Chapter: Story 12: I Dream of a Promotion
And so ends the I Dream of a Promotion storyline! The threat of the Blue Djinn has been (apparently) dealt with, and Jeanie is now going to be staying with Haji for a bit, to try to work out what the heck just happened.
Well lets celebrate a vacation from Jean and the defeat of Blue. So Rodge get the party bus and drinks are all on Jean. Cause you guys earned this party time. Also Rodge what is wrong with you and your mind really.
So, we’re going to finally see who this Haji is in the next chapter. About time!
So how bad will Jean mess up with meeting the Haji the first time?
After Haji tells Jean that she and Guano are really bonded – I would say pretty bad 🙂
I like how the poofs are like Police siren colors since Jeanie has kinda been arrested here.
Even Guano wouldn’t trust Rodge & Neil with a baby.
Neil’s quick shutdown on that idea with the side glance is great too xD .
Police sirens are blue not red.
It is quite clear actually: White light is for general illumination and making people aware of ones location. Yellow is a warning light, so it is used in things like road constructions and turn signal.
Red universally means stop, so it is used in traffic and back lights.
Green universally means go, and is only used in traffic light.
Left is only one colour, namely blue, which for that reason have been reserved for emergency services
I don’t know about you, but in my country, emergency siren lights are both red AND blue, simultaneously
There are not that many additive colours in existence, in fact I would make the claim that there is only five: red, yellow, green, blue and white. Any other colour is a derivative. White itself is a combination of the other four. Some may claim violet, but I don’t think it is easy to discern from blue, and as blue is the only colour without a clear natural purpose it is used universally in emergency services, that is fire department, ambulances and police cars.
I am not familiar with a place where they would add red light to a police alarm and I would highly question the logic of doing so too, seeing as red is used for all sorts of other functions, and thus people seeing a red light would not realise they were dealing with an emergency service
There is infinite number of colors in rainbow. It’s just that humans can see just three – red, green and blue – and see all other colors as combinations of these three.
@HKMaly, well no it is a little more complicated. There are three adidative base colours: Blue, Red and green, whose combination is white, but between the green and the red wavelength we have the yellow light. There is no green stars however as green light is right in the middle of the spectrum and with the different wavelenghts of lights that all stars emit, any star who sits in the middle will just be white.
Stars spectrum type are easy to remember using this small mnemonic: Oh Be A Fine Girl, Kiss Me.
Oh – O type stars = Blue
Be – B type stars = Blue-white
A – A type stars = white
Girl – G type stars = yellow (this is the sun)
Kiss – K type stars = orange
Me – M type stars = red
We can’t really go beyond blue or below red. Green is so narrow that it is rarely seen outside of lasers and subtractive reflective colours, so yellow is actually a much more common colour to see, and as I said, and as every five year old child knows, the sun is yellow.
And we only really have these five options when it comes to light, as it becomes too hard to discern colours that lies in between, however they are not combinations of the primaries, they are all different wavelengths in the spectra of visible light.
Oh and the substractive base colours used in things like paintings and printers are yellow, magenta and cyan, a perfect combination of them is black, as it absorbs all lights. It is important to remember that, that there are two different forms of colours. Colours in the form of wavelength of light, and colours in the form of reflection when an object is hit by white light
I drive all over the US, and I can tell you that depending on the state and local counties, Police either use red and blue or they use just blue (and sometimes they throw in a little yellow on the back for caution lights). Ambulances only use red. Usually the difference is how modern their department is. Red and blue tends to be more old fashioned.
I have never been to America, but all emergency services I have ever seen, and I have been in several countries, the trifecta of Germany, France and England comes to mind, and as I said, it is because blue is so easy to recognise. No one is in any doubt when they see blue light because it is the only colour of light that is not used for anything else other than emergency services.
That blue poof on the right of the last panel isn’t from Guano, Jean, the genie centurion, or Baby Blue Djinn. The only other genie with a blue poof we’ve seen is Araceli.
I assumed that the blue poof came from the guard. Note that the camera has shifted quite a bit in the second panel, putting guano on the extreme left of the image. That’s his red poof, right next to Jeanie’s pink. Which means we don’t see the guard any more.
I did make a mistake; the poofs are in the second panel. However, Baby Blue is near the edge of the bed in front of Rodge’s right knee (stage left) in the first panel–in the same position as the right lower poof on the left side of the second panel. The blue poof on the right side of that panel could be another genie’s, but Araceli is the only genie we’ve ever seen using a blue poof. I’m suggesting that CD made that poof blue for a reason.
That reason could be Araceli checking on Neil, or Araceli wanting to see Uncle Guano.
On the other hand, neither Neil nor Rodge seem to be noticing anyone else in the last two panels.

Yeah, that’s the bit of evidence that I was unconsciously basing my dismissal of Araceli’s involvement on.
I’ve noted before that genies’ poofs had their own distinctive colours, depending on which genie it was cast from. However it’s always possible that multiple different genies can have the same colour without being related thru blood/mana. There’s only so many colours with all their hues, tones, tints, shades, etc.
There’s a tiny pink poof approximately where the baby was: in front of Rodge. I think the blue poof is the other guard; he wears green pants. You have to go back a few strips to see more than his weapon.

The first page of I Dream of a Promotion was on April 24th, 2018. Though I guess if you’re talking specifically about the part of the story influences by the Blue Djinn, that’s probably accurate.
I think the blue poof is Baby Blue. In panel 1 is Guano really poking Jean in her boob. That is not nice Lord Guano.
We already know how good Guano’s manners are with his subordinates/charges at this point. Plus, maybe as Jean being technically his wife now, he probably thinks that he now have those kinds of liberties with “her”.

