Jeanie Bottle 520
Oh my…. I think Blue just signed his own death warrant. You do NOT want to piss off Jeanie by threatening her best buddy.
Oh my…. I think Blue just signed his own death warrant. You do NOT want to piss off Jeanie by threatening her best buddy.
I was thinking, with all of Blue Djinn’s power, couldn’t he just erase or destroy Jean’s soul, so that way he has the body to himself and no one can get in his way.
Or if the original soul is destroyed, the body also disappears, as well as those who are using said body.
Considering what happened to the genie he “ate” in Hong Kong, I think his method of stealing a genie’s power must inherently destroy their body.
That part is answered, but is Blue just unable to remove Jean’s soul from his own body?
I seen possessions where they remove the original soul of the body and destroy it. So then that body belongs to the possessor forever.
My guess (and note, CD has not told me anything about how Blue works) is that genies don’t have “souls” in the traditional sense. They are made of magic, so if you take their magic, their body vanishes. We know that a genie who casts enough spells to drain their entire magic reserve will die (as mentioned by Kazom wayyy back during the Melvin arc), which is what makes me think it works like this.
Blue has some way to steal a genie’s magic, and that kills them. He doesn’t appear to have any way to separate a genie’s personality from their magic and their body.
That answers my other question. It’s a good thing too, if Blue did manage to rid himself of Jean and seize his/her body forever, nothing can stop him.
Another question would be, if the Blue Djinn get separated from Jeanie, will he die and leave all the power that he has aquired to Jeanie. If that happens, then Jeanie would end up being one of the more powerful Genie’s in the Genie Realm.
Or
If he could disposses Jean’s soul from the “weak bottle genie body” then blue may end up being stuck there, and he could be planning a future upgrade.
If both of your suppositions are true that explains why the Blue Djinn has to preserve Jeanie’s “spirit” (for lack of a better term) in order to preserve his disguise. If a genie’s body is a physical manifestation of their magic and consuming the magic destroys the body then consuming Jeanie would destroy Blue’s disguise. That presumes that Blue’s Jeanie disguise is based more on hiding within Jeanie’s “magic signature” (again, for lack of a better term) than imitating her physical appearance, which any genie could do. But that is entirely in keeping with folklore that the djinni are entirely magical creatures who only assume physical appearances to deal with humans and perceive each other on the magical plane by magical means. And that in turn allows us to handwave the genies always appearing as their physical forms because that’s the only way we, the audience, can perceive them.
We do know that Genie have physical bodies. Now they may be magical physical bodies that they have and we also know that they magical totem that contain there physical essence and such that keep the Genie safe and in one piece and is there safe zone where they are generally secure.
But, we also know that there are three ways that a Genie can die too and they are:
1. They can use up there magic and since magic is part of the essence of a Genie, when it gone, they die.
2. We saw the Blue Djinn kill one of the Genie Lords physically. So one Genie can kill another Genie.
3. When Jeanie and the Blue Djinn were in Hong Kong, the Blue Djin crushed another Genie Totem and killed the other Genie and he got her Genie Magic.
Well, we know that the Blue Djinn has plenty of Genie Magic, because, he can overpower Jeanie and take possesion of her body and control it.
The question is:
Is the Blue Djinn body dead or is his Totem is broken or distroyed, then if he leave Jeanie.s Body, he will die. If either of these two assurtions is true, once the Blue Djinn is forced out of Jeanie, which will happen at some time in the future, the Blue Djinn will die.
Of course, I could be completely off here, but, this is one possibility. Genie’s don’t generally take possesion of other Genie’s, but, they do some time’s masquarade as other Genie’s to decieve people. So this is a special thing that happening here, that has pushed the Blue Djinn to do this.
If the Blue Djinn’s body is dead wouldn’t he have dissipated long before escaping his prison? If not, then his body is still in there and we’re seeing an astral projection takeover of Jeanie. So, here’s a possible outcome: Rouyaa somehow let’s Guano (or Haji) know that Blue has taken over Jeanie’s body and someone is dispatched to eliminate his physical form, thus killing the projection and freeing Jeanie. Why no one looked inside that prison before now, however, remains to be seen.
Jean if you got any back up plans or surprises get on it quick for your best friend life!
Well, CD has got Jeanie and Neil in a pickle. Wonder if he’s figured out a way to get them out.
At this point, I guess Blue’s downfall is the fact that even he seems to have forgot about his little scheme with the mimic trap. Whatever the mimic is Rodge’s new friend or not, it doesn’t change the fact that Blue made it with the wrong assumptions about Jean and Neil, so that will come back to bite him more sooner than later.
I think he used the wrong hair for the mimic trap. It’s attacking Rodge and not Neil.
Or she could just permanently turn Neil into Natalie…. Its essentially the same as killing him since Neil would technically no longer exist.
Or as Jafar in Aladdin put it- “You’d be surprised what you can live through”
There are worse possibilities for Neil then just death.
