until Neil move to Cocoa Beach to take that engineering job at the company that does contract work for NASA, where he intend to stay. Which would give Jean plenty of time to also move to Cocoa Beach to reconnect with Neil, see the I dream of Jeannie Marathon, go out and look for a present for Belle, Jean being turned into a Genie called Jeanie by picking up the Genie Bottle and then live a year with Neil as his Genie. In the mean time, Zoey finishing up her time MIT so she can get ready to go to Houston so that she can become an Astronaut at NASA. The could still write letter to each other and of course they could still each other too, to kind of keep trace of each other. Which would be a great setup for when Zoey come through Cocoa Beach to meet Neil while she on her way to Cape Kennedy to go to the International Space Station. As Gomer Pile once said, “SURPRISE!!! SURPRISE, Zoey!!!”
