Chapter: Story 12: I Dream of a Promotion
Characters: Blue Djinn, Lord Guano
Wow, this is really clever. Blue is dangerously smart…
So if Guano dies is the Blue Djinn powerful enough to take the Genie Lord on or is he more powerful then the Blue Djinn can comprehend?
Well Im just confused cause we don’t how powerful the Genie Lord or Haji is powerful except he is retiring Can we find some example on a power scale to make some sense please?
It is know that Haji can block the power of other Genies, without even poofing himself to their presence (Rouyaa), and that the lords are strong enough to poof lesser Genies out of their Tottems. Though, Lords are chosen among the strongest genies, so it’s not like they gain new power with the tittle, and Blue alone was on their level back on his prime, being able to best Kazom, among others.
We also know that both Haji and the Blue Djinn were the strongest two Genie in the Genie Realm in there prime in the old days. Evidently both Haji and the Blue Djinn were originally fairly equally matched, before Haji prevailed against the Blue Djinn in the first of many Genie battle that they have had with each other. It was Haji that originally made the Genie rules that per-dated that 1960 Genie battles that most of us are currently referring to and Guano is credited with winning against the Blue Djinn.
From the text in the above panels and from what Kazom has also said about Guano, we know that Guano is a fairly young and inexperienced Genie who is basically no nothing Genie and generally mostly useless. Guano only claim to fame is that he defeated the Blue Djinn and even Guano doesn’t know how he did it or even what he did to defeat the Blue Djinn. Unfortunately for Guano, he believe most of the stuff being said about himself and now he thinks he something that he not.
I wonder how Araceli will react to not only what’s going on, but to hearing her uncle’s REAL name.. AND that the Blue Djinn was his tutor?
It depends if it was a secret to begin with. Rouya was part of Haji’s Harem, even though she was the daughter of his major enemy, so being associate with Blue doesn’t seem to have been a problem, until the very moment he rebel against Haji. As for the name, again, that seemed like public info, at least for Rouya, though granted, she also had the direct link to Blue, so if it was a secret, she would be one of the few to know it.
Alwatawat? I wonder if it is better or worse than Guano.
Makes no differences, he has to live with both:

Translated from Arabic, it means “Bat”. Still appropriate for him!
How did she get Guano’s lamp? Did I miss that?
Blue got a lamp some time ago, with that blind guy’s help (who felt her up). We can presumably now assume that it was Guano’s lamp.
So can I ask something… was it a mistake to say:
“You tried that already. And you needed MY magic to even attempt it.”
This implies that Guano somehow used the Blue Djinn’s power to… stop the Blue Djinn? Is that right?
Why is guano’s butt shaking in the last panel
the Blue Djinn cast a spell that caused pain to Guano. it’s adrenaline that’s causing Guano to stand like that in Panel 4.
Technically, yes, however she explained it.
The spell is just starting some car press machine she put Guano’s lamp into. He’s in pain because his totem is being pressed.
I think that HKMaly is probably right. The Blue Djinn probably threw Guano Lamp into a car that was about to be swashed by one of those big Machines that swash cars down to a size about a one to two foot square block. Which will also smash the lamp that is lamp that is Guano totem. If something doesn’t happen soon, it goodby Lord Guano.
*cough* Now to be the hated one…
“No bigger than…”
Thank you for jumping on that grenade, Sensei.
Well now Lord Guano knows that he is dealing with the Blue Djinn instead of Jeanie. I will say one thing about Lord Guano, at least he putting up a serious attempt to stop the Blue Djinn and he not action like the loser that he use to act like in the past.
Sometimes the direct approach is best. Let’s see if Lord Guano can manage it.
Hey what if Lord Guano didn’t really beat the Blue Djinn last battle but he let Lord Guano win to come back when the current Haji was at his weakest and about to retire.
At this point, just about anything is possible, even the idea that you just put out there.
Blue’s line in the last panel suggests that Guano’s approach in their previous confrontation was to turn Blue’s own power against him in some manner.
That is one possibility, because, Guano wasn’t a particularly strong Genie and he doesn’t seem to be all that smart either. But, he had something going for him, because, he was the one that came out on top in the Genie battle with the Blue Djinn.
Is it wrong that I find Blue hilarious? Yet, at the same time I realize that this is the kind of comedy I would find terrible in real life. I guess it’s the difference between knowing it’s happening to fictional characters and happening to real people.
So now I have another thought. We have seen blue destroy a bottle just by smashing it. Do the bottles not have protective magics too?
Guano is a lord, so he may just be even more cautious than normal genies with his Totem. Besides, regular genies have Masters, who in theory should guard their totems, even if only for their own interest. Lords have the perk to live freely without a master, but that also means there is nobody guarding their totem in theory.
Blue is extremely powerful. He may have some way to bypass said protections.
I remember in one page, Guano was being directly praised for his victory over Blue in the past, but he didn’t think much of it.
Could it possible that he felt some sort of sadness or guilt for having to fought his old mentor, and thus feel discomfort talking about it?