Being Natalie might not count as “worse than death”, though Neil wouldn’t like it. The incident with changing the Duke Boys into the Duke Girls though does imply that it is workable as a loophole for getting rid of a specific person without killing them.
“My secret plan is to kill your friend. BWAHAHA!”
Yes, step two in all good secret plans is reveal them.
“Oft evil will shall evil mar.”
===
I hope for two things: First, that Neil proves himself to be of some use. Second, that Jeanie realizes she’s actually fond of the doofus.
I am fully aware these contradict each other.
> Jeanie realizes she’s actually fond of the doofus.
I get the feeling that this is going to happen. Jeanie’s fear for Neil’s life will make her finally realize that her whole “have sex with me, so I can figure out why Belle liked you so much!” stunt was based on a much deeper appreciation for her friend than even she realized she had. Probably not “romantic love”, but I can see “platonic love” being a possibility.
Jeanie’s a female bottle genie. She exists to fulfill the wishes of her master. By tradition, that seems to include romantic, even frankly sexual, wishes. (Indeed, to a degree that even Guano finds outdated. I find it more than a bit squicky myself.) But fulfilling those wishes may not be the best thing for the master, as so many old stories attest. My sense of bottle genies is that they are, above all, a test of the master’s quality. That’s what I’m hoping for Neil–that he earns Jeanie’s respect so her magically compelled genie-fondness can grow into something more.
CD established back in I Dream of Technicolor that Jean moved to Cocoa Beach basically to be near his friend. Belle’s the only other person in Jean’s life we know he cares about.
Assuming that both Neil and Jeanie survive this chapter, I think a more likely way for Jeanie to realize she has different feelings for is for Jeanie to set Neil up (with a woman this time) and then realize she’s jealous.
50srefugee: I really don’t see why just because Neil has Jeanie’s respect they can’t have sex. Although, obviously, it would be better to get respect first, then romance and sex last, instead of short-circuiting it with a wish.
@HKMaly: Is there a sense-reversing typo there? I can’t see why respect would be an impediment to romance and sex either–It’s exactly my point that respect would make romance and sex MORE likely, not less. The problem is, Neil’s a nebbish. He’s very smart, as an engineer, and he has vision, as an engineer. But he cannot assert himself, especially not with his friend Jean. But Jean is gone, replaced by Jeanie, apparently for the rest of her very long life. He can’t even lose that spare tire of his. Jeanie, by her geniehood, is bound to be attracted to him, but unless he wishes it, and especially, wishes it enough to tighten himself up a bit by his own efforts, instead of just WISHING for it, Jeanie will not respect him enough to want to be romantic with him. And that keeps him from doing what he otherwise would, because he’s actually kind of a decent guy.
Blue you messed up with that threat, only Jeanie is allowed to torment/seriously maim Neil!
nod-nod. Although I don’t think Jeanie wants to “seriously maim”Neil. Torment, yes.
love the whole mirror reflection conversation and the red and blue outfits
Yeah, me too! It’s such an intriguing way to handle these two having a conversation.
And it certainly doesn’t hurt that both Blue and Jeanie look friggin’ sexy as heck in those minidresses.
Traditionally, humans arise from Dust/Earth. And we return to it eventually.
Whereas Djinn are born of Fire. They’re “pure magic” and nothing but. When it’s exhausted they go out — Bang! — like a snuffed candle.
So Jeanie isn’t “merely” a shape-transformed Jean. She’s an entirely new & separate being who just happens to have his memories.
If that’s the case, no one ever seems to wonder what became of Jean’s “former” body.
The Blue Djinn, despite time-sharing a brain, seems entirely unaware of Jeanie’s history — what happened before Jean pulled that cork.
He wants a body of his own more than anything. Could anything be worse than being a female bottle genie?
I predict that’ll be his downfall.
He’ll wind up with a body alright — Jean’s. Male, mortal, powerless, and doomed to age and die within a scant few decades.
“Let the Punishment Fit the Crime…”
(This, of course, is predicated on CD not reading this and deciding to alter the arc.)
What happened to Jean old body?
While we are at it, let add in Jean memory too.
Jean body was only temparary anyway and was doomed to die and disintegrate into dust. So his physical body was transformed into a female genie body that exist as a magical body. Jean physical body no longer exist and only Jeanie’s magical body exist now and forever more too.
Jean memories were also pulled over the the new female genie body too and it in accordance to what Jean thought that a female genie should look like or 1960 TV series of I Dream of Jeanie with Barbra Eden.
In addition to the first two things of a female body with a male memories of who she was before his transformation. We also have a female genie nature being thrown into this mex too. This female genie nature that Jean been rubbing up against is, a mother type nature who want to please her master and at some point maybe even will want to have sex with him. Jean has been Jeanie for about 9 months now and Jean is slowly slipping away and is becoming Jeanie mind body and sole or as one person put it, her essences of who she is.