Starting a new story on Monday?
Yup! CD has given me a very high level overview of what the next story will be, so I have a decent idea of how it will proceed. It’ll be a much shorter one than this behemoth 2-year story. But that’s all I’ll say.

Jeanie was still inside of Blue’s mind by then, so she may be aware of her.
Fun fact: Adolf Hitler were a baby once. His father was very cruel and strict with him, always hitting him, always giving him a hard time. Poor young Adolf didn’t get enough love.
It’s hardly a good excuse.
Adolf was a failed painter.
Time to celebrate, then. Maybe a good bottle of gin.
So is Rouyaa full genie now, or a tiny human trapped in that bottle? A human would be completely pickled by now, but a genie could dismiss the effects from the bottle contents, being mostly supernatural being.
We still don’t know if she a Genie again or just a small human now. About the only thing that we do know, is that her previous age was when she lost her Genie Status was restored to her and now she the age she was when she became human. So biologically she has had her youth restored to her, if it going to last, we don’t know.
And with Jeanie out of the way our Lady Blue has a clear shot at Neil.
I thought Guano (Bat poop) was wanting Jeanie to fix the all the stuff Blue Djinn did?
He did, but, now he having second thought about it and doesn’t know if he can trust Jeanie or not. So he going to play safe and pitch the problem to Haji and let him deal with this issue.
It look like Guano is finally showing some mart and for Guano, that saying something.
Of course,, since Hajii is retiring, he might just push the problem back on Guano, his presumed successor..

If Jean isn’t back soon, to fix things, they are definitely losing their security deposit.
Also Neil might get noticed by a certain, very attractive, and lonely, DHS agent. They tend to take an interest in suspicious explosions nearby.
Unless the agent somehow got herself bottled up…
I think that it was non-canonical storyline.
And maybe she is already in Cocoa beach investigating the strange events in the restaurant.
Now that possible that our favorite DHS agent Anderson would be checking out something strange like that, because, She has a vested interest in strange happening like that. I been one or two day ago that that event happened. Plenty of time for Agent Anderson to get there to and be checking everything out wonder what happened here.
Agent Anderson IS in Cocoa Beach, and had a close encounter with Natalie back on pages 457-462.
Actually, Agent Anderson office that she work out of is actually in Orlando, Florida, which is about 50 miles or so west of Cocoa Beach. So yes, Agent Anderson is either there or can be there in a one to two hour drive time period.
I stand corrected… but how then did Natalie and “Ann” end up in the same clothing store?
Agent Anderson happen to be in town trying to solve why she a she instead of he and she decided to stop in a female clothing shop to get some thing that she needs. Like no big deal, she there to take care of some personally need, it happens all the time. That was the original reason why Agent Anderson transferred herself to the Orlando office in the first place, because, that where Rodge live and he was the one who had Natalie, who they were detaining before he turned into a she. And she know what ever caused her turn into a she came out of Cocoa Beach, Florida. So Agent Anderson has personal interest in what go one in Cocoa Beach and anything that might seam to be strange or odd things happening there, that just don’t add to normal logic, Agent Anderson going to be interested in it.
So your technically correct that Agent Anderson in Cocoa Beach, at least part of the time, when she not on duty doing her job as a Home Land Security Agent.
@mike It was coincidence to create a comedic effect. Anne arrived in Cocoa beach to find Natalie, but was not able to recognise her though Natalie stood next to her.
The problem with that question is that there’d just be someone else instead of Hitler, though the effects would PROBABLY be less horrifying than WW2 (but there would still be a WW2, just a lot shorter)

Killing Baby Hitler wouldn’t have helped any. People like to tout the Great Man theory of history, but men are created as much by their environment as their blood, and Hitler’s environment was of a country oppressed by France for a war it didn’t start caught between Socialist and Communist thugs spilling blood in the streets and in the middle of the Left Wing Eugenics movement. Hitler wasn’t the impetus for anything, he was just the guy who clawed his way to the leading position ahead of the rest. If you read Mien Kampf he started out defending the jews, but became resentful as it became obvious they were the only germans not being robbed by France and they were at the head of both communist, socialist and the right wing thugs fighting it out in the streets.
To stop baby hitler, you’d have to stop all of those problems in addition to killing him, else he’ll just have another name when you get back to your time.
I dunno, it would have been hard for the Nazi party to gain any ground without an extremely charismatic leader. And they got that in Hitler, in spades.
Sure, there was going to be a war started by Germany no matter what, because the Treaty of Versailles was so egregiously unfair to them. But that war didn’t need to include the Holocaust. That was all Hitler’s antisemitism, writ large.
Why not kill Hitler when he on the toilet easy solution.
That’s the thing though. I don’t think it was Hitler that drove it. If you read about the eugenics movement, it started in the early 1910’s and had doctors killing old folks, downs babies and palsy sufferers before WW1 even started. The Early eugenicists were all anti-jewish for one reason or another. Hitlers’ contribution to the effort by the records I’ve read seems not to have been the camps or even the killing, but the use or zyclon-B rat poison showers.
A truly horrible way to kill people…but the list of names taking credit for various other steps is in the thousands as was the number of people writing papers justifying it both before and during hitler’s time in power.
You’re right, his charisma probably gave the Nazi party a big leg up. But he still had to burn down the capital building with all of the right wing inside and blame it on the commies in order to get there.
No. While the Versailles treaty was indeed widely seen as very unfair by the German populace then, most of them weren’t exactly enthusiastic to start a new war.

I live in the United States and all of our emergency services are red and blue but yes some states do only blue and white. #USA