Not “now and forever more”. You can stretch it out by doing nothing, but you still die.
See 2012-10-02 strip 162 and 2012-10-09 strip 163
Edda: We talk about “forevermore” in some instances even when speaking about ordinary human lives. If Kazom is any indication of how long a cautious genie will live, then Jeanie potentially has the equivalent of forty or more regular human lifespans ahead. Though it might suck to find out that genies don’t get an afterlife while humans do . . .
Has anyone else noticed the figure watching them? Who could that be…
Oh, that Red with the mallet. It from Melvin Chronicle and it a wall poster of some game that Red modalling for as the hero. It just background filler so that it not empty space out there.
Nothing is nothing in this comic especially if it’s in the background!
But yes maybe this is nothing…
CD confirmed that it’s just window dressing on the trolley stop in last week’s comment section.
I think you have all missed a point. The trolly schedule is “Checkov’s gun”
Checkov once said if you mention a gun laying on a table you need to use it in the story;
The trolly schedule is a test to see if Jeanie is legit or if some is impersonating her or taking over.
There is no other reason to ask.
The figure watching the is the poster of Red from a previous comic
I love how CD made Blue’s facial expressions completely, out of place, on Jean’s face. Smug, cruel, and down right evil.
Would Blue Ginny be talking to Jean at all if there wasn’t some weak point in her plan?
What the Blue Djinn dose not realize, is that he has been talking out loud and Nail can hear everything he is saying to Jean.
That seems relatively unlikely, but hey, maybe that’s the “in” that Neil uses to figure out that Blue is in control.
Here’s one thing I don’t think has been considered: Is that really Neil?
I doesn’t seem like Blue would make that mistake. But we, the audience, have no idea what the “mimic trap” that Blue made even is, so maybe he got fooled by his own trap?
That doesn’t seem very likely, though.
Normally no, but also Blue is starting to get a bit cocky, that his plans seem to be working so well, and that the only people who he thinks have noticed also don’t seem to be able to stop it. And when you get to high on your own horse, you can start making stupid mistakes you wouldn’t normally make.
Good point!
Wouldn’t it be a hoot if the “Neil” Big Bad Blue just revealed his plans to was actually, say, Haji himself?
I wonder how Blue plans to kill Neil.
Perhaps he thinks the sex will be so kinky that Neil will have a heart attack 🙂
That’s stealing the main plot line of Dangerously Chloe.
I read that entire comic over the last weekend. Not bad, but the end was . . . I had hoped Teddy would end up with someone else.
Do you think groping Jeannie’s big boobs can create a shock big enough for Jean to break free from Blue, if only for a bit?
Even if that were possible, you would want two or three other Genie’s around to help subpress the Blue Djinn, because, it already been demonstrated that Jeanie doesn’t have the power by herself to block the Blue Djinn by herself. She seem to be able to hold Blue Djinn for only a few seconds, before he re-enters her. So Jeanie will probably need other Genie help to throw the Blue Djinn out of her body.
Didn’t seem to have that effect here https://jeaniebottle.com/?comic=jeanie-bottle-515
Surprised jean hasn’t ask blue how Guano got the best of him?
Does she know that Guano is the one who supposedly defeated Blue? We, the audience, do, but I don’t recall her ever being told that.
She should, I mean there was a general warning about Blue we know she got but decide to (or was influenced to) ignore, so she has some general background about Blue, and Asha did call Guano the Genie Hero. Granted we don’t know how much Jean actually know, and she my fail to put together the story by her own, but is still possible for her to at least know the official story all genies have about Blue and Guano.
Yes, Jeanie was never in the loop as to who defeated the Blue Djinn. So she would have the the very basic to not much information as to what happened there. It was primarally Araceli that informed Jeanie that the Blue Djinn was out there and that all Genie’s were being recalled to Haji palace for protection. Any information before that time was also fairly limited too and Jeanie wasn’t that interested in it either.
Huh, I know a friend like that, Anna is usually a chill witch, often using magic for fun.
just don’t mention the fact she looks like a nine-year old. While she hasn’t told anyone her true age, it’s definitely more then 9
She also seems to care for my safety which is good.
So yeah, overall a nice gal.
When will the next I dream of Another Jeannie Bottle come out?
Thursday. See the note just under the banner.
actually it says Thrusday. I believe that’s the day of the week Canadians watch Hockey and drink lots of Molson.
Blue minnie forgot that he not only fed one of Neil’s or Rogers’ hairs to the mimic trap but also one of Jean’s. The trap will go after Jean/Blue as well as Neil. Who is going to find Rouyaa and let her out of her bottle. Will she also have her genie powers back or just her young age. She will at least know that if she rubs Jeanie’s bottle jean will have to appear. Slip Jean a mickey and when she passes out she ends up inside her bottle. then stick in the cork.
